NAIROBI, Kenya (AP) -- Pirates and U.S. warships are racing to the spot in the Indian Ocean where an American sea captain is being held hostage by a handful of pirates.
A Nairobi-based diplomat says the pirates holding Capt. Richard Phillips have summoned assistance. He says skiffs and motherships are heading toward the area from the coast.

Maybe night-line will take up the beat, bring back the old geyser for a second running.
Blockade them. Prevent them from going home again. Send in a few more warships.
This is the crux of the problem. We have no credibility in our threats. I say sink every one these “rescue” boats, save as many hostages as we can, and leave the pirates to the sharks. As to this town of Eyl that the pirates call home, wipe it off the face of the map!
From that point on position naval vessels just outside of Somali territorial waters and threaten to board every thing that leaves it.

Obama dodges the crisis with the whole US Navy backing him up. "We're here to talk about housing" will be the memorable, unfortunate glib response stamped on his forehead.
Obama will be yet another skinny African adrift in a rowboat after this.
Drudge has a story that he is annoyed with this and sees it as a distraction. I think that someone needs to tell him that they made a movie about Teddy Roosevelt and his dealings with kidnappers called “The Wind and The Lion”. It might capture his attention more than the crisis itself....he might find it more than a distraction, if he thought that they would make a movie about him.
What exactly does he think the President of the United States does? He certainly has no historical sense of the job.
Many of them come from the same clan - the Majarteen clan of the president of Somalia's transitional federal government, Abdullahi Yusuf.
I wonder if that clan has connections to the Obama clan?

Tell should them : You give up ALL the hostages NOW, and turn yourself over to us for trial, or your families and friends DIE. And be ready/willing to follow thtough.
It is a VERY harsh and violent way to go - but it really is the ONLY language that people like these pirates understand.
It also is not a very “Christian” response, I suppose. But HEY - “our” own president just last week told the WORLD that the United States is NOT a Christian nation, so WTF, eh?
I think there’s a very high probability those ships are packed with explosives, and their intent is to get them close to a US warship, possibly using hostage transfer or negotiations as a ploy.

The pirates coming to their compatriots aid apparently have read Obama as being a weakling who will allow them to escape.
They have risen the stakes, and now its more critical than ever to make sure that the pirates are all shark feed at the end of the event.
WTFATIT, carpet bomb the HQ in Somalia and sink any ship that gets within 1/2 mile of that life boat.

On a lighter note the captain of the warships has every right to execute these bastards, after capture.
They don't have to fear anything from us, they just have to be dead.
The crisis has escalated because this has been allowed to go on far too long.
obama is in WAY over his little head. He is clueless beyond campaigning. His sympathies lie with jihadists.
