HELENA Montana-made guns may form the basis for a court showdown over states' rights if the governor signs a bill to release some firearms in the state from federal regulation.
The proposed law aims to exempt firearms, weapons components and ammunition made in Montana and kept in Montana from federal gun laws. Since the state has few gun laws of its own, the legislation would allow some gunowners and sellers in the state to skirt registration, licensing requirements and background checks entirely...

Can’t really explain that. Then again, I’m not IN Montana either. You may want to ask that question of the Montana Freepers “on the ground” there. Something to look into is how organized, and well-run the local/state GOP is there. Are there problems, or scandals and such that have made the electorate trust their Dem reps more than Reps? AGAIN, I don’t know ANY of these things, but it’s what I would look into if I wanted an answer to the question you asked...
I do know that in some LOCAL areas (especially rural) those people active in the Democrat Party are USUALLY moreso “old-fashioned” Democrats, and not as infiltrated as the urban areas in regards to far-left Communist ideals. I have relatives who grew up in rural areas who are STILL more loyal to the Dem Party, and I can’t understand them at all!
There are probably a lot of “Stupid” reasons people come up with to continue their support of people they should be able to clearly see do NOT believe in the same things they “used” to believe in...
I appreciate your honest response. Thanks.
Yes, you’re right, the federal courts will never let this fly, or they would have to overturn precedents going back to at least Reconstruction if I remember my US Government classes.
The interstate commerce clause has been abused so many times by the feds, they’ve practically nullified the 10th amendment. I think it may be nearing the point where we must rely on the 2nd amendment alone to protect our natural rights from these cretins.
Get enough states interested, and a constitutional amendment forcing the Feds out of activities that are substantially restricted to a single state can be passed. It needn’t be focused on guns or even mention guns at all.
Hmm? Now to figure a way of moving to Montana.
I might be moving to Montana soon
Just to raise me up a crop of dental floss
Raising it up; waxing it down
In a little white box that I can sell uptown
By myself I wouldn’t have no boss
But I’d be raising my lonely dental floss
With a pair of heavy-duty zircon-encrusted tweezers...
Oh, never mind (apologies to Frank Zappa).
10A bump
Molon Lave! commies.
The states just need to remember the federal government serves THEM, not the other way around. Once they wake up, the federal nightmare will be squashed. The state tax fund account that will hold our federal taxes is a good place to start.
This bill specifically does not cover machineguns.
There isn't now but it is in legislation now warming up in the bullpen.
This is sort of out of the book “Molon Labe” by Boston T. Party. But in the book it was Wyoming, I highly recommend it to all Freepers.
The southern part of Montana extends to the Gulf of Mexico.

Bingo.
We have an old saying here in Montana.
We have 10 months of winter and 2 months of really lousy snowmobiling.
Its a matter of what you consider cold. I grew up there. The same area where “A River Runs Through It” was filmed. You don't fight the weather you respect it. When the spring comes you appreciate it more. It is a beautiful place when the weather is good but can be unforgiving during winter. You just have to adjust your mindset in the winter. Yes it snows, sometimes a lot. The temperature can be cold. I remember going to school when the high was -13F and in later years talking to my mother when she said it was -40/45 F and the wind chill dropped it to -60 to -70. It breeds a tougher hardier person that is more self reliant
So, will machine guns and sawed-off shotguns soon be legally sold in gas stations and hardware stores in Montana, once again? If ao, I am moving there!
You mean its not going to warm up with the rest of the planet?
Yes, that is the case, but perhaps it’s time to revisit the interstate commerce clause, and the 10th Amendment, along with the Second.
I’m quite heartened by the States’ Rights movement that has sprung up in the last few months. It could well be the last chance we have to reclaim the country by peaceful means.
We simply must find a way to push the Federal government back within the confines of the Constitution.
