Palin to RESIGN as Alaska Governor
Real Clear Politics ^ | July 3, 2009

UPDATE: Palin To Resign As Alaska Governor UPDATE: KTUU-TV in Anchorage reports that Palin not only won't seek re-election, but will resign later this month.

ORIGINAL POST: Gov. Sarah Palin (R) has announced she will not run for re-election in 2010, CNN reports. She's scheduled to make an announcement shortly.

The decision frees Palin to travel in the Lower 48 as she considers a potential run for president in 2012. A re-election campaign could also have been tough on the former vice presidential nominee; her approval rating has dropped from stratospheric highs, and a number of candidates in both parties are said to be considering runs.

Even if she won, the race would have been dominated by the specter of a presidential bid, giving her adversaries an opportunity to wound her politically. She's still fending off ethics complaints, many spurred by the "Troopergate" scandal.

Have I mentioned how I feel about RINOs and Moderates?

They’re lying manipulative bottom feeding scum who will happily hand a seat to the democrats in hopes that they can use fear to put a seat in RINO hands next time around.

Sounds to me like you’re trying to use fear already.

Ouch. She sounds like she is whining. Not a very Presidential performance at all.

Well, after seeing this - I fired up the cable news looking for the spin///

A couple called this a bold and calculaed gamble for a run for Prez in 2012. So, from that, only time will tell

But I will also say this - In America, nobody likes a quitter. GEN G. Patton said it best:
America loves a winner. America will not tolerate a loser.

And many equate quitting with losing.

OTOH, Patton also said
I don’t measure a man’s success by how high he climbs but how high he bounces when he hits bottom.

SO time will tell.

Got to be nerves. Even her family didn’t know until a couple hours ago. Being the secretive type doesn’t seem her style. Must have made her unnerved.

I talk about Obama’s actions in the appropriate threads

This about Ms. Palin. I am looking for leadership from “conservatives”

Quiting on July 4th weekend is NOT leadership.

Making a rambling speech amongst barn yard animals is now getting embarrassing.

>>>It is a complement to say that she’s not cut out for the despicable and degenerate world of contemporary national politics in America.<<<
—You're right. Any upstanding decent people on the Federal level are now a mere handful. We have become a republic led by the corrupt and incompetent.

Friday release means bad news.

Maybe, but she's not resigning ASAP; she delayed her resignation until July 26, which is a Sunday.

Yup. She was being bankrupted by frivolous lawsuits. She’s regrouping. It’s a game of chess now.

Without reading through all 230+ posts so far in this thread, I can pretty well assume everybody has a theory about her motives.

I don’t.

She’s a human being and she’s been put through a meat-grinder for the past 8 or 9 months. Very few of us could survive such a test. Perhaps she’s more like us than we thought. Perhaps — like many of us — her family is more important than the fickle approval of the Republican party.

Again, I don’t know. We’ll just have to wait and see what happens next.

One thing I do know though... I won’t vote for Romney.

I’ve never heard her rush through a speech like this.

I agree, it is not well rehearsed.

I think there’s a tendency to go off the cuff here, so I’ll tone it down a bit. I don’t care for it, but perhaps I’ll be pleasantly surprised how this turns out.

My thoughts tend toward your own though.

Have faith.

She faced reality, and the costs to
her, her family and her time serving
her state for her to continue to be
the media’s/libs’ pinata after Pres.
George W. Bush.

It is a move of faith.

Gee .. I don’t see a teleprompter.

Santorum repaid $ for his 5 (?) kids who were living in VA and being home schooled by his wife through an online school the State of PA runs for shut-ins, kids temporarily living out of state, etc. If the Senator from PA can’t claim that his kids are residents of PA living out-of-state because he has to have a residence near his work, who can? He just ended up repaying them with the local school district threatening him with lawsuits because they hammered him in the PA papers daily like he was stealing from the taxpayers. Yep, they ground him into nothingness, but it’s just an OLD left tactic, not a new one.
