If the grassroots TEA Party movement could nominate a candidate for president, who would it be?
July 9, 2009 | Jim Robinson

Posted on 07/09/2009 11:51:22 AM PDT by Jim Robinson

The TEA Party movement is all about smaller, more representative government. We are fed up with our unresponsive, ever expanding and totally out of control BIG government.

We feel our elected officials and politicians of both political parties have failed us and no longer represent our interests or the country we love, and no longer deserve our support. The Democrat party is totally lost to Marxism and the Republican party is not far behind. I've heard thousands of people saying it's time to kick them ALL out!

Rebellion is brewing!

If we the members of the grassroots TEA Party movement could nominate a candidate for president, who would it be?

Well, obviously, it should not be a leading member of either of the two major political parties that have failed us so miserably that we're now on the brink of rebellion. No beltway insiders please. No next in line it's my turn candidates. No try again candidates. No media's choice candidates. No slick-haired, smooth talking, two-faced political hacks. Big government, big spending northeastern moderates need not apply.

Time for a fresh face. Time for someone who walks the walk as well as talks the talk. Someone who actually believes in America, believes in small government, believes in freedom, believes the people can and will fend for themselves and do not need or want a government nanny.

Time for an outsider. Time for an outcast. Someone who is not contaminated with Washington politics as usual. Someone with a record of standing up for individual rights, smaller government, smaller taxes, traditional American values, national pride, national defense. Someone who speaks from the heart and connects with we the people by speaking the truth and by truly representing our individual interests and individual freedoms.

Enough with Marxism! We need someone who will say No to more BIG government programs! Say NO to socialist BIG government health care systems! NO to BIG government takeover of private enterprise! NO to crippling BIG government energy boondoggles! NO to global warming hoaxes! NO to BIG spending, BIG taxes, BIG government!

But YES to American individuality, American freedom, American resourcefulness, American independence and the American can do spirit! And YES to American pride, patriotism and national defense!

And YES to good old American know how!

It's good to be American! It's good to be FREE!

You betcha!

Go Sarah!

Drill baby drill!

Truthfully, neither you, nor I, nor anybody else here really knows what Sarah Palin is up to.

Truthfully, I don't think Sarah knows either. Her position was very difficult and she wanted out of it into a new position.

Just saw a repeat of a segment on Anthony Bourdino, as he traveled the SW sampling the culinary fare. His last stop was at Nugent's ranch in Waco, TX., where he got to eat wild venison wrapped in wild boar bacon. After dinner they all went out back on shot off M-16's, MP-5's and last but not least an M-60. All in full Rock'n'Roll (naturally) mode.

And I thought, We need to get Sarah and Ted (The Huntress and The Hunter) together. They can go on a wild Libtard hunt.

You could be right. I simply have no idea. We can hope, or wring our hands, or call her a quitter... but I'll just sit and wait. The current national situation can't sustain for much longer and if it does collapse catastrophically, then I guess we'll assign AORs and objectives and do our "thing". :-)

Personally, I don't think that leader has emerged yet.

As much as I would love to see Sarah on the ticket, the GOP doesn't really have the balls to defend or deal with the likes of what will be thrown at her. One of Beck's guest hosts this past week made a very resounding point...there is a war raging in the country and conservatives are acting too conservative to win it.

In 4 years we will, as a nation need someone who is a uniter. Palin, unfortunately will be divisive if we don't come out slugging, punching, kicking, biting for her now. And we won't be her warriors, heck we're having a hard time being our Constitution's warriors. Anyone for tea?

We have to look at what's happening now and project 4 years from now and folks...it ain't gonna be pretty. We will be on the very real verge of civil war, if not already there.

The culture war is about to culminate.

How can we reach-out? How should we?

Three books I've passed on so far this year to “young people.” Liberal Fascism—Jonah Goldberg, Common Sense, the Rights of Man, and the Crisis—Thomas Paine, The 5,000 Year Leap.

This fall I plan to start offering, The Real American Revolutionary Story, tutoring weekly series. For both Highschool and college students.

If we, as a nation, really want break the grip of usurpation that has taken hold, then we have to fight back. We have to fight for every citizen that values being an American, for every young person who needs to know/learn what being an American really is, for every unborn child that should be born a child of liberty, not a child of debt. We must fight to restore the moral authority of this nation as given to us from God. We cannot have liberty without a common morality. Even our founding fathers pondered if the people of their time held enough common morality to be free.

No, Jim Robinson, I don't think the leader we need is here just yet. We haven't paved the way, prepared a way or made the way straight for their arrival. We have a lot of work to do before we will find out next leader.

Oh yes!! That is right! YOU are paying attention. Many of us have been asleep, and apathetically letting these people take over.

Not here on FR...but we all have relatives that tell us to stop being so “obsessed” with politics and “over the top”, don’t we? I don’t know about you, but those relatives have begun to call me up and they have started to pay attention.

Maybe, just maybe Obama has awoken the ‘sleeping giant’? I pray it is so.

I truly appreciate what you have to say. Thank you. Really agree with you on the conflict of interest topic. I believe it use to be a politician had to quit their office before they ran for President. Maybe it was just ethical, and we seem to have thrown ethics out the window, in this new ‘improved’ society.

But, I too must respectfully disagree with you, in that Sarah did quit....she quit her job before the end of her term. That, is the definition of a “quitter”...’one who quits’.

Right now, this is the way it is. If at some future juncture it comes out that her resignation enabled crooks to be punished, instead of enabling her to make money with speaking engagements and a book -—I will most certainly eat my words—and be happy to do so. Right now, I believe this spells the end of her political career.

I've got a short list of candidates that I'd accept...

Sarah Palin
Duncan Hunter
Jim DeMint

Can't think of any others off hand.

My answer is, that Sarah was the “Mayor”! She was bigger than a mayor, she was Governor...she was in charge. She had the bully pulpit—now she doesn’t. Your analogy doesn’t fit the situation.

Let me tell you a true story. My father owns a business. He won a large contract. One of his competitors had a friend in the organisation that awarded the contract. The competitor and the friend DID go on a smear campaign against my father. They bad mouthed and lied about my father day and night—to anyone who would listen. The friend found fault with the way my father did his business, and completed the contract. He filed complaints. Should my father have quit? It was a huge hassle and caused him much heartache. Do you think it would have helped anything if he had given up the job and validated what the competition had to say? Because that is what happens when you quit. It validates your critics.

Well, instead my dad just did a great job. In the end, the competition and the friend, just looked like idiots, as each charge against dad was refuted and proven wrong. The friend had to retire.

You fight wrong, by doing right. Not quitting.

That’s my answer.

Well! It looks like you and I agree on some things, and disagree on others! In the scope of what we're talking about though, I think we're still on the same side, and I'll count this as a good thing. We'll sit tight and see what happens I suppose. I think either of us will eat our words if we're wrong! I sure will! Thanks for not beating up on me. I've been whacked pretty hard lately...brought most of it on myself! But I appreciate swapping postings with somebody who can shoot back, disagree on minor things, and be civil about it. Thanks!

I do too! Just found a very wise quote from Jefferson, that you might be interested in. Haven't yet found a place to use it, but it is very interesting.

"To constrain the brute force of the people, the European governments deem it necessary to keep them down by hard labor, poverty and ignorance, and to take from them, as from bees, so much of their earnings, as that unremitting labor shall be necessary to obtain a sufficient surplus to sustain a scanty and miserable life." --Thomas Jefferson to William Johnson, 1823.

Seems to be the idea of the dems and Obama.

I'm not defeated, are you? It seems as if Sarah is defeated. Which upsets me greatly.

Remember Perot? He was fooled, by political operatives, into believing some horrible thing was going to happen to his daughter, to ruin her wedding. So, he quit. He was ahead in the polls, when he quit and could have won that election. But by quitting, he ruined his chances. No one was happy with his explanations, instead all they could see was that he quit, when the times got tough.

This is what Sarah has done. As much as we like her, and think she would be best, too many will never trust her, or vote for her, because she quit. I believe she has been lied to, and convinced to quit, against her best instincts. Whoever told her to quit, was not trying to help her career. They were trying to take out their competition!

Sarah, turn around and do the right thing. Take it back. Do not quit! I do think you are right about the Presidential race. It does have to be someone more than a "regular joe". That is what we need in congress, but we need someone extra ordinary in the Presidential office.

By then, we will be in the position of Venezuela. The communists now have taken over government. But, Bush operatives are still in place, and it will take time for Obama to root all of them out, in every organisation. We can not afford to give him that time. We must strike, and strike quickly! We MUST hand the Democrats defeat in congress-—next year! The longer they are in power, the harder it will be to get rid of communism. They will change the constitution, change congressional districts, make cheating easier....they have started this process now!

Yours is a horrific idea!
