Today, a human being died. He is now in eternity. Whether or not he made any private repentance of what he did concerning Mary Jo, abortion, or any other sin he committed in this life is not known. We may doubt seriously that he did since he showed no inclination in his public life. But we do not know. Only God knows.
What we do know is that we have a longstanding tradition on Free Republic. We hold our tongues when someone dies. We do not act like the people on Democrat underground who rejoiced when Tony Snow and Ronald Reagan died. We do not make fun or light of death or hell, for they are very serious things indeed; and if Kennedy died without Christ where he is today isn't a place we should wish on anyone (if you understand the implications, you will understand that statement).
Yes, he did a very bad thing in the 60s. He did not get away with it and no amount of Freeper piling on will change things one way or another.
So, while you may have hated the man, please self moderate your comments. We are not the D.U. We are not the Koz. We are Free Republic and we can not allow them to make us into them or we have lost something very important about this site.
I remember that. Not to worry - a FReeper will find it & post it!
Mmmmm. About 0.0002 nanoseconds. Any longer than that is purely optional. Believe me, there are plenty of prayers being offered up this morning to MORE than get him at least a hearing with St. Peter.
Of course, Peter was a pretty solid and grounded person here on earth, maybe his wisdom is tempered with mercy now.
re: De mortuis aut bene aut nihil
My Latin is rusty, but I think it says something about putting dead people on an ant hill. ?
Well said.
Socialism hasnt worked in 6,000 years of recorded history because it didnt have me to run it. - Ted KennedyAnd despite all his efforts to the contrary, it never worked in America either. Even with him as the Jackal of the Senate trying his best to implement it. May God have mercy on his soul...but we are better as a nation with him permanenetly out of that position of power and influence.
Now we have Barrack Hussein Obama and his ilk, who will surely try to use the death of this old, corrupt man, to push through the biggest socialization effort in American history - ObamaCare.
We cannot let it happen. Stand firm, speak out, lean into their storm of word and ideologies...and push them back.
A PETITION ON FACEBOOK FOR CONSTITUTIONAL RESTORATION
A 4TH OF JULY TEA PARTY SPEECH
...and on the lighter side, take your mind off the Obamanation for a few minutes and enjoy some beautiful Western US scenery slideshows.
Satan awaits with open arms
> But, Teddy Chappaquiddick died the same unrepentent murderer that he lived the majority of his life as.
You know that because you were there? What were his last words?? Enquiring minds need to know.
Agreed, but there is a way to deal with that. Go to the threads that have to do with such coverage and correct the record in a civil way. I’m not referring to some of the truthful statements regarding Teddy’s record. I’m referring to the “Burn in hell, Kennedy” type comments. There is a time and place, and the opportunity to express the record will no doubt present itself.
The suggestion of decorum is admirable and I will follow it. Obviously, many chose not to. Now DU is finding fodder for their disdain on our beloved website.
Again, they display their duplicity! They demeaned Reagan in death. Freepers demeaned Kennedy in death. In my book, that is a tie. But to them, it is only our side that did anything wrong.
Same with townhall outcries. Their side has disrupted and disgusted our meetings for years. Now, when we speak out, we are activist thugs!
It is not for his sake we should hold our tongues, but out of consideration for those close of kin he left behind.
I hated the guy as much as anyone here, and am completely revolted by the media fawning, but I feel I owe his close of kin a suitable mourning period before I can let my feelings out.
I know better than to expect the same from his kin, but then again, their own hateful hypocritical brains are the best torture chambers I could hope for them to live in.
Each one of us will get judged in his turn.
I hope some people go to her grave and put some flowers on it. She saved the crippling of America by a few decades...
What? Couldn’t Obama take an hour out of his vacation to raise this poor Lazarus from the tomb?
I'm Tijeras_Slim and I endorse this passing.
In Massachusetts, I’m not so sure we will be better off than Kennedy. At least he sometimes voted with the Military. Whoever replaces him may be even worse.
My condolences to the family. However, people have afforded this family coverup that has not been allowed to anyone else. They are leftist elites who have disregarded the laws of this country because of their name. Patriarch Joe was a bootlegger.
Even today, people choose to ignore some well known reality.
Like his dismal treatment of wife Joan. They say he was a good husband and father. I call BS.
I don’t celebrate his death, I just don’t care but I hope, in his last moments he was visited by the spirits and images of 40 million innocent children he helped to destroy.
Probably a photo op of The Great One by his bedside will be just one..just saying. However, perhaps there was the utmost dignity given with "only close" family surrounding.
Now, Eunice Kennedy Shriver brought, through unselfish love, support to millions of youngsters with disabilities. Her work was humanitarian.
I agree with you that "cheap shots" historically about what everyone is aware only gets play by the Kos, MSNBC who will stoop at nothing for ratings etc. For some here to say, well when Reagan died etc..gets old and is moronic in logic.
Hopefully, Massachusetts does not change the 82 year old law that Kennedy had passed (Romney vacancy, [R] Governor)), and has tried to change back again (2.5 years later).
However, Senator Kennedy once said (my edit) that times have changed since he took office, when politicians on the Hill actually went to work (R&L) each day on government "people" matters and were not out spending the majority of that time flying from state to state only to campaign for the next election.
