Obamacare Rips Doctor-Patient Relationship Apart

By C.L. Gray, M.D. - FOXNews.com

Unless this legislation is repealed and replaced with fiscally responsible, patient-centered policy, the relationship between patients and their physicians will never be the same.

Ensnared by mountains of detail and overwhelmed by months of endless rhetoric, America never fully understood the profound historical context of the current health care debate. The untold story is that on Tuesday, with the stroke of a pen, President Obama ushered America into an age of post-Hippocratic medicine. Unless this legislation is repealed and replaced with fiscally responsible, patient-centered policy, the relationship between patients and their physicians will never be the same.

With disturbing consistency, the sweep of history reveals that physicians have served one of only two possible roles in society—there is no third alternative. Physicians either follow Hippocrates, remaining free to serve the well-being of the individual patient, or they follow Plato and become servants of the State, compelled to guard the “greater good” of society. This is the battle of our time.

Government compassion sounds so noble, but we cannot escape the fact that whoever pays holds the power to choose. It is here that Washington’s utopian plan falls short. When Washington gains control over the American health care dollar, physicians become employees of the State. When the “collective good” trumps the well-being of the individual patient, the physician’ loyalties become divided.

“When Washington gains control over the American health care dollar, physicians become employees of the State”...physicians will be employed at new salary cap valuations. Connecting a few dots results with this not unthinkable scenario:

Individual slaves had and have in todays’world-wide black-market slave markets an assigned market value. Dems believvable can think “Why not assign work values salary caps based on job descriptions to all employees also? After-all, self-employment should be destroyed”...as it is being for solo MDs now. All of the rest of us will follow that model. Labor unions, so valued in marxist systems are so valued by this administration and stand ready as regualtors of such a labor commoditized market. Salary caps are the same function as slave commodity market valuations, and, in our society will be a way of commoditizing all human labor value. Such labor can be securitized too, just like prime and subprime mortgages. Will Gore, Obama and allies form a Chicago Labor Securitization Exchange also? It is possible that a national labor market using securitizations for trading purposes can be established following the model of the Obama, et al, founded, Chicago Carbon Futures Exchange? Imagine, your labor value assumed and regulated and traded on a world-wide basis, just as mortgages!!! You will not know who owns your contract!! Healthcare will be accorded to your worth and longevity in the workFARCE. Expect nothing on your discharge from the workFARCE.

THe middle class is being relieved of its property quickly thru Fannie and Freddie and the Fed Reserve, China now has US eminent domain rights, and the middle class? They (us) are going to be commoditized after their wealth is removed.Just thinking.

It seems ironic that Obamacare purports to put (or keep) people on PRIVATE plans, but establishes the rationing/death panels at the GOVERNMENT level.

“In short, if doctors spend more money on patient care than their peers, the Secretary of Health and Human Services will punish them financially.”

Excellent article. And it’s very true — the “greater good” will trump the needs of individuals, so if you have some disease, that is too costly to treat, just go and buy your casket now.

Medicare already did this, but now it’s not just the geezers’ docs that are getting the “stay out of the upper 5% per patient” shaft.

Let me guess.

The only doctor-patient relationship which will remain the same will be when an abortion takes place.

Since abortion is the sacrament of the left and Roe V. Wade has strict regard for privacy between a woman and her doctor, it only stands to reason that a woman getting an abortion will still be afforded that private special relationship with her doctor.

So, something that is not really healthcare will allow SOME people the benefit of a doctor-patient relationship.

Uh huh.

Probably because until the golden goose dies, they can expect far more ridiculous regulations from "private" firms that they reimburse at their leisure than they can from government employees. Most government employees I know have it far easier than those in private employment or individual entrepreneurs.

Somehow I don’t get a cheery sense that the gummit is going to be as generous now.

Well that is a bit more than “just thinking” wouldn’t you say? I think many are in a state of shock and unbelief at all the possibilities that could be with these changes in our nation...and the sense individually we cannot stop this until we vote...it’s watching and realizing the whole arena which is so maddening.

Healthcare opened the floodgates, November is very far away in regard to the speed and number of changes with which this administration is bombarding the nation with.

Eminent domain given to China as an incentive to continue buying T bills and agency bonds, bodes very ill if the US defaults on its debt, a possibility not unthinkable now, as each dollar borrowed “produces” a NEGATIVE GDP of $.45!! Default may be only two years away. Interpol has been given complete power to operate in the US by the Obama administration exclusive of the US govt. If China has eminent domain rights and we default on our debt, can they sent troops with immunity to protect their equities? Do not depend on the Obama administration to deny them such rights, if they have not been given already.

I think it will last until the golden goose of private insurance dies off. Gotta make people *think* that working for the gubmint isn't going to be so bad.
