Millions of Unemployed Face Years Without Jobs

BUENA PARK, Calif. — Even as the American economy shows tentative signs of a rebound, the human toll of the recession continues to mount, with millions of Americans remaining out of work, out of savings and nearing the end of their unemployment benefits.

Economists fear that the nascent recovery will leave more people behind than in past recessions, failing to create jobs in sufficient numbers to absorb the record-setting ranks of the long-term unemployed.

Call them the new poor: people long accustomed to the comforts of middle-class life who are now relying on public assistance for the first time in their lives — potentially for years to come.

Yet the social safety net is already showing severe strains. Roughly 2.7 million jobless people will lose their unemployment check before the end of April unless Congress approves the Obama administration’s proposal to extend the payments, according to the Labor Department.

Here in Southern California, Jean Eisen has been without work since she lost her job selling beauty salon equipment more than two years ago. In the several months she has endured with neither a paycheck nor an unemployment check, she has relied on local food banks for her groceries.

She has learned to live without the prescription medications she is supposed to take for high blood pressure and cholesterol. She has become effusively religious — an unexpected turn for this onetime standup comic with X-rated material — finding in Christianity her only form of health insurance.

“I pray for healing,” says Ms. Eisen, 57. “When you’ve got nothing, you’ve got to go with what you know.”

For those who are curious, the author’s name is Peter S. Goodman.

The DemocRATS need to make as many people as they can become dependent on BIG government. Until we can fumigate Congress and get the ‘RATS out of there, there will continue to be very high unemployment. Higher than “expected” too.

For the most part the media MSM has hidden the plight of the self-employed. Those whose small businesses are gone and collect NOTHING. No unemployment, 32 extra weeks of ZIP, NADA, $0.

I am so sure the Obama clan is purposely punishing us. No union dues paid by the self-employed. No govt work from the self employed. Their goal is to erase us from American history as they rewrite it into Amerikan History.

Yep.

Look up the term, “Hoover blanket” or Hoover House”

EXACTLY.

Would that we had a Calvin Coolidge instead of the second coming of Hoover (even though I live in his former hometown).

Open-borders, liberalism and Democrats destroyed California. Very sad.

I know fellow who is a financial commentator and devot Christian. He talks about how countries and civilizations that turned their back on religion and morality all eventually imploded. Sadly this is the path we are headed down.

“The DemocRATS need to make as many people as they can become dependent on BIG government.”

How many of these unemployed are going to be foolish enough to vote for the incumbent Democrats?

What about the jobs Americans don’t want to do.

There are jobs out there. They just pay a heck of a lot less than the jobs people were used to.

I can bet that the Dims will push for restoration of AFDC in this budget.

“The nation is being set up to adopt marxism!”

That’s one way of looking at it, I think instead they have awakened a sleeping giant — the American People.

What I'd like to know is how being religious and moral would create jobs and shrink the government. It would do wonders to end crime, stop abortions, and make for a more politie society... but that's all I can see.

I mean, Huckabee proves that you can be pro-religion and support big government at the same time. And big government is causing our economic mess right now.

There is no way God will continue to honor or bless a nation that elevates perversion, murder of the unborn and partial born, the elderly and infirm to a "right".

No way, and we delude ourselves in thinking that He will do so as we continue going down the same path without so much as a second thought.

OBAMAVILLE

Gett’n a head fake,
watchin’ msn’s take;
All of their pundits oozing foul oil.
Clean’n my six gun on my front porch swing.
Felling my blood—
It’s beginnin’ to boil.

Wasted away again in Obamaville,
Searchin’ for a job so I can earn my salt.
Some people claim that Bush is to blame,
But I know it’s Obama’s fault.

There’s no rhyme or reason,
They are all commitin’ treason
With nothing to show but a brand new tax or two.
But they are real beauties,
Despotic duties, how they got passed
I haven’t a clue.

Wasted away again in Obamaville,
Searchin’ for a job so I can earn my salt.
Some people claim that it’s Bush we should blame,
Now I think,— hell with them it’s Obama’s fault.

I blew out my flip flop,
Stepped on a pop top;
Cut my heel, but I just cruise on back home.
Because no medical care will the doctors render
They say there’s little service I can tender
And there’s no need for me to hang on.

Wasted away again in Obamaville
Searchin’ for a job so I can earn my salt.
Some people claim that Bush is to blame,
But I know, it’s my own damn fault.
Yes, and some people claim that Bush is to blame,
And I know because of my vote it’s my own damn fault.

They need to find their talent and offer their services to where there is demand. It won’t be easy, but many are awaiting on help from the POTUS. I think they will be sadly fooled.

We will see, but I think the giant may sleep all the way through Nov. 2 and forget that day entirely or be so confused as to not how to proceed. Some will even stick with familiar names like Specter.
