Palin to RESIGN as Alaska Governor
Real Clear Politics ^ | July 3, 2009

UPDATE: Palin To Resign As Alaska Governor UPDATE: KTUU-TV in Anchorage reports that Palin not only won't seek re-election, but will resign later this month.

ORIGINAL POST: Gov. Sarah Palin (R) has announced she will not run for re-election in 2010, CNN reports. She's scheduled to make an announcement shortly.

The decision frees Palin to travel in the Lower 48 as she considers a potential run for president in 2012. A re-election campaign could also have been tough on the former vice presidential nominee; her approval rating has dropped from stratospheric highs, and a number of candidates in both parties are said to be considering runs.

Even if she won, the race would have been dominated by the specter of a presidential bid, giving her adversaries an opportunity to wound her politically. She's still fending off ethics complaints, many spurred by the "Troopergate" scandal.

It wasn’t lawyers who were filing the complaints!!!!!

It was one, official blogger for the DNC and another Dem who was turned down for a job in Alaska.

Wrong. That’s not who I heard. I never turned on MSNBC today. It was someone on CNN. And I never said I believe it. But she’s done politically.

Lol, the thought of Romney in high heels is like an elephant in a teacup.... ‘What would he do in them’? Stumble and fall as he will do again if he runs.

Look what heels do for Gov Sarah Palin...

As for stumbling and falling...

Could he do any worse than he did without heels in 2008 ???

He really should have spent that $60 Million on some little Italian numbers..

I didn't mean to compare Sarah Palin to Mark Dayton. Mr Dayton was damn near campaigning for a DC office when he was running for Governor. MN elected Jesse Ventura in part because it was clear Jesse would pay attention to MN. I've no doubt that Sarah would NOT step down without good reason.

The point I was trying so poorly to make is that it is not so cut and dried that folks must follow through on a full elected term. If the Alaskan ankle-biters were getting in the way of the Governor doing her job, the Alaskan voters would know better than you and I, and will make the judgement. Right now, I'm leaving it up to them.

I don't think Sarah has anything in mind other than running for potus.

I have no idea if that's her plan. I just realize we, as conservatives, must fight the current trend, with or without her in the plan for 2012 presidential nominee. I hope she will be in the mix for 2012 either as a candidate or as a force that helps move candidates in the right direction. She is a gem.

“Bet ya A fifty dollar donation to FR that you are wrong.

That is if you are still here in a few days years.

LOL!”

You’re on! The day Palin gets the nomination for any elected national office, I will gladly give $50 to FR.

But if she runs for national office and loses in the primary, you will donate to a charity of my choosing?

What about Huckabee? Doesn’t he have real conservative cred?

I think any one of those guys, including the moose, has a better shot at becoming POTUS than Palin does at this point.

Folks, she is the Governor of Alaska, which is far away from the lower 48, including Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina. If she’s going to be our next president, she has to start campaigning NOW!! She isn’t a do-nothing like BHO, who votes “present” and never shows up to work. Plus, being a governor is different from senator. She can’t do both, so she had to make a choice!! I think it’s BRILLIANT!!

After the initial shock and after doing some thinking about it all, I tend to agree. She IS the anti Obama. As mentioned above, Obama campaigned for two years while collecting a salary and doing virtually nothing as far as his senatorial duties are concerned. As the Anti Obama, Sarah is doing the opposite. She sort of mentioned this when she spoke about lame duck Governors who take their salary but spend their time traveling and doing almost nothing in their job as Governor. She said she can’t and won’t take the people of Alaskas money. She can use this against any opponent who tries to use her resigning against her. She still has more governing experience than the piece of crap that currently occupies the White House.
