Take the name Ron Paul out of it and ask yourself what this really means. He’s a lousy candidate for POTUS.

You’re smart. You can figure it out.

It wasn't until 2007 (the beginning of the primaries) did a large amount of freepers (the RINO Bushbots amongst us) start blasting Ron Paul with lies

There is a reason most people at this site don't like Ron Paul and it is based on the words that have come out of his mouth which are facts not lies. You should face up to what he is and not what you would like him to be.

No more CPAC for me. They are making a joke out of the movement.

Ever notice how few Paulestinians there are here at what many consider the furthest-right mainstream political website on the Internet? Why would that be, do you think?

I would agree that Ron Paul is correct about Constitutional matters. However, his isolationist thinking is dangerous. And Libertarianism is good in theory, but not a realistic system. It is a system that would operate as a Trojan horse for tyranny.

Theoretical politics does have an intellectual appeal. However, as conservatives, we have a system that needs our attention; not something you would find at the end of the Santa Monica Pier in your Nike shoes.

A good overview for sure. I won’t disagree with any particular part but only offer a comment or two without doing a lot of indepth thinking about it.

I believe that for many individuals idealism, political outlook and overall risk taking changes with maturity. I believe that youth has its place as that is the time for really exploring and developing your foundation to which you anchor around the rest of your life. Also I think that as one ages to some degree the comfort level for change becomes smaller and therefore one pulls back or isn’t pushing the envelope.

I don’t see the level of support for say a Paul that maybe you see. In 08 in his home state of Texas he received just over 4.8% of the primary vote. Now this is a Texan and well known politician that won just about every online straw poll conducted. Now that tells me that a small percentage of hard core, pushing the envelope types can impact something like a poll but when it comes down to finding the warm bodies at the polling place on election day pulling the lever they can’t be found in large numbers. Their idealism doesn’t translate into votes.

They do make waves and some of the waves stir up debate and that’s not all bad.

Take care.

A lot of us get pissed when Beck disses the birthers but from my own standpoint I need to get over expecting 100% from all my heroes.

In precious years, when Paulites were just as dedicated, he finished 4th or lower with 12% or less of the vote. The sudden surge, especially since the “Tea Party” folks don’t like him, is suspect.

CPAC’s David Keene is a Sarah Palin basher
He and most running CPAC are MittBots
They also had the fringe JBS as a sponsor.
Another good reason to stay away.

There was no purpose for Sarah to attend.
She has a list of other Republican organizations
she is speaking at.

Sigh. Everyone who ran in 2008 needs to get off the stage and let a whole new crew run in 2012.

Retreads need not apply.

Mike Pence for President?
Mitch Daniels?

Oh yeah. Their hero is already 74 or thereabout, right?
He’s a nuisance. He’s a Libertarian and the GOP should make him run as one. That way he wouldn’t be able to participate in the Republican debates.

We have to have a stong field, but right now we have to concentrate and dedicate ourselves to the elections in November. CPAC has been a distraction with its emphasis on the straw poll, although for those in attendance, I think they’ve been benefit of some excellent workshops. I am sick of hearing about Ron Paul.

Most CPACs are theory people not the experience in the real world people.

Reminds me of kids playing grownups
That won’t cut it for leadership
