Glenn Beck on birther issue: 'Dumbest thing I've ever heard'
World Net Daily ^ | 01/04/2009 | Drew Zahn

Posted on 01/05/2010 1:52:27 PM PST by autumnraine

On the air today, popular radio host Glenn Beck mocked "birthers" and claimed there is a concerted campaign to get those questioning Barack Obama's constitutional eligibility onto the airwaves – a strategy Beck said would actually benefit Obama.

"There's always games being played behind the scenes at a talk radio show," Beck said. "Rush has always called them seminar callers. But instead of being coy with the seminar callers or with you, I'm just going to expose the game that is going on. Today there is a concerted effort on all radio stations to get birthers on the air."

"I have to tell you, are you working for the Barack Obama administration?" Beck scoffed. "I mean, that's the dumbest thing I've ever heard."

The ongoing dialogue then spun off into ridicule as Beck caricatured those who question the sitting president's eligibility with straw-man arguments reminiscent of jibes made by Obama's apologists in other news outlets.

Beck defined birthers as people who believe Obama was born in Kenya or other foreign country, was raised as a Manchurian candidate and somehow brainwashed Hillary Clinton into not exposing his fraud. According to Beck's running joke, birthers believe someone – maybe Obama's KGB "control" – preemptively placed Obama's birth announcement in 1961 Hawaiian newspapers with a "roadmap" of getting an African man into office.

As for Obama producing a long-form birth certificate to actually prove his place of birth, Beck questioned, "Why do that when these people ['birthers'] are so discrediting themselves?"

Get the must-wear clothing item for 2010! "Where's the birth certificate" T-shirt!

The radio host further argued that by distracting the public from actionable issues, "birthers" have become "a dream come true" for Obama, an ideal situation akin to the fantasies of adolescent boys after Hollywood bombshells.

He's just a village idiot, not a leader in any regard. He's just a useful idiot - nothing more

He's a basically likeable idiot, and that's what makes him useful. Hillary was not so likeable, she lost, he won. Biden is an even bigger idiot, probably not even trainable to mouth the right words.

Do we really want the Supremes as the ultimate authority in every conceivable situation?

No, but we do want them to enforce the Constitution, as is their function.

The judicial Power shall extend to all Cases, in Law and Equity, arising under this Constitution, the Laws of the United States, and Treaties made, or which shall be made, under their Authority;
...
In all Cases affecting Ambassadors, other public Ministers and Consuls, and those in which a State shall be Party, the supreme Court shall have original Jurisdiction. In all the other Cases before mentioned, the supreme Court shall have appellate Jurisdiction, both as to Law and Fact, with such Exceptions, and under such Regulations as the Congress shall make.

We've have the big soap box denied to us, we've failed at the ballot box, don't you think we should give the jury box a try before invoking that final box?

I contend that giving the judicial system the extra- if not un-constitutional power to remove an elected president is perhaps as dangerous as allowing an ineligible official to serve out his term.

If he's not eligible, he's not President, elected or otherwise.

I've even seen some suggestions that the military should remove him as being unqualified. I think most Americans, even most birthers, can recognize this as a contender for the worst idea in American history.

Not if they have absolute proof of his ineligibility. Because they would not be removing a President, they would be escorting an illegal occupant off of federal property.

For starters, being a dual citizen wouldn’t disqualify you if you had native born American citizenship. The U.S. doesn’t punish dual citizenship.

The Constitution requires that the President be a Natural Born Citizen, which is not the same as a native born one. The US doesn't punish dual citizenship, but it doesn't recognize it either.

Are those under 35 being punished by not being eligible to be President? What about those who have not lived in the US for 14 years?

Obama is constitutionally ineligible, and is counting on our not being disciplined enough, or smart enough, to enforce our fundamental law.

And he's already won that bet once, just by being elected. He probably figures if he stonewalls the issue long enough, he'll continue to enjoy his winnings.

According to the Constitution, applying it to a sitting president takes a majority of the House and two thirds of the Senate.

How can someone not eligible to *be* President, be a "sitting president"?

Its a real conundrum isn’t it?

Myself I think an alternative government should arise from America and I’m not whistlin Dixie here. The lies went too long, the bribes too far to too many, its too corrupt with a terminal cancer.

I think its time to start a new government from scratch, even if its called illegal and has to be done secretly.

If we cannot correct the problem we sure can write it off like a totaled car, time for a new one.

“Occam’s Razor tells us there’s something really big being hidden.”

Ahhhh... No.

Occam’s Razor states that a problem should be stated in its basic and simplest terms. In science, the simplest theory that fits the facts of a problem is the one that should be selected.

This rule is interpreted to mean that the simplest of two or more competing theories is preferable and that an explanation for unknown phenomena should first be attempted in terms of what is already known.

I am so sick of seeing people use the birth announcement in the newspaper as “proof”. In my town and all across the country, we know that reporters used to go to the local registers and post this stuff in the paper. We also know that Hawaii allowed people to register births of babies not born there. So if his birth occurred elsewhere but was registered there, it would be posted in the paper along with all the others. Why is no one questioning the number on the COLB Obama posted. It has 1961 while the twins born the next day had 61 without the 19. That makes no sense to me. The numbering system would not change. Also, I will never believe that a birth certificate would list “African” for the father. Registrars follow formats laid out by agencies higher up. They don’t just type whatever they want. They have certain choices and that wasn’t one of them. Also, having had two children, I know that I would not have flown thousands of miles with my newborn baby in the first few weeks. That is the clincher for me. I think Ann gave birth in Canada or Washington state. She was enrolled in classes there within weeks of the birth not in Hawaii.

Thank you for that lucid interjection.

Any explanation of Obama’s birth place using the fewest assumptions possible will not lead to the conclusion Birthers want.

The birthers should read your tagline and take it to heart!

It is time for them to all give up and cry “uncle.”

“Also, I will never believe that a birth certificate would list “African” for the father..”

I've always wondered on this point.

Let's assume for the sake of argument that BHO’s mother gave birth in Hawaii. If she and BHO Sr. were at the hospital, one of them would likely fill out the info form that the hospital would use for BC information. Likely BHO Sr. as mom would be busy at that moment...

Would a Kenyan in 1961, filling out such a form, refer to himself as a “Negro”?

This is well before my time, but it doesn't seem surprising to me that a Kenyan would refer to himself as an “African” rather than a “Black” or a “Negro”.

I have this perception of “Negro” being a American term.

Kind of how if I read “Colored” I'd think America. But if I read “fuzzy-wuzzy” I'm thinking British....

Entirely a question of perception, I suppose.

I don’t see how anyone who’s spent even 5 hours of reading about this would think it’s nothing, ludicrous, makes conservatives look bad, etc. What to speak of scorn and ridicule.

You are not correct. She was not eligible under immigration laws at the time to transfer citizenship based solely on her own status as she was not old enough.
