Vanity: Let Cool Heads Prevail

Posted on 11/07/2009 7:07:40 PM PST by Patriot2A

My dear Conservatives:

Tonight, as I sit at home sipping some vodka, trying to kill the pain caused by 20 years of wear and tear on my body courtesy of the U.S. Navy, I am watching the debate leading to the vote on Pelosi-care health reform bill. As many of you, I am livid, pissed off, mad and frustrated at the arrogance of our elected officials and their attempts to -once more- subvert the Constitution, impose yet another Federal mandate on the States, and ignore the People's will. I have read some calls to action from people on this forum that, taken out of context, can be used against us, true Conservatives, at a later time. Remember that what you post online today, will remain online forever.

I urge all of us to be patient, let the system work and let your representatives vote according to their conscience(s). If this bill passes, and once it gets signed by the President, we will most likely see that legal challenges to the bill will make it all the way to the SCOTUS. IF and WHEN SCOTUS decides on the constitutionality of this government takeover of 1/6th of the US economy -and we are forced to heed by newly created law by Congress- THEN we can take action AS PROVIDED by the CONSTITUTION in the form of redress, civil disobedience and other tactics.

I am as (or more) passionate about this matter than any of you. I am impatient by nature, and I am pissed off. But we need to measure our words, control our impulses and focus our efforts. WE are BETTER than that! Let the liberals and the fringe left fight it out and make fools of themselves.

Let's be wise, wait for the right moment, choose the time, the place and the method of action...

America is already engaged in an uncivil war of ideas, thanks to class warfare, identity politics, race-baiting and a failing public-education system, courtesy of progressive policies of the last 100 years. So far, the battle has been fought on the lamestream media and the internet. We have taken to the streets by the hundreds of thousands in the form of Tea Parties, townhall meetings, etc.

May God help our Republic if this war ever goes kinetic. The repercussions would be unthinkable and the cost in lives and treasure would be disastrous. Let's not give the libs a reason to pigeonhole us into a category of extremists because of one of our fine-members' visceral (albeit well intended) comments.

But then again, maybe it is time to thin the herd...and renew the tree of liberty.

God bless America and may God bless all of you.

Worse. They give us the illusion that we can change things. That we can still rectify things by using THEIR system and THEIR rules.

Anyone else notice how well that's working these days?

These sorts of seditionist activities have been attempted before, here is ample historical perspective.

"A nation can survive its fools and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and he carries his banners openly against the city. But the traitor moves among those within the gates freely, his sly whispers rustling through all alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears no traitor; he speaks in the accents familiar to his victim, and he wears their face and their garments and he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation; he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of a city; he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murderer is less to be feared. The traitor is the plague." - Marcus Tullius Cicero, Roman Orator --- 106-43 B.C.

"Moderation in principle is always a vice." "Society in every state is a blessing, but government, even in its best state, is but a necessary evil." --Tom Paine.

"Government is not the solution, it's the problem." --Ronald Reagan.

"Congress has not unlimited powers to provide for the general welfare but only those specifically enumerated." --Thomas Jefferson.

"Charity is no part of the legislative duty of the government." --James Madison.

"Necessity is the plea for every infringement of human freedom. It is the argument of tyrants; it is the creed of slaves."
-- William Pitt

"I find no warrant for such an appropriation in the Constitution, and I do not believe that the power and the duty of the General Government ought to be extended to the relief of individual suffering which is in no manner properly related to the public service or benefit... The friendliness and charity of our countrymen can always be relied upon to relieve their fellow citizens in misfortune. This has been repeatedly and quite lately demonstrated. Federal aid in such cases encourages the expectation of paternal care on the part of the Government and weakens the sturdiness of our national character, while it prevents the indulgence among our people of that kindly sentiment and conduct which strengthens the bonds of a common brotherhood." —President Grover Cleveland

"The strength of the Constitution lies entirely in the determination of each citizen to defend it. Only if every single citizen feels duty bound to do his share in this defense are the constitutional rights secure." -- Albert Einstein

"The only purpose for which power can be rightfully exercised over any member of a civilized community, against his will, is to prevent harm to others. His own good, either physical or moral, is not a sufficient warrant." -- John Stuart Mill, "On Liberty" 1859

"Of all tyrannies, a tyranny exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It may be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end, for they do so with the approval of their consciences." C.S. Lewis

"The powers delegated by the proposed Constitution to the federal government are few and defined [and] will be exercised principally on external objects, as war, peace, negotiation and foreign commerce."
--James Madison, Federalist Paper No. 45

"The powers delegated by the proposed Constitution to the federal government are few and defined [and] will be exercised principally on external objects, as war, peace, negotiation and foreign commerce."
--James Madison, Federalist Paper No. 45 "No one can read our Constitution without concluding that the people who wrote it wanted their government severely limited; the words 'no' and 'not' employed in restraint of government power occur 24 times in the first seven articles of the Constitution and 22 more times in the Bill of Rights."
--Edmund A. Opitz

"Society in every state is a blessing, but government, even in its best state, is but a necessary evil; in its worst state an intolerable one; for when we suffer or are exposed to the same miseries by a government, which we might expect in a country without government, our calamity is heightened by reflecting that we furnish the means by which we suffer."
--Thomas Paine, Common Sense, 1776

The two enemies of the people are criminals and government, so let us tie the second down with the chains of the constitution so the second will not become the legalized version of the first.
--Thomas Jefferson Experience hath shewn, that even under the best forms [of government] those entrusted with power have, in time, and by slow operations, perverted it into tyranny.
--Thomas Jefferson

"We, the People are the rightful masters of both Congress and the courts -- not to overthrow the Constitution, but to overthrow men who pervert the Constitution." -- Abraham Lincoln

"Experience should teach us to be most on our guard to protect liberty when the government's purposes are beneficient. The greatest dangers to liberty lurk in insidious encroachment by men of zeal, well-meaning but without understanding." -- Supreme Court Justice Louis Brandeis

And finally, Claire Wolf that said, "America is at an akward stage. Its too late to work within the system and too early to start shooting the bastards."!

Please. It’s game over man. The Senate will pass it and it will become law. 2010 will be too late. Nobody’s going to do a damn thing to stop it either. There will be no civil unrest or revolution or civil war. We’re screwed.

We have no Constitution, they don't follow it, why should we?

And they were so "in your face!" about it today on CSPAN. They were signalling very openly to us that they don't give a damn about the Constitution.

I take umbrance to that remark. No it is not game over. Health Care can be made more accessible via state to state offerings and tort reform. The shit that the liberals are pushing will be the end of their career.

Sorry if I lumped everybody together. I was just in such a state of shock last night.

Most Hispanics are perfect for conservatives because of their values. We have failed the illegals by not dealing with immigration reform 20 years ago.

It will not be much longer before they will put the internet under their control.

Comments like those on this thread will not be tolerated.

I have no idea how it is done, but we hear that Chinese and other people who live in countries that censor the news have devised ways to get news and communicate over the internet in spite of their government's attempt to censor.

We need to learn all we can about how that is done, for the day is coming when information will be controlled.

You have already seen the writings and videos of Mark Lloyd, and he is only one of many.

Without the internet, very few of us would be as informed as we are about what is happening. They know that and they will make changes.

As for the suggestions that it is time for a rebellion, remember that as has happened in so many countries, the government that replaced a bad government was frequently worse than the original.

The result of chaos is not predictable.

Also, one must think about it with cold logic. If you get mad and shoot someone, withing 24 hours you will be in prison. So what have you accomplished? One dimrat shot, one person in prison. End of story.

Can you get 10 million or even one million to step up on the same day and march, whether armed or unarmed, against the dimrats?

Not likely and it will take numbers like that for the participants to survive force and imprisonment.

Therefore, it is my belief that freedom of information is the most valuable of all tools available to us. Note that I don't say freedom of the press, as the press is no longer free. It is owned by dimrats and their fellow travelers.

It is by the internet that we will remain able to learn and communicate our beliefs and it must either remain totally uninfluenced by government or we must learn how to communicate in spite to the government.

Because it is also by the internet that we will teach others what we know.

Protect your privacy. Replace Google with IXQUICK at www.ixquick.com.

If we do not wish to lose our freedom, we must learn to tolerate our
neighbor's right to freedom even though he might express that freedom
in a manner we consider to be eccentric.

Dredd Scott waited for SCOTUS. And then they found he was even a full human.

It is WE THE PEOPLE who have final say over what is Constitutional and what is not.

Agree with all you said. I’ve not personally committed to an armed rebellion. If i have posted anything close to that, which i don’t think i have, i must’ve been very angry at the time.

In fact, a few weeks back, i posted that our guns are not gonna do us much good when the time comes. I got called on it by one guy that i can think of, possibly two. But those people just have their heads in the sand.
