Palin to RESIGN as Alaska Governor
Real Clear Politics ^ | July 3, 2009

UPDATE: Palin To Resign As Alaska Governor UPDATE: KTUU-TV in Anchorage reports that Palin not only won't seek re-election, but will resign later this month.

ORIGINAL POST: Gov. Sarah Palin (R) has announced she will not run for re-election in 2010, CNN reports. She's scheduled to make an announcement shortly.

The decision frees Palin to travel in the Lower 48 as she considers a potential run for president in 2012. A re-election campaign could also have been tough on the former vice presidential nominee; her approval rating has dropped from stratospheric highs, and a number of candidates in both parties are said to be considering runs.

Even if she won, the race would have been dominated by the specter of a presidential bid, giving her adversaries an opportunity to wound her politically. She's still fending off ethics complaints, many spurred by the "Troopergate" scandal.

It's gonna take an expert in economics to get us out of this mess.

Take a hard look at his MassHealth plan and get back to me on that.

Biblical reason if she decided to run for president:

Matthew 6:24 (New International Version)

24”No one can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and Money.

Everyone on Hardball/MSNBC thinks this move is a disaster for Sarah Palin.

This must mean this was a masterful move.

But none of them resigned their positions in order to run, and especially to do it years ahead of any Presidential election.

Don’t know anything about the Senate seats in her state.

One thing is that she will be free to speak out more as a private citizen.

Someone posted that she can now go online and do amazing things that way and possibly on TV too. Don’t know where the money will come from in the meantime.

I trust her judgement. She is who she is-no matter if Governor or not. And,I like who she is.

Quite possibly the best post on this pathetic thread so far!

Sarah Palin is no quitter. She already alluded to the fact that she considered her job in Alaska as too important to spread her self so thin she couldn't give it all she had. This is a sign of a true blue, for real, classy woman who realizes that those others who run for major offices while already in office, are just sucking at the trough of govt. She refuses to do so and that's just fine with me.

As for the media uhhh... let's see, if she stays they bash the shit out of her, if she goes they bash the shit out of her,so where is the down side

She is showing the world that she is content enough with her self that she does not have to be in office to run for another. Perhaps the highest in the land! I support her even more now than I did before and I hope others will as well.

So all you cry babies strategizing how she should have stayed in office sucking at the trough of govt. should think twice. Oh yeah and Ed Rollins can kiss my rosy red butt.

Yes, I understand that but for years and years? It’s easier to get funds when you’re actually in the race but no matter how well liked it may be harder over a long period of time.

We’ll wait and see, she knows what she has in mind and I’m sure they have plans in place.

Thank you, Rodguy911. I haven’t read the posts on this thread, but it seems I haven’t missed much. When I heard this news, my heart sunk.

Maybe we were all hoping someone, anyone, would give us hope that we could find a way out of this desolation that Obama and the Dem’s are spreading.

Maybe we all have to look within ourselves to work at the grass roots levels to make changes....from the bottom up. Whether it’s talking to/educating the person in line in the grocery store, a coworker, a family member, trying our own hands at local politics.....we are going to have to fight.

Gov. Palin will not save us on her own. We must save America.

I don't think Sarah has anything in mind other than running for potus. She is ethical enough to realize that you can't run for President and run a state as well. Something would suffer.

Most just keep taking the money and the benefits while running for yet another office. It takes a true, ethical, noble person to admit you can't do both and actually quit.

Since she obviously has already made up her mind she did the right thing IMHO,those who don't like it will be proven wrong.

.

All ran for office while holding a fall-back office

Like John Kerry did

If they lost the Presidential general election - they keep the remaining funds and let the campaign bills slide - and just go back to Congress and stay there for decades more

Leiberman did that too

No risk

Hi rodguy, I agree she has her eye on the prize (POTUS) but she also needs to be in a better position to defend herself from personal and professional attacks, and unfortunately, to raise some money privately so she can pay her current and (most likely) future legal fees.

Meanwhile, she can become the LEADER of the conservative voices out on the speaker circuit, fund raisers, and campaigning for good conservative candidates. While doing this, she enhances her chances for the nomination.

I'm good with this, it's a personal choice. Government is not the be-all end-all in her life...or mine.

“She realizes the Republic is doomed, and she knows what comes next.”

There is more truth to this than most of us want to admit. We no longer control our own country, if we ever really did. Our country is controlled an elite power structure in Washington DC. It is dominated by special interests and totalitarian socialists. There is no place there for the “common man” (or common woman in the case of Gov. Palin). It’s not just a democrat thing, or a state-run media thing, or a socialist academia elite thing. It includes the major corporations and the GOP, too. They run the country and have the power. They will destroy anyone who poses a threat to that power. Sarah Palin posed such a threat. They destroyed her and drove her out of contention for national office.

They would and will do the same to you, me, and anyone else who dares to speak up. We will not be hounded out of office, but we would be labeled “terrorists” and “threats” and dealt with accordingly. Palin snuck into public office under their radar and there are still certain political conventions to follow. She won’t be directly put into prison. Those conventions don’t apply to us.

From now on, what we have in terms of liberty and property is only what the State decides we will have at any given moment.
