The Healthcare Bill Would Be Obama’s ‘Enabling Act’
BigGovernment.com ^ | March 13, 2010 | Michael Zak

Why are Barack Obama and other Democrat leaders so intent on passing a government takeover of healthcare now…Now…NOW?

They must know that costs will rise and the quality of care will fall, right? They must know that Obamacare would destroy the economy, right? Of course they do. But, they also know that the federal government would tighten its grip on the nation. They know that Obama’s czars and other appointees would be authorized to bypass Congress in enacting sweeping regulations on nearly every aspect of a person’s life. And, they know that these new powers of the federal government would be concentrated in the hands of the Democratic Party and the President.

Here’s what else they know. History affords many examples of regimes whose motto was “Never let a crisis go to waste.” In 1933, having campaigned for “hope” and “change,” the National Socialist Worker’s Party forced through the German parliament a Law to Remedy the Distress of the People and the Nation, also known as the Enabling Act.

This new law enabled the German chancellor and his appointees to bypass parliament in imposing sweeping regulations on the people:

“My mother in law’s hearing aid cost the MEDICARE program $3,000. It got chewed up by a dog, and was ‘easily’ replaced for another $3,000. I wondeded how on the REAL Market they can sell a LAPTOP, with memory cards, wireless connections, hard drive, mother board..for $699 NEW, which has a lot MORE technology, and that small piece of plastic with a little microphone and speaker costs $3,000. When the gov’t BUYS, it causes the whole market system tends to break down. We get LESS for our money, and it costs EVERYONE more. Doctors would like to HEAL and do procedure, but their days are spent filling our reports, doing meaningless, endless trivial requirements.”

WORTH REPEATING FOR ANY WHO MISSED THIS!

One of the first things such an enabling act would allow the enabled to go after would be the second amendment. The claim would be that owning firearms was “unhealthy”...

Someone I know bought a $13 hearing aid at Harbor Freight Tools. It might not be the best but it meets his needs.

How much better could a $3000 hearing aid be??

Well this AM the NO count stands at 211 with a shocking +70 undecided. Now a full 1/2 of the those undecideds are a head fake by Pelosi but she would have to get 80% of the remaining true 30+ undecided votes, not going to happen. I am more positive this AM then I have been a while that ObamaCare is going down and Obama is going to take a humiliating defeat.

I'm glad that people are starting to truly understand what this bill is all about. That being Control. It's nothing more than trillions of dollars in false promises and an abrogation of our most basic liberties.

Oldie but goodie from 2004 - don’t remember MSM reporting on this - but advertising revenue is always a consideration.

http://www.dallasobserver.com/2004-02-19/news/wheeler-dealers/
In the mid- to late ‘90s, technological advancements made power wheelchairs usable in the home, as required by Medicare to qualify for the reimbursement. That plus the aging population contributed to a 450 percent increase in spending on wheelchairs over the past four years. Reimbursements in Texas jumped from $34.7 million in 1999 to more than $170 million in the first nine months of 2003. But a huge portion of that increase was outright fraud, federal officials claim.

Medicare spending for power wheelchairs and power scooters has skyrocketed in recent years to more than $1.2 billion a year................

Between insane overcharging, and outright fraud, 40% is wasted.

Under various sections of the “Health Care Bill” voting is declared “unhealthy” and upon Obama’s signature, will no longer be allowed. Groups of over 6 adults(with the exception of Washington, DC), which could spread “contagious diseases”, are also not allowed. Firearms are banned as citizens are not allowed to form their own “Death Panels”. Religion is banned as “an opiate of the masses”, since “opiates” are illegal.

Why are Barack Obama and other Democrat leaders so intent on passing a government takeover of healthcare now…Now…NOW?

Because without justification for the additional income confiscation, the government collapses at the current rate of spending. Even they realize they cannot print enough money to buy their way out of the mess they've created. They hoped to make it past 2012, but they see the end of the road much sooner.

As Thomas Jefferson is cited as having said: “The Second Amendment is for when they try to take it away.”

All I know is this: the costs for health care will rage out of control and be borne by the taxpayers. RomneyCare proves that.

If the government makes it so that health insurance costs are borne by families directly, without employers being involved at all, the people of this country will be shocked and appalled by the price, and many will not be able to afford it.
