Did Nebraska Get Screwed ? (NCAA Big XII )
December 06 2009 | self

Was it me or did the refs give Texas a second chance after Texas QB Colt McCoy ran a play trailing by two points with only six seconds left, rolled out and threw the ball away and out of bounds as the clock ticked down to 0.00 and then the referee`s whistle blew.

Texas coach Mack Brown demanded an extra second to kick a field goal and the officials obliged him. Texas kicked the field goal and won the game.

I only saw the reply once with audio and clearly heard the official`s whistle blow after the clock showed 0.00 on the clock.

Nebraska got screwed.

So the Heisman is awarded based on the best performance of December 5, 2009? That's rich.

Then Suh should pick up the trophy. Actually, he should win it anyway.

The rankings all year long are based on “prettier” wins except for the last game. Why should Texas deserve it more than TCU, Boise State or even Cincinnati?

I want to see play offs. The top six with the top rank taking a bye after one game and then play the winner of the second round.

That way the stupid point system is still in play if thats what they want. And it would be very important to be top dog.

You’re not grasping the concept here.

That’s why my idea is that in the following regular season, every BCS team has to play two games against other BCS teams. Now it’s not perfect, in that from year-to-year, teams will drop off due to graduation, but in the absence of a playoff, it will provide a way for good teams to play each other.

Perhaps because TCU didn't play any good teams?

I see exactly the concept here, teams like TCU, Boise State (undefeated for 2 years) or even Cincinnati don't stand a chance with the current system.

If the game were played in your mind I’m quite sure Alabama would crush Texas....unfortunately for the tide they’ve got to beat Colt/Shipley and the Texas defense on the field...Texas by at least a touchdown maybe more.

The coach didn’t ask for a review on those other calls because those individual seconds don’t matter when there’s 13 minutes left in the game.
I’ve heard every complaint in the book from Nebraska fans. They were complaining because on the pass interference call the full fifteen yards was assessed instead of half the distance. In the NCAA rule book, the full fifteen yards is assessed unless the penalty would advance the ball inside the two. In that case, it’s put at the two. In this case it was put at the four, so correct call. That rule is unique to pass interference in the end zone. In other penalties, it’s half the distance to the goal if the distance to the goal is less than twice the distance of the penalty.
In the case of the ball going out of bounds, the time of the end of the play is a reviewable call. Brown asked for a review, got it, and it showed the ball contacting something other than a referee or player. By rule, it is a dead ball at that time, and if there is time on the clock when there is a review, it is put back on the clock. Whether it’s a tenth of a second or five seconds left. If there’s any time left on the clock another play is run.
Another site was complaining that the referees didn’t call holding on Texas enough. Nebraska lost. That’s what happened.

and the Texas defense on the field...

Oh. Santa Claus is going to bring Texas a defense for Christmas?

Texas, Alabama, Florida, and so forth play cupcake teams for filler.

TCU and Boise State play cupcake teams every fricking week as the meat of their schedule.

That’s why you’re always bridesmaids. Get used to it. Or fix it by manning up on the schedule.

BTW, Cincinnati has much more reason to be upset than either TCU or Boise State. They’re a far better team than either TCU or Boise State, and played a tough schedule to boot.

The 8th best defense in the country, playing in the best conference with the best offenses, doesn’t need Santa to deliver anything.

The Texas defense is very good. Who do you think Muschamp learned from?

After Texas gets romped on by Alabama everyone will be claiming that the BSC should have had a better match-up.

Alabama and Texas are ranked 2 and 3, respectively, in total defense. Source: http://web1.ncaa.org/mfb/natlRank.jsp?year=2009&rpt=IA_teamtotdef&site=org&div=IA&dest=O

So Santa doesn’t see your point.

You mean, like Utah (the last team to beat--no thrash--Alabama) and BYU (the team that smacked Oklahoma silly to start the season)? And Clemson too?

Stupid comment. You obviously don't know suck about football.
