Palin to RESIGN as Alaska Governor
Real Clear Politics ^ | July 3, 2009

UPDATE: Palin To Resign As Alaska Governor UPDATE: KTUU-TV in Anchorage reports that Palin not only won't seek re-election, but will resign later this month.

ORIGINAL POST: Gov. Sarah Palin (R) has announced she will not run for re-election in 2010, CNN reports. She's scheduled to make an announcement shortly.

The decision frees Palin to travel in the Lower 48 as she considers a potential run for president in 2012. A re-election campaign could also have been tough on the former vice presidential nominee; her approval rating has dropped from stratospheric highs, and a number of candidates in both parties are said to be considering runs.

Even if she won, the race would have been dominated by the specter of a presidential bid, giving her adversaries an opportunity to wound her politically. She's still fending off ethics complaints, many spurred by the "Troopergate" scandal.

She may just be leaving politics all together.

Exactly! She's had enough of the personal stuff.

I just remembered that all the ethics complains being hurled at her, which nearly bankrupted her family thanks to DemonRat ankle-biters, have no choice but to STOP if she isn’t the Governor.

She really doesn’t have the money to just do nothing.
Maybe Zero has offered her a job in the administration.

Cdchik123 I would agree with you. I think the press has done a job on her and her family in which they wanted to take her out before the next election. While I hate to see her go, how much is she expected to take. I don’t blame her because she and her family just don’t need the hate mongering. The liberal media has been vile and disgusting - they can be real proud of themselves - but the one thing is - they ultimately will have to answer for their actions.

"To me this is devestating....."

I've always liked her, and still do, but I had my doubts as to whether or not she could win after the bad campaign she was in, combined with the constant trashing by the media.

Personally, I would have told the world to f*** off and die for the way she and her family have been treated.

The GOP is at fault for not defending her even a little bit and in many ways stabbed her in the back

Don't blame her one bit, life is too short to live everyday with the most slimy, lowlife sleaze balls treating her and her family lower than snake dropping

I can definitely get behind this decision. She’s not like bambi who ran for the presidency for 2+ years while being paid to do the job as a senator.

Get ready for the scandal to surface. Either she or her hubby have been caught playing house with someone else.

The terrorists’ enablers and sympathizers (Democrats) have succeeded in pushing out a good, strong, conservative governor.

Knowing what I know now (she may have other reasons), I think she should stay and be a successful governor...this is a damn shame.

Wish we could say that is only coming from Dems. There seem to be people in the GOP who want her out of politics worse than Dems.

Hope all is well with her, and her family.

Great move and she can concentrate on the Presidency. This is brilliant and may run for Senate in 10.
