Today's "lesson" on the Christian Faith and its impact on our history - begins with a quotation from Obama to the effect that America owes much to Islam.
William Federer goes through the History of how Islam has indeed impacted our nation....perhaps not in the context that Obama tried to suggest.
Educational but also part of "extended news" since it is all about the history and impact of the Islamic religion/world and its interaction with the world, with Christians and with our nation down through the years.

I do know that our forefathers thought much more clearly that we do about the world as it is.

Christopher Columbus - wrote to Ferdinand and Isabella - to send him to the people of India in order to undertake their conversion to their Holy Christian faith.
Your Highnesses ordained that I should not go by land, but by the route of the Occident (to the West) by which no one knows for sure the way this will go.
Muslims cut off the land routes to the Orient...ergo Columbus wanted to go to the Orient by a sea route!
Islam is the reason that Columbus set sail - and of course the rest is...history.
The Muslims had conquered Constantinople and the trade routes to the East, mandating the search for the Orient from the sea routes to the West - leading to Columbus discovering “America”.
Quite true. But that clear eyed thinking is coming back into vogue!
Now talking about Vlad the Third from Romania who fought against the Muslim warriors going up through that part of Europe - and Vlad impaled a third of them - to “out terrorize” the Muslim horde - and he succeeded in stopping the Islamic invasion into Europe - allowing Europe to continue to develop as the Christian center which led to so much in terms of the arts, government, and Christian faith.
(Vlad had evidently been imprisoned by Muslims where he saw them Impale their enemies....which led to his determination to “out-terrorize” them by impaling THEIR warriors).
Vlad was a member of the order of St. George of the Dragon Slayer.
He was the King of Romania.
The Romanian pronunciation of dragon was “Dracula”.
He did not drink blood.
He was a hero of Romania - because the Muslims were demanding the Romanians to give up 500 boys to them to train to fight against Europe!
Western Europe was able to develop because Eastern Europe was fighting these battles to stop the Islamic invasion from that side.

As we learn the past, it helps us to understand the present.
