I stand corrected: I forgot about Australia. Same idea though - the IOC likely considered the value of holding the games on a continent they’d never been held before. That may not have been the deciding factor, but I’d guess more likely than not it was more of a factor than was American talk radio.

I a retired but when I worked many minority employees would blame someone else for not measuring up, it is a knee jerk reflex with some people regardless of race or background.
