Fort Hood soldier describes horrific scene to family in Utah (Shooter shouted Allah Akbar)
KSL television ^ | October 5, 2009

The news of the mass shooting at Fort Hood Thursday hit close to home for some Utahns. One man says his daughter heard the shooter exclaim "Allah Akbar" as he opened fire.

We want to stress that no government or military officials are reporting that and there is no way for us to independently confirm that it is true.

The family from northern Utah agreed to talk to us, on the condition we not identify them and blur out some photos they've supplied, because they're worried their daughter could get in trouble with her superiors for making public what she told her family she saw.

The soldier's father says his daughter was at Fort Hood Thursday when the shooting happened, and she called him, frantic and upset, soon after.

"She said, ‘Dad, I'm OK. Don't worry, I'm OK.' And initially I said, ‘What are you talking about?' She said, ‘Haven't you heard?' And I said, ‘No.' And she said, ‘We've been attacked by terrorists,'" the father explained.

He told KSL News soldiers were sitting in a staging area for medical and dental checks when the group was startled by gunfire.

"A person behind counter stood up, and he said, ‘Allah Akbar!' And just opened up on everybody," the father told us.

In that context, I can see that “god” may be the appropriate word after all. Kind of like the god of hell fire.

"No one had to die if he was stopped with all the warning flags that were there"

First, it's absolutely horrible that a pregnant woman was killed, as if this horror needed anything more.

I'm hesitant to believe initial reports about any of these spree killers with respect to "warning flags". Having said that, if these reports are true, then there will be some people getting relieved of duty.

The UCMJ (military law) doesn't allow service men and women to make political statements, question command authority or to question the decisions of the Command-in-Chief. If reports are to be believed, this guy did all of that and more. There should have been an investigation, at a minimum. And, if the allegation proved to be with merit, there should have been disciplinary actions taken - which would mean a court-martial for an officer. The people who didn't report these statement are derelict in there duty, and if they were reported, then command has some explaining to do about why they weren't formally investigated and prosecuted.

My 3rd grader came home today, said he had a substitute teacher. He said the teacher is part Arabic and that he wrote hello and goodbye in Arabic on the chalk board, and my child was able to say it. Needless to say, I am going to have a chat that I am not sending my kid to school to learn Arabic. Am I over reacting?

allahu akbar: Commonly MIS-translated as ‘god is great’ it means the muslim ‘god,’ allah, is grestEST. The distinction is critical.

When you hear that shouted, what they’re REALLY saying is THEIR ‘god’ is greatEST, that is, GREATER than all other Gods, Christian, Jewish, etc.

I’m wondering when he got the “call” to do this and by whom? An Imam perhaps? By the way, as Glen Beck said long ago, don’t get so focused on watching one hand (Ft. Hood) that you fail to notice what the other hand (Socialized Healthcare) is busy passing.

Makes one wonder if this is a Government-backed event to distract us all from passage of Gov’t-controlled healthcare. After all, how can one explain that this creep be allowed to stay in the Military, and also, Obama has all kinds of Muslim connections doesn’t he?

I will give props to KSL for not releasing the name, I just hope the station can stand up to pressure from the FedGov, should they choose to pursue the matter. And if they do, the station will no doubt tell us about that as well.

I have no problem with KSL. However, if the USG were worth a damn, General Cone would have been the source for story, not somebody's daughter afraid to give her name.

Mod: You might want to consider place (Muslim Exclamative), right after “Allah Ahkbar” in this thread title. Just a suggestion.

I am certainly not trying to soften my dislike for Hasan. Just questioning if there is some connection to his support of Obozo and what happened today.

Nonetheless. the army being aware firsthand of his issues, is no consolation to those grieving or those who lost their lives. Fort Hood is 339 sq. miles & 52k troops this year have been there. I question how he picked his victims. His location. This was very premeditated IMO

I will pass this along to Jon & his family. Thank you. The odds of this are proof of when God calls he calls. Of 339 sq miles and 52,000 troops passing through Fort Hood, her & her baby were murdered today
