Cap & Trade (Read Cap & Tax) must go down. It is another marxist construct aimed squarely at the free market. Email, fax, call your represenntatives today & demand they vote against this very bad legislation. Gotta go 2 for 2 on this & socialized health care.

Put my call into my Democrat Congresswoman. They refused to tell me her current stance on the bill.

"The stink surrounding the Pelosi-Waxman-Markey cap-and-tax bill has become vomit-inducing overnight. Representative Waxman has decided to replace the 1091-page bill with a 300-page bill that will be debated for no longer than three hours today. So your elected representatives will have virtually no time to debate the merits of an economy-spanning bill they will not have had time to read. Speaker Pelosi and her sidekick Waxman are displaying nothing more than complete contempt for the democratic process."

Frankly it might just be better if this passes...

It not like it is an entitlement that will be hard to undue, and when everyone has to start paying 2 or 3 times more for gas, electricity, water, and everything else under the sun the democrats will be blamed universally and be thrown out of office in 2010. At which point this can be easily repealed to an avalanche of praise from everyone.

The KEY and this is CRITICAL is that the democrats are seen as pushing this through over the objections of republicans, that way blaim can be squarely placed on the liberal idiots.

06.26.09-10:00 ET: LATEST UPDATE:

Waxman-Markey American Clean Energy and Security Act (ACES) H.R. 2454

The House Rules Committee met at 2:50 a.m. ET and agreed that a debate would occur on the floor later today for at least three hours. This step was delayed for hours as senior leaders met to work out details following a struggle to line up enough votes. The final step is a vote today. 218 votes are needed to pass the Bill. Democrats hold 256 seats, but a number of the party's ranks have said they will vote "no" out of concern over the effect on their regions.

FlAttorney and two other partners from our law firm left for D.C. Thursday morning to arm twist for No votes. His brother's Houston based law firm sent five partners and attorneys. Many other GOP related law firms have done the same. The latest information is the House Democrats do not have the votes necessary to pass ACES. But, in high stakes politics this means nothing.

Is this really going to do anything? The child messiah has them at his beckon call and will sell his soul (if he has one) to get these three major bills through - (1)Cap and Tax, (2) Obamacare, and (3) Amnesty.

I have already done my part during the past couple of weeks but I seriously doubt we have enough sway over the kool aid drinkers that now inhabit this once great nation.

The most obscene item is for these kool aid drinkers to believe the child messiah can actually change anything dealing with CO2 on the globe when it is only the United States imposing cap and tax - any business that can, will leave the USA and set up shop where there are no such restrictions. Then what is he going to do - NATIONALIZE EVERY SINGLE INDUSTRY AND MAKE IT ILLEGAL FOR THEM TO LEAVE THE UNITED STATES? See Obama's Directive 10-289 (http://rightwingnews.com/mt331/2008/11/obamas_directive_10289.php)

John Kline (R-MN2) is voting no. Same with Michele Bachmann.

Collin Peterson (D-MN7) is a blue dog and chair of the agricultural committee, and has been mentioned as a swing vote. CALL HIM! His line was full when I tried.

Write your representative: https://writerep.house.gov/writerep/welcome.shtml

Uses the additional four digits on your zip code to locate your representative. If you don’t know those digits, it has links to the post office search function, so you can locate those four digits. I saved mine with the link in my favorites.

I took the liberty of updating the list of fence-sitters with a city and zipcode for their district. You can call the toll free numbers at the capitol switchboard and give them the zip code of the fence-sitter you would like to register your vote with. Sic’em

I probably will, however, sadly I truly believe our congressmen both D’s and R’s don’t give a flying rip what we think. THey proved this when their phones and email servers were jammed with angry voters telling them NOT to pass the TARP and they did it anyway. Now they are all looking around wondering why it didn’t work, where the money went, why there was no oversight, blaming others, etc.

They are all money-grubbing, power hungry, horn-dogs!

Reading through the as-reported version of HR2454 (available at http://cspan.org), be sure to catch SEC. 432. ENERGY REFUND PROGRAM FOR LOW-INCOME CONSUMERS.

(a) Energy Refund Program-

(1) The Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency, or the agency designated by the Administrator shall formulate and administer the `Energy Refund Program’.

(2) At the request of the State agency, eligible low-income households within the State shall receive a monthly cash energy refund equal to the estimated loss in purchasing power resulting from this Act.

This is why when you should double any estimates you see for what this bill will cost you (last I heard family of 4 cost is $4600/yr). Since you’ll be paying for another family too, double that to $9200.

I’ve called and emailed all my elected reps in the past 2 days, and sent them articles. I doubt it will have any impact but it’s something. Senator Casey’s office is spewing talking points, as usual, and claiming that the CBO says the legislation will save each household $175 on average.
