What the hell is it with her and the belts?? That outfit would have been just fine - nope, gotta grab a mini-corset. A brassiere is sufficient to keep the girls in place, really - put. the. belt. away.

Some of those outfits aren't too bad. That black sequin sheath is quite flattering on her, as is the emerald green v-neck satin frock, and the magenta dress. I even like that look with the black shawl collar long sweater over the leggings; she's young enough to still pull that off.
All those others are either just not flattering, or they're not appropriate for being out in public, as First Lady. The shorts and slouchy shirt at the Grand Canyon, is an example of inappropriate; she didn't need to wear pearls and luxe fabrics, but she could have donned some nice looking Eddie Bauer outfit that could have looked a lot more put-together. And I wish someone would sneak into the White House one night an steal that hideous boob belt!!
As I've said before, she can be attractive, when she wants to be, and has a statuesque figure that can carry off some interesting designs, but she needs to have someone styling her wardrobe for every occasion, formal, business and informal. I NEVER saw Laura Bush not looking put-together, even if she were just wearing slacks and a sweater.

Why she goes with the latter rather than the former as a matter of course I really don’t understand.
