'Ark' revelation: Can they dig it? (Ark of the Covenant announcement 8 AM eastern)

Bible buzz begins as hunters wait to view Ten Commandments box

Ark hunters and Bible enthusiasts are buzzing about a report that the Ark of the Covenant, the ancient container that holds the Ten Commandments, is expected to be unveiled in Rome today.

As WND reported, the patriarch of the Orthodox Church of Ethiopia says he will announce to the world the unveiling of the Ark, which he says has been hidden away in a church in his country for millennia, according to the Italian news agency Adnkronos.

Abuna Pauolos, in Italy for a meeting with Pope Benedict XVI this week, told the news agency, "Soon the world will be able to admire the Ark of the Covenant described in the Bible as the container of the tablets of the law that God delivered to Moses and the center of searches and studies for centuries."

According to the Italian news agency, the announcement is expected to be made at 2 p.m. Italian time (8 a.m. Eastern) from the Hotel Aldrovandi in Rome. Pauolos will reportedly be accompanied by Prince Aklile Berhan Makonnen Haile Sellassie and Duke Amedeo D'Acosta.

"The Ark of the Covenant is in Ethiopia for many centuries," said Pauolos. "As a patriarch I have seen it with my own eyes and only few highly qualified persons could do the same, until now."

Bob Cornuke, biblical investigator, international explorer and best-selling author, has participated in more than 27 expeditions around the world searching for lost locations described in the Bible. A man some consider a real-life Indiana Jones, he has written a book titled "Relic Quest" about the Ark of the Covenant and participated in History Channel production called "Digging for Truth."

One of the side affects of messing with the ark outside of divine protocol is hemorrhoids, seriously, it’s in the Bible.

No, that was the Philistines in the time of David. I think.

You know its kept locked down in Rome by the Vatican, along with the last remaining piece of the true cross, the spear of destiny, the holy grail and several alien skeletons who just happened to be templar knights....

Not that I am a believer

I'm completely agnostic on this. My guess is that there really was an Ark. It disappeared. It might be in Ethiopia. We'll see.

I didn’t see this story on the news. Ethiopian Patriarch + Ark + Pope = big big news. Did anyone else see this story? And its not on Drudge. (Earlier when I pointed out the 134 billion suitcase wasn’t on Drudge it appeared the next day)

Many scholars think the Ark was really “lost” in some destructive accident after God withdrew his power. Some think there were several and one is even on display in a museum in Africa. It is what is left of a wooden drum that was suppose to have the power to strike down enemies in battle.

I hope FOX doesn’t have Geraldo Rivera cover this story.

I´m with you on that. I remember seeing a doc on the History Channel about the various nomadic tribes in the region all having an Ark of some type or other that they used to carry their holy items and that was paraded before the tribe before a battle. Seems like they were standard items in pre-islamic arabia.

IIRC, that one is kept by the 'Lemba' people who have been shown to be genetically descended from the Jews...

He was flat busted broke

I'm sure Obama would have helped him out for something as important as buying the Ark...There's still TARP money that hasn't been used.

I think you are conflating things.

The Israelites were afflicted with hemorrhoids once for a particular disobedience. And, God then decreed that some gold models of hemorrhoids be made and placed in the Ark.

I don’t recall a single reference to anyone getting hemorrhoids from carrying the Ark as instructed.

That TARP and the rest of the stimulus is being held until the next elections so it can “stimulate” the economy and make the Dems look good.
