Seems like the better plan would have been to organize a walkout or people turning their back on him when he walked in or completes his talk.

All of the coverage that can be gained through normal methods (signs, walkouts, petitions, etc) on the day of the speech is done. It will be reported as controversial - Obama giving a speech at a Catholic school. The objection of some Catholic Bishops and alumni will be noted in the stories. If we want anything more than the usual coverage than more radical protest will be required. Protest that is a story of its own. Keyes and Terry are doing a wonderful job.
By the way, has anybody heard the MSM talking about the tea parties this week? NO - Why? Because 750K to a million conservatives got permits and peacefully had their speeches in parks and city lawns where the government approved of them. No one got arrested. Nothing was disrupted. Randall Terry, Alan Keyes and literally a dozen activists are getting the same amount of attention for their courageous acts in South Bend as a million conservatives got for standing in a crowd, eating a hot dog, and listening to a good speech on Tax Day.

Agreed. I seriously doubt that particular endeavor would result in changing anyone’s heart for the better (directly, or indirectly via positive press coverage furthering the life agenda).

We seriously need to come to grips with the fact that most in the pro (maternal) choice camp deviate from our views at a core philosophical point - that a fetus is a human being deserving the full legal protections offered to all human beings. Such people will be scarcely more bothered by the sight of ghoulish fetal images (or related) than I am by the sight of a slaughterhouse, roadkill, or the field dressing of game. If that recognition of humanity is widely absent in those whose minds we wish to turn (and I think it is), all shock efforts and similar strategies will only move potential converts further away. Step one is to imbue the fetus with humanity in the eyes of those who now find abortion acceptable.

Your welcome, I’ll ping it again later this evening to the Terri Dailies thread.

I’m actually a little surprised they arrested Alan Keyes; he announced a couple days ago that this was his intent, I half expected them to refuse to arrest him.

The lib media is too busy covering NOBAMA’S daily teleprompter speeches to cover anything else..OBAMA spends his time making daily dimwitted speeches about his socialist agenda...I never watch, makes me sick..

but it was Randall Terry and Alan Keyes pushing the baby carriages.

The article states only that they were among others who pushed carriages with dolls covered in fake blood. That's bad enough in itself. Anyone with an iota of good sense, and taste, would not be among these crackpots, "infiltrators" or not.
Randall Terry does nothing positive for the pro-life campaign, rather he's an abject embarrassment. Keyes should know better, obviously he does not.

Thanks for that waggle....I really don’t know why they arrested Keyes, he’s articulate, conservative for the most part and is just exercising his right as an American. I can only assume it was somewhat planned. With all the outrageous things going on today, can’t believe they’d arrest him for such an infraction...seems kind of fruitless..

Then his actions would be then classified as “civil disobedience” wouldn’t it? That used to be honorable. Although we would sometimes wish it, we cannot impose upon other people our wishes.

Some may perhaps wish to write to Mr. Keyes in a tone of mutual respect for his committment, and the cause, and the issue, but explain their thoughts, and what the strollers felt like to them...

However, one that gives excellent oratories on understanding the rule of law, also understands the consequences of an act of Civil Disobedience.

As for the university’s policies — they are free to have the rules of their wishes (they are still a private school, eh?).

There’s no reason they couldn’t protest in front of the campus, or around it. Obviously Keyes and his fellow protestors didn’t think that would be “good enough” to make the point. Therefore, they decided to perform an act of civil disobedience.

No one was harmed, no one was injured. If anything the person’s who were arrested are the ones paying the price (through time in jail, a record, fines, etc...). I thought Acts of Civil Disobedience were well-respected in Conservative “circles”. I don’t think I’m wrong in that, am I?
