BJ LAWSON: THE NON-INTERVENTIONIST

BJ Lawson states: “As a fellow noninterventionist, I know that Adam Kokesh also represents the future of principled politics, and the Republican Party. Please join me in wishing him and his campaign a happy birthday.” http://blog.lawsonforcongress.com/2009/01/23/lobbyings-return-on-investment/

Definition: Nonintervention or non-interventionism is a foreign policy which holds that political rulers should avoid alliances with other nations, but still retain diplomacy, and avoid all wars not related to direct territorial self-defense. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Non-interventionism

This Poem describes what I think perfectly..... First they came for the communists, and I did not speak out-- because I was not a communist; Then they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out-- because I was not a socialist; Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out-- because I was not a trade unionist; Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out-- because I was not a Jew; Then they came for me-- and there was no one left to speak out for me. Since my scrutiny of all congressional candidates is going to be very thorough - I have been digging a bit deeper than usual. I came across this in one of Dr. Lawson's blogs from his past election and was not particularly surprised - considering he opposes the Iraq war...and probably any war for that matter. I am from Queens, NY. I was there for 9/11. I remember all to well the feelings of panic, despair, anger, disbelief and immense sadness. I have one cousin in the NYPD and another who left for Iraq about 9 months after 9/11 - he was 19 and in the 101st airborne. I remember my husband going to work - he's an ER doctor...they were preparing for an onslaught of traumas....but there were suprisingly few because most victims had been killed.

I could go on and on about every minute of that day -- but my point is -- I don't want leaders of our country sticking their head in the sand...nor do I want those that are trigger happy. What I want is for people to call it what it is -- and stand up for their convictions and not just spew out useless rhetoric that does nothing to protect our borders.

I asked my cousing - the one who went to Iraq - who is deaf in one ear and suffers from PTSD (he is considered lucky)....just last night I asked him if the war was a mistake - I asked him after his 3 tours in Iraq....I would think he has pretty good insight. He sadly replied, "no, nah, wasn't a mistake....but it's a long story."

He now works for the government in intelligence -- occasionally he'll call saying "don't go to any malls or stadiums for a few weeks...." or "not a good time to fly anywhere" that's all he says. The last time I got a phone call like that was about 3 months before the underwear bomber. Coincidence?? Don't know. But...he says the chatter is high.

remember the poem "first they came" next time one boasts being a non-interventionist.

I am, I guess, an non-interventionist. I want to see true safety at our borders and throughout the country as wel as incisive small ops to defend ourselves. I want to see an armed and prepared citizen military. With the latest equipment. Initially only for US landed citizens but expanding to landless citizens with recommendations.

It’s past time to pull in our horns. The Europeans have to begin doing for themselves. Why we have US troops in Europe seventy years after WWII is beyond me.

We can’t afford this anymore. America can be more effective interaltionally if we pick our fights...we were never cut out to run an empire. This was Teddy Roosevelt’s idea, and it was never a good one.

I hear what you are saying....but if the scenario you paint were to come to pass....then you would be ok having a war on US soil...because that’s what would happen if we were attacked - especially if we did not form alliances with other countries.

There have been and will be wars on us soil. Count on it. Whether we are well defended or not will determine their outcome. As will our intellegence and small strike forces.

Right now, we are not safe. We are secure. Cameras and the tripe of “Homeland security” is not safe. Safe is about protection in the moment. Security is about finding out “who did it?”

Let’s be safe.
