The south side of Chicago is a very violent place. Sad to say for the decent people who live there. The criminal gang element there has made that place a war zone.agreed, as a ChiTown FR want to add some background. Take the worst area of any city you live in and mutiply it by 5. Thats 47/State, 47/Michigan, 47/Prarie. This is Dorothy Tillman's former ward.
On 47/State a line of dangerous housing developments called the Robert Taylor were tore down the last 6 years and the residents scattered.
This guy was lucky, much worse could've happed walking around near midnight wearing a suit in that neighborhood.

I’ve read a few books by former FBI agents. THe only common thread is regardless of if they are concealing their identites or not, if you end up being transported from one place to another, 99.9% you end up dead.

Every city needs a map like this (called the "Where not to get lost if you're white" map).

Its just so much easier to say it was a warning shot.Actually, claiming that it was a "warning shot" could get you into a heap o' trouble. In essence, you are telling the nice officers that you discharged your firearm (i.e. used deadly force) before you felt you were in imminent danger of death or great bodily harm. In other words, if you had time to consider and then execute a "warning shot", then you had the time and the opportunity to do something else; like run or call 911. What you want to do is tell investigators that you shot with the intent to kill your attacker because you were in fear for your life and the use of deadly force was your only option.
(YMMV)

Counting down to the tragic story of little Tawniqua and Shenequa's mother who, being forced into a life of crime to support her drug habit (which she acquired to cope with the stress of global warming), was ruthlessly gunned down by a white man in a hail of cop-killer bullets... ...which is why the county should be sued for not providing free body armor for miscreants..(/s, as if!)

Maybe, but if someone ran into the line of fire of a warning shot while committing a crime, they were close enough to be an imminent threat.

In a practical sense, that’s true. However, if you claim that it was a “warning shot”, then you are telling the cops that in fact they weren’t close enough to be a threat. An anti-gun prosecutor would have no problem claiming that your recklessness lead to the “victim’s” death.
If you shoot at someone in self defense, you always tell the cops that you were shooting to kill because you were in fear for your own life. You never fire a “warning shot”. You never shoot to wound. “Honestly officer, it was him or me. I tried my best to kill him.”

Well, it was more of a joke, but a warning shot could be fired when you felt you were in imminent danger, but you attempted to make it non-leathal.

The man said he was robbed at gunpoint about 11 p.m. while he was walking to a corner store near 47th and South Prairie. He said he was then forced into a sedan with the gunman and four others, all of whom appeared to be in their teens.
Too bad he didn't get off four other "warning shots."

The man, who was wearing a suit, may have looked like an easy target to the robbers, a law enforcement source said.
I wonder if the remaining yutes will be more or less likely to go after a guy in a suit hereafter.

About 6,000 feet. I've ridden by that spot a bunch of times coming home on the 47th St bus from the Red Line.
