Mitt Romney Interviewed by Chris Wallace (A disaster?)
RightPundit ^ | Sunday March 7, 2010 | Arriba

I watched the Mitt Romney interview on Fox News Watch with Chris Wallace this morning. I actually watched twice, I was stunned. What a debacle! Apparently, this was his opening gambit in his 2012 Presidential campaign, since he has written a book. Wallace, by far the most skilled of the talking head interviewers, pressed Romney on his two primary claims: that Obama has spent his first year apologizing for being an American, and that his health care plan is awful.

Romney was unable to delineate any major differences between the plan he developed in Massachusetts and Obama’s, except that the latter is a national policy, whereas Romney’s just applied to one state. He claimed that insurance companies bear no responsibility for rising health care costs, and then said that when insurance companies act ‘badly’, actions should be taken against them, but couldn’t clarify what he meant. When he tried to say a difference was that the Massachusetts plan didn’t have a public option, Wallace nearly laughed out loud. I don’t know if Romney thought that Wallace would give him a free ride, since it was on Fox. If he did think that, he might have wanted to watch the show once in awhile or at least prepare.

I readily admit that he is the presumptive nominee. Wall Street adores him. My guess is that if he gets the nomination, it would be a debacle. Name one Bible Belt state that would support him – perhaps Mississippi. He will bring down a number of Republican House seats in this region. He didn’t say anything that I thought was believable in the last campaign. I had made a bet with a friend that if he and HRC won their respective nominations, we could set up lie detectors on both of them, and make a drinking game out of it. But that’s beside the point. Instead of just foisting another nominee upon the American public, it might be worth the party’s time to actually try to figure out who the voters would support. For his part Romney might try being honest, and see how Americans like actually knowing what he would do. But I sort of think he doesn’t even know what he believes any more.

The GOP establishment, and the media are ready to back Romney. Because of this, he has a fair shot at becoming the nominee in 2012.

My feeling on this is that he is being chosen specifically because he is easy to destroy. People who like socialized medicine will vote for the Democrat, not Romney -- so Romney's signature accomplishment buys him nothing. People who like homosexual marriage will vote for the Democrat, so Romney gains nothing here. And it's always easy to slime a Mormon and make people afraid of "weird" religions.

Romney is perfect -- if you want the GOP to crash and burn in the fall of 2012. That's precisely why he has so much support right now.

You have clearly beome “cheesed”, that makes you even less lucid than normal

As for the rules, here’s one you seem to have forgotten. Have more when needed.

“The Radical may resort to the sword but when he does he is not filled with hatred against those individuals whom he attacks. He hates these individuals not as persons but as symbols representing ideas or interests which he believes to be inimical to the welfare of the people.”

I will make you a deal, you don’t post to me and I won’t post to you, wanna shake. Geez, don’t have another meltdown.

Wallace pointed out MA has the most expensive insurance rates in the nation and Romney said Massachusetts would be even more expensive if they had not roped the young healthy people into the system with the individual mandate.

Ouch. We are so screwed candidate-wise. (Although currently my heart belongs to Marco Rubio.)

I think that is true of all conservatives. Any Conservative out there who still thinks Romney is on their side doesn't know Mitt...

"Cheesed"? What a silly nutcase you prove to be, Mr. Peter Horry
as you attack FReepers and posters with a broad brush.

Your quote was never read before by me, but it sounds
viciously like you and Mitt Romney, does it not?

Is that why you brought it up?

Know this, newbie, the ONLY ones ever bringing up HATE
on FR are Mitt Romney and his band of thuggees, assassins,
and ad hominem throwers, like yourself.

That put her in a “supermajority” on the issue, but I’m not sure that made her position the right one. I also got very sick of hearing them say this was a bad bill but they had no choice. Would like to see this hashed in the campaign, but that’s probably too much to hope for.

I may be getting into “tin foil” territory here but I think this was a manufactured crisis (though it created definite dangers) which achieved precisely the hoped for results.
God, it disturbs me to think the Democrats are actually that smart.

I also believe McCain’s weak and undeceive response to the hurricane threat, as well as the financial crisis cost him the election. As Rush has pointed out, we HAVE to do a better job of selecting our leaders.

She supported the bailouts and TARP because she was under McCain campaign, just like Cheney had to support Bush’s anti-gay marriage although he personally supported gay marriage because of his gay daughter.

Has Palin actually said this? Or is it just an assumption?

“I like that image: a POTUS that carries a copy of the Constitution with them at all times, and whips it out anytime anybody asks a question and says, “Gee, let me just check the rulebook here.””

Might be a good “visual” but I had much rather have someone who holds the CONVICTIONS of the Founding Fathers.

Peter Horry: "I also believe McCain’s weak and undeceive response to the hurricane threat,
as well as the financial crisis cost him the election."

What hurricane threat? The only "storm" was from Team Romney, was it not? (.....sound of crickets.....)

As Mr. Romney's MOST erudite defender, do you have anything
to say about what really happened? (.....sound of crickets.....)

The McCain/Palin ticket was up ++8 to 10 pts. in some polls, days prior to the election.

"Frum was indeed a critic of Palin, calling her nomination a "huge mistake" during an October 13 (2008, weeks before the election) Early Show appearance."

David Frum: "Two of our most plausible candidates for president in 2012 are leading Mormons: Mitt Romney and Utah governor Jon Huntsman."

David Frum: "I have a lot of regard for Mitt Romney as a man and politician… I will support him without qualm."

Late in October, The American Spectator's The Prowler revealed:
"Former Mitt Romney presidential campaign staffers…
have been involved in spreading anti-Palin spin to reporters, seeking to diminish her standing after the election.
'Sarah Palin is a lightweight, she won't be the first, not even the third, person people will think of when it comes to 2012,'
says one former Romney aide…
'The only serious candidate ready to challenge to lead the Republican Party is Mitt Romney.
"Some former Romney aides were behind the recent leaks to media, including CNN, that Governor Sarah Palin was a 'diva' and was going off message intentionally."

The Palmetto Scoop reported: "One of the first stories to hit the national airwaves was
the claim of a major internal strife between close McCain aides and the folks handling his running mate Sarah Palin."
"I’m told by very good sources that this was indeed the case and that a rift had developed, but it was between Palin’s people and the staffers brought on from the failed presidential campaign of former Gov. Mitt Romney, not McCain aides."
"The sources said nearly 80 percent of Romney’s former staff was absorbed by McCain and these individuals were responsible for what amounts to a premeditated, last-minute sabotage of Palin."
… aides loyal to Romney inside the McCain campaign, said The Scoop, reportedly saw
that Palin would be a serious contender for the Republican nomination in 2012 or 2016, which made her a threat to another presidential quest by Romney.

Erick Erickson, who organized Operation Leper, said:
"These staffers are now out trying to finish her off ….hoping it would ingratiate themselves with Mitt Romney."

"Who's the Palin Leaker from the McCain Campaign?
National Review Online The publication of a Vanity Fair profile of Sarah Palin
appears to have opened old wounds in the McCain campaign.
... the source of the “Diva” leak was Nicolle Wallace’s husband."

(.....sound of crickets.....)

Who benefits most from Sanford meltdown? Californian (that's right) Mitt Romney

"Peeking Out From the McCain Wreckage: Mitt Romney"

"Someone's got to say it: IS MITT ROMNEY RESPONSIBLE FOR OBAMA'S VICTORY?"

"Vanity: Team Romney Sabotaged Palin and Continuing to Do So?"

"Romney Supporters Trashing Palin"

"Romney advisors sniping at Palin?"

Guess that means no deal, huh. I am quite willing to let this continue until “the powers that be” act to stop it (even if I am the casualty) or it plays out to a conclusion. Like I have already pointed out, if you actually had any concern for this site or those who post/frequent it you would not engage in such childish and destructive behavior.... and that goes for your little friends you depend on to support you.

“What hurricane threat? The only “storm” was from Team Romney, was it not? “

Well, actually, if you were as informed as you purport to be you would remember that there was a hurricane treat at the start of the Republican Convention and there was much indecision about how to proceed. You DO remember that, don’t you?

Oh, wait, was that another infantile attempt to use my words against me? LOL Keep going youse doing fine.

By the way how long have you had this problem with crickets.

I really don’t blame her too much for supporting Jack Ripper McCain since he was responsible for putting her in the limelight. I do blame her, however, for her almost slavish support of her advisor Billy Kristol’s dangerous foreign policy agenda.

LOL, now you are having delusions of being Rush Limbaugh and claiming First Amendment rights on this site. Thought you were one of the one that claimed (correctly) that First Amendment rights didn’t pertain to this site.

Will let you rest now, and reclaim control of your mental faculties. You could start by listlening to Rush and reminding yourself I am not him, I am not him, I am not him.

Sorry all I have time for now, things to do.

Give me a list of 10...that you think have what it takes to be POTUS.

I'll give you mine.

In no particular order..

1. Tom Coburn

2. Allen West

3. Paul Ryan

4. Thaddeus McCotter

5. Duncan Hunter

6. Thomas Sowell

7. Liz Cheney

8. Steve Forbes

9. A very, very smart and fair minded doctor friend of mine...( Who shall remain unnamed...)

10. Congressman Billybob

Notice...these are all outsiders to the mainstream.

Frankly I'm sick of having a Dole or a McCain foisted on us....I'd take any of the above...before the people being brought up now...by the likes of the GOP.

IF...some no-name TOTUS reading MARXIST/COMMIE can get elected to POTUS...then some outside the box....person ought to be able to also.

Of course...who in their right mind would want the FULL FORCE of the LEFT in this country....lying about their family and them night and day?

FRegards,

I don't care too much anymore about what people say. I care about what they do.

Then you ought to read Sarah Palin's book. It's a complete record of everything she's accomplished in her life. You'll be impressed.
