Fox News host, garage band cover guitarist, and former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee will be making a long-planned speech before the New York Conservative Party in Syracuse, New York on October 28, but has thus far declined to say whether he will formally endorse or financially support Conservative Party House candidate Doug Hoffman, who is running to fill former Rep. John McHugh's 23rd Congressional District seat.
Most Republican Party leaders have thus far taken a pass in endorsing Hoffman, who has the support of the conservative Club for Growth, as well as the American Conservative Union. House minority leader John Boehner and his right hand man, Rep. Eric Cantor have refused to get in the middle of the race, while former House Speaker Newt Gingrich and former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney have also declined to support Hoffman.
Huckabee had agreed to attend the dinner for the state party in upstate New York some time ago and is looking forward to using his speech to draw attention to Hoffman, according to a longtime Huckabee aide. But Huckabee has not decided whether to fully endorse Hoffman or just "say some nice things about him to boost his candidacy," says the source, adding, when asked how far Huckabee might go to support the conservative in the race, "We probably won't be going so far as to let him tap into our national fundraising network, if that's what you mean."

Doesn’t mean much. A lot of Republicans are supporting Rubio but not because he’s conservative. Crist has gotten on bad terms with any in the party structure and Jeb Bush and his partisans hate Crist. Not saying Rubio is a bad candidate, just stating there is more than just a battle between conservatives vs liberals/establisment in that race.
Huckabee is a big government Republican who is only despised by the establsihment for one reason. He plays the evangelical card to full hilt. The establishment hates evangelicals. were it not for that or if he was a litle less outspoken they’d love him. Romney is well...Roney. A Phony. A Liberal. Someone who stands on both sides or doesn’t take a stand at all.
If Palin were to show up on the 28th, just across the county, and fully and loudly endorse Hoffman...he’s win in a landslide...and Palin would continue to build her capital.
Huck and Mitt might find the RINO wing a bit small to fight over. But, hell, let them. We conservatives should get behind Sarah and tell them both to go pound sand.
And that, ladies and gentlemen, is the bottom line. Our national party is NEITHER socially or fiscally conservative...and would support ANYONE who cares to don the GOP banner OVER a conservative of any ilk.
Exactly—and it’s to their benefit to keep the small government conservative and the social conservative wings fighting against each other...it keeps us all from realizing that the people in charge are neither.
What are you talking about? The Club for Growth just completely defends the free market, plus Chris Chocola is a former small businessman.
God bless you all,
Jonathan
In 1968, a much younger Newton Gingrich was supporting another NY liberal Repubican named Nelson A. Rockefeller.
Sarah, the time is Now! If ever there was an opportune time to bust into the limelight, it would be now by suddenly swooping in, almost unnanounced, and supporting Hoffman with an impromtu speech and endorsement. It would cause a national riot and a rallying point for all us conservatives out here that are eager to hear from you! It would be a kickoff for 2012!
Mike Huckabee is primarily a moral/social conservative. If the person is not of this variety, I doubt Mike would fully support him. It is really just that simple. I think Sarah Palin is also primarily a moral/social conservative....she probably wouldn’t fully support him either unless he is also.
What is this candidate’s view on abortion, homosexuality, etc.?
If all of the probable ‘12 RINO Presidential candidates decide to support the ‘09 very leftist RINO N.Y. Congressional candidate, then it will only help to boost the serious chances of victory for all of the truly conservative candidates for ‘12 POTUS. Go for it, RINOs!
Here's Hoffman's website: Doug Hoffman for Congress
I don't know much about him either, but his website sure makes him sound Conservative. Endorsed by Fred Thompson and a bunch of other conservative groups. .
Interesting sidepoint in his bio: ". . Before he turned sixteen he had totally rebuilt a 1955 Chevrolet which was to be was to become his first car and the first example of the grit, determination, and can do attitude that has led Doug through life."
Sounds like the right stuff to me. . .
So Huckleberry won’t back a Conservative candidate:
Why in the world would this surprise anyone???
The Huckster is not now and never has been a Conservative: he’s a populist, the kind of guy who’ll say anything he thinks people want to hear.
Like George Wallace, like “Kingfish” Huey P. Long
I feel this race, and Doug Hoffman are critical to the TEA Party movement and conservatives. Whle I believe that cleaning up the Republican party is a better choice than trying to form a third party, I also believe that the TEA Party movement needs to make a strong statement. This race is the opportunity to change the message in races like this from “RINO=loss to Democrat” which the party will try to blame on TEA party activists and conservatives. I think that with national support from Conservatives, FReepers, TEA partiers and 9-12ers, the message can be changed to “RINO=loss to conservative independent,” at least in some districts. This district and this race are well suited to field testing this approach.
Please, send Hoffman a donation. I wish we would get behind him as strongly as we got behind Joe Wilson last month.
Markos Moulitsas, founder of The Daily Kos has endorsed Scozzafava. Dede Scozzafava has also been endorsed by NYSUT, the largest labor union in New York, and an affiliate of the National Education Association.
Scozzafava also holds these positions:
Scozzafava has also run in past elections on the Working Families Party (a progressive party associated with ACORN) line on the ballot.
This lady isn’t a RINO, she is a big “R” democRat.
There are also 17 RINOs in the house who have donated funds to this Liberal democRat's campaign. They include Boehner and Cantor. I don’t have a full list, but I will be looking for it. These RINOs should be targeted for elimination in the primaries next year.

Romney is kissing up to the GOP establishment. He’ll do whatever the establishment tells him to do.
Huckabee wants to be the grassroot conservative alternative to Romney. However, Huckabee’s PAC is doing lousy on fundraising. Huckabee will need to maintain some type of bridge to the RNC if he wants to run in 2012.
>>>IMO, both Romney and Huck are sniveling opportunists who care only about returning to power hand-in-hand with the establishment GOPregardless of the consequences for conservatism and the country.
At the end of the day, I bet your statement above is spot on!
bump
was in the 23rd last week ... and am planning my next trip now. RINO Dede is imploding. She will finish in 3rd place. Some people “can’t see the forest for the trees.”
More RINOs coming out of the woodwork
He likes the winds blowing from Vichy.
