The Obama administrations War on Capital — as National Review’s editors have aptly named it — claimed its first victim last week as the lawyer for the investment firm Perella Weinberg Partners says it was threatened by the White House into accepting a deal for a measly 29 cents on their investment dollar.
“One of my clients was directly threatened by the White House and in essence compelled to withdraw its opposition to the deal under threat that the full force of the White House press corps would destroy its reputation if it continued to fight,” lawyer Tom Lauria told Detroit radio host Frank Beckmann Friday. Lauria later said the brass knuckles belonged to White House Auto Task Force leader Steve Rattner.

They are just acting like the Chicago thugs they are.
Since the “white house press corps” are not employees of the government, but rather employees of the main stream media outlets it seems odd (not really) that Rattner would know he could use them to threaten a private citizen.
Does he have their word they will be compliant and/or complicit in such actions?
Which newspapers have agreed to help the white house destroy reputations? (once again, I know)
Clearly, the media are a loyal weapon of the left that can be wielded at will, at any enemy, to destroy them.
Good conservatives are good citizens.
Call your Congressmen and Senators tomorrow and demand hearings with Mr. Lauria testifying.
He is a whistleblower, and we deserve answers.

I think what is most telling about this is that they threatened not the wrath of the AG or the IRS.....but the White House Press Corps! OF course, we saw this all along, but it is stunning to see the Obama administration specifically stating, if the claim is true, that they will use the press to whip up a frenzy. These are frightening times. Why not just be done with it and rename the press corps, ‘Pravda’? (Frankly, I think the fact that the press corps was named and not some White House agency lends credibility to the claim.)
I have never seen such an abuse of power that the WH is using. I am tired of being told that we can’t do anything about this. What if these firms were to go public and let everyone know that they’re being threatened & intimidated into submission. Then perhaps their reputations won’t be ruined.
I think that everyone needs to fight this sh#%! Who in the hell do they think they are!
This story is, alas, grist for ignorant mills.
They think they are progressives. They are actually aspiring tyrants.
