The whole article is worth a read but anyone not drinking the liberal kool-aid can figure out what's really at play here. The lefties are starting to redefine death (just as they try to redefine life in abortion cases) to excuse killing people for convenience.

Right now it is for organ donation. But can there be any doubt that, once the precedent is set and accepted, the progressives won't be using these rules to decide who lives and who dies under Obamacare?

All I have to say is, I’m GLAD I had my cardiac arrest last year. If I have another one once government controlled health care becomes the law of the land, well...nice knowing you all.

I haven’t read the entire article but the headline is scary enough to make me want to rip the ‘donor’ sticker off of my driver’s license.

This is precisely why Mrs. Submareener and I are no longer organ donors! We want to use our until we are really dead.

If “Cardiac Arrest” is the new criteria for the declaration of the cessation of life, this will put all the Cardiac Doctors, Defibrulator Companies, and First Responders out of business./sarc.

When the State says it does, silly.

Maybe you can get a new one without the donor.

I never filled it out for my driver's license. I don't mind my relatives donating my organs after I'm dead, but I want them to decide if I'm really dead, not the state or even some doctor, who doesn't care.

Death starts at the moment of conception. Clearly there are many difficult issues to be resolved in end of life decisions, so it is important to have a disinterested panel of government experts weighing the quality of life/lives not worth living along the continuum.

Too late for that now isn't it?

If we keep heading down this socialist path, then pretty soon we (members of FR and conservatives in general) will be herded up and sent to camps where the good little progressives can harvest our organs...

“ORGANS” are a multi-billion dollar industry...a cash cow - and YOU and I are the source of parts.

I think they already have changed to having the right to
‘harvest’ you even if you don't have a ‘donor card’. They now ‘assume’ you're okay with it unless you have “NO” card in your pocket.

IF they don't have to have a “DONOR” card, they can ignore anything to the contrary. We'd be smart to have a huge notice in our medical records, our pockets and a signed/notarized notice with our family on our wishes.

Here we are at a time when it's proven that coma patients and ‘brain dead’ patients can come through it, given time for the body to recoup. ‘Brain dead’ is a phony diagnosis invented to be able to harvest organs while still viable.

And a ‘living will’ does NOT protect like we think. YOu might want to look into “My Will to Live” rather that the ‘Living Will.”

I had my cardaic arrest seven years ago & a near death experience to the other side. You are correct if our arrests occur under Obama’s watch just get the shovel ready to dig grave. I am concern about getting my next pacemaker/defib in a few years. Thank God I had a replcement this past March but seven more years will put me on death panel watch as I pace 100%.

I made it through page 2, until I read the statement that mistakes in the brain dead classification were “potentionally tragic, but extremely rare”... Really? Potentionally - as in, might be??

God help us.

Very important post, and I will go back and finish reading it, but it will have to be in bits and pieces.

I believe death starts for America when DIM-oc-RATS are in the majority.

” . . . the part of the brain where desires, fears and hopes are created — was irreversibly damaged.”

The brain is a mechanism that can be used by the soul. Desires, fears, and hopes are never “created” by the brain; these are functions of the soul.

Man is a living soul-—that is not part of the physical being, but the spiritual side. The body is merely a tent; a covering. A soul is an individual (hence, desires, fears, hopes, etc.) The spirit is like wind (pneumas) (Genesis 1 & 2)

We can see the body; the tent. The soul may be called our “ghost,” and it has a bodily shape, and is spoken of in the Scripture as having bodily parts. The rich man in Luke 16 lifted up his EYES in hell, and asked Abraham to send Lazaraus to put water on his TONGUE. That is a SOUL (and he is still there!); his body was placed in a grave somewhere.

The soul is not in the cranium. The brain is used by the soul as a processing device, but the brain does not “create” personal attributes.

I believe this will reduce the amount of folks signing the back of a drivers license or even stay on or sign up for an organ donor program...

It may develop into folks signing up for refusals to donate organs in any situation or condition...

Which may be what the liberal statists want in the first place...

This is going to reuire a little more study...

Let’s try this blood replacement deal! How about on New York Times writers? editors? They’ll just love that saline solution.
