Just for the sake of context, I was a pretrib, Euro-AC, Gog is pre-70th week person for years. But something just never quite sat right, so I decided to throw out all the popular teachings I had absorbed sans independent study and just read the text. What a wild ride it turned out to be - now I’m a post-trib (or at least pre-wrath), Islamic-AC, Gog happens later person. :)
Here’s how I think the text lays it out (with the humble caveat that my human understanding is imperfect and seen through a glass darkly).
The Gog war is the catalyst for the abomination of the holy place, so it basically begins in the middle. The Gog invasion violates the covenant made 3 1/2 years earlier; the AC then proceeds to Jerusalem and defiles the holy place (which doesn’t have to be an erected temple - a tabernacle will do just fine). The war continues basically til the end, God’s ultimate response being what it is - His wrath as described in Revelation, Ezekiel, Joel et al.
This view was gleaned from the whole of prophetic scripture - major and minor prophets alike - with Matt 24 as the initial jumping off point. It’s amazing - everything, and I mean everything, lines up with Matt 24’s basic timeline. Another very good pivot point is the 6th seal - the details of that event are everywhere in prophetic scripture, probably a couple dozen times (I have a list somewhere) and really help to literally placemark certain parts of the text as to where they fit time-wise. It’s remarkable stuff.
Anyway, thanks for the response. Oh and I agree - Gog is revisited at the end of the millennium, however briefly. And I love that verse you quoted from Amos - indeed. Another along those lines - Prov 25:2, It is the glory of God to conceal a thing: but the honour of kings is to search out a matter.

Yep, the last eight years have been tough going with family relations. I've been the odd-man-out of the litter since birth, but moving over to the Republican party and becoming a conservative was the last straw for most of my family.
Since the 2008 elections, communications with them have become especially sparse and strained, to say the least.
It also didn't help that I moved the wife and kids to Texas(!), the spiritual home to everything un-liberal. LOL

For me I believe it because in order for the devil through this indivdual to take control the Holy Spirit will have to be absent and when the “Church” (true Christians) are taken in the rapture the Holy Spirit will be absent (if for only briefly, i don’t know). That will pave the way for this person to intercede and bring “calm” to the situation, which the disappearance of untold numbers (hopefully! lol!) would surely cause.
I think you really are a hero and your story would be compelling reading on college campuses (of, course, you'd have to smuggle it in at night). Individual thought and freedom versus the captivity of liberalism.

Do you mean the MSM that uses terms like "Israeli Apartheid"? I don't think they'll turn on him for this. Most that I see don't really like Israel and want big concessions from the Israelis to benefit the so-called Palestinians.
The American Jewish population might turn on him, although I'm not even convinced of that anymore.
