GOP Politicians Pandering to Birthers
Little Green Footballs ^ | July 22, 2009 | Charles Johnson

Posted on 07/22/2009 4:49:16 PM PDT by EveningStar

The insane conspiracy theory called the “Birther movement” is gaining support among Republican politicians. Now there’s actually a bill sponsored by Republicans that panders to these nuts. I hate it when I agree with Chris Matthews, but he’s right on this issue — this madness is embarrassing, self-destructive, and above all mind-bogglingly schtoopid.

And it’s spreading.

The document that he produced was:
1. A poorly made facsimile of a Hawaiian ‘record of live birth 2. A record of live birth does not state the listed person was born in the state of Hawaii. The lawsuits that have been filed, and thrown out, have been for technical reasons and not on the merit of the case. To assume that any fact is established because of what any politician did, or did not, do is weak argument.

It doesn’t matter if I think he’s legit or not, he’s the POTUS. I hope you guys are right, best of luck.

Now, can someone here answer my questions since everyone else has taken shots at me. Seems only fair.

Why didn’t Hillary go after B.O. on this? Why didn’t McCain or Palin? I would feel much more comfortable with the legitimacy of these claims if one of them had taken up the mantle.

Why is it that one of the top loons, Phil Berg - a Truther, mind you - is leading the charge on this?

There is no group I despise more than the truthers who actually believe the US did 9-11 attacks and yet one of their ilk is leading this conspiracy hunt, too? Sorry, that doesn’t sit well with me.

I have spent a lot of time trying to figure out why people on our side denigrate and vehemently condemn us “birthers”.

What makes you think they are really on our side?

We know who Obama’s father was ~ guy with a job or a future ~ girl wasn’t so stupid she’d set up shop with just any third-worlder.

Maybe he just looked great in a dashiki?

Nirther? These people just get dumber and dumber. There is a source document which can be corroborated, RELEASE IT! It doesn’t get any simpler than that.

If he were to produce another document, you would say the same thing.

You're missing the point. We don't want Obami to produce another document, we want the State of Hawaii to produe the document.

As far as I’m concerned, because of all that, the burden of proof is absolutely NOT on him

See post #50.

...the one that was ALREADY presented and ALREADY declared by Hawaii (led by a REPUBLICAN GOVERNOR) as legit.

The only thing the Governor said was that the information on the released COLB matched up to their records. The COLB does NOT answer our question, or prove his place of birth. It only shows where his mother SAYS he was born. You can be born in a hut somewhere in Hawaii or on the moon and still register your birth and get a COLB. The rest of your post is just a rant, not worth a response.

I’d rather attack him daily on his policies and philosophy than going after a citizenship issue that CAN’T BE PROVEN!

It can be proven. And it actually doesn't require a birth certificate. What's required is the 'official' definition of what constitutes a 'natural born citizen'.

Now, if that definition says that both of your parents have to be US citizens, well Obama is screwed. If the definition says it's ok for one or both of your parents to be foreigners as long as you were born on US soil obviously he would be legit. It's as simple as that.

The trick is to get some official ruling on his status. And you are perhaps correct here- it would probably be impossible to get the SCOTUS to rule on it.

But, and this is where it gets interesting. If this bill the Congressman who is in the linked video is talking about gets passed it could be that it would eliminate Barry from running again in 2012. This is what I believe has the Lefties so pissed off about all this. We can accomplish this and I think this is what you anti-birthers are missing. We can maybe eliminate the guy from running again in 2012 and that makes it a legitimate tactic worth pursuing.

He ended up with a degree from Harvard. All things considered that’s not that bad, particularly for a guy from Kenya in those days.

Here’s a clue on the bond between Hillary and 0; they are both very well documented students of Saul Alinsky, which is another reason to raise your antenna. I’m not saying she is a conspirator, but they share common ideological beliefs that are anti-American.

Please read the post I pointed you to earlier.

Amen to Charles on this. Stop the insanity. Either prove he isn’t from Hawaii or drop this. Looks ridiculous for conservatives.

EXACTLY!!! He could make the whole movement look like complete idiots and he won't do it. WHY? Why wouldn't you pull the football out from under them? I sure as hell would if I had the opportunity to do that to Democrats.

Well then all Obami has to do is produce the Long Form, and this whole thing will be put to rest.

Wanna bet? First there will be the people who doubt the Long Form is legitimate. Someone will do a 60 page dissertation about fonts and digital artifacts. Then there are the people who say it doesn't matter where he was born, he lost his citizenship when he was adopted in Indonesia. And then there are the people who say that, because his father was a British citizen, he can't be a natural born US citizen. Then there are the people who still demand to see his college application papers, or the passport records when he traveled to Pakistan, because there might be something there that he's hiding. Just showing the birth certificate won't settle anything for the true believers. It'll just set them to howling about something else.

obviously he would be legit

Obviously, this assumes he was born in Hawaii. Just want to make that clear.

What the hell kind of Commander in Chief would not want to immediately put this thing to rest for the sake of his troops?

WTH kind of CIC would be signing treaties with other country's without proving his legitimacy to do so? What is to keep them from negating anything they have signed on to?

B.O. has already produced a document, yet the birthers say it isn’t good enough.

It was a scan of an unembossed document with the document number blacked out.

That is why I am skeptical.

Don't let this bother you so much. It is a legitimate question. I don't intend to stop wondering and asking just because DEE DEE MEYERS thinks I am a kook. Frankly, I think she is a kook. Yes, there are kooks on our side, That doesn't mean that everyone who asks the question is a kook.

The right side kooks are vastly outnumbered by kooks on the radical left. Now there is a viper pit that breeds nutcases, including almost all of the ones in the WH, Senate, Congress, and Court System. If the middle/right could only get their heads out of their a$$es and see this, the vote would have gone to the right and we would not even be discussing Obama's birth cert because he would be the nobody he really is.

Not only that, on a student visa he took his pregnant girlfriend with him to Kenya just in time to give birth to their son, came back to Hawaii together, and covered up in small-town Hawaii the truth of their son's birth so completely, that to this day no local gossip has ever stepped forward with the truth.

A veritable Svengali he was!

Yes, you did. LGF is a WOT supporter, but NOT a conservative site.

it would probably be impossible to get the SCOTUS to rule on it.

They chickened out several times.

I think in this case, the issue is so important that the SCOTUS has a DUTY to look at the issue, much as they had a duty in 2000 to settle the Bush/Florida debacle. Without their taking the issue, viewing the real evidence in the person, there can be no closure, and Obama does not have legitimacy in many people's minds, including mine.

I really do think the SCOTUS is afraid of this issue. They know if the evidence shows Obama is not really a "natural born citizen" as required, all hell would break loose. So they are comfortable sitting on the issue and hoping it passes, as does Obama.

You said — Amen to Charles on this. Stop the insanity. Either prove he isn’t from Hawaii or drop this. Looks ridiculous for conservatives.

The “look of insanity” is the strategy that the leftists are working on now. It’s their new strategy that is being developed in order to sideline conservatives on other issues. I think the leftists plan on labeling even other conservatives who don’t go after this issue — as birthers — in order to sidetrack them... that’s just what I see happening recently...

And one more thing... :-)

Every time I see the birth certificate issue, I’ve got to pump up WorldNetDaily, since they are on this issue *all the time*...

If you want to go to a legitimate news source that has been on the Obama birth certificate issue for a long time now and does so *consistently* — go to WorldNetDaily...

WorldNetDaily
http://www.wnd.com/

They even pay to have billboards put up around the United States asking “Where is the Birth Certificate?”... I don’t know of any other news source anywhere that has paid to put up these kinds of billboards all over the country.

If you’re interested in the Obama Birth Certificate issue, you’ll find a lot of older articles from them on it, and they always have new articles coming up all the time. They are always hammering away at this issue and it’s a new source that is well worth supporting by going and clicking on their links.

Keep up on the birth certificate issue on WorldNetDaily...

[... I love WorldNetDaily, as they’re a fine news website... :-) ...]

AND..., it’s okay to read up on the issue...
