Irony is this statement from the Surgeon General herself!
“Americans will be more likely to change their behavior if they have a meaningful reward—something more than just reaching a certain weight or dress size. The real reward is invigorating, energizing, joyous health. It is a level of health that allows people to embrace each day and live their lives to the fullest without disease or disability.

How can they (the Obamabots & their socialist ilk) say the bad news on job creation was unexpected. Look, it is quite simple. Get it through your thick skulls, Democrats and Liberals. No government creates jobs, period. Only the “private sector” creates meaningful, sustainable jobs. Everything Obama and his finance idiots have done have not created one lasting job. And.....the media, I am sick of them. All I see and hear from the media is the economy is in recovery, jobs will be forthcoming, blah, blah, blah. Yet no jobs. This moron, POTUS Barack Hussein Obama has been in office almost seventeen months, and he has created zero jobs. Until there is meaningful spending cuts in government services and substantial tax relief for small business, the job market will remain gloomy. And....all you brillant folks out there that think “Obamacare” is going to create jobs must be smoking funny stuff or drinking far too much Kool-Aid. Not only will the economy lose healthcare jobs, but healthcare will get worse and worse as time goes by. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, elections do matter. And....that includes you fools on the bottom of the economic totem pole that voted for this buffoon Obama. It is you and your families that are going to suffer at the hands of the failed POTUS Obama. Wise up, American people!!!
Richard Trumka of the AFL-CIO makes at LEAST $240,000.00 a year!!! And he is RAILING against big money!!! What a HYPOCRITE!!
Well, I grew up in Maine, which is said to have a climate much like Russia. I could buy the "70 years of bad weather" story. It sure seemed like it to me, some winters. :-)
But you're right. I think that the question that needs to be asked here is, "When do people (not FReepers, the American public) stop believing what they're told and start believing what they see?"
That's the point that it gets ugly, IMHO.
everyone drink!
Well said.
The unexpected kookballs think Afroeconomics should bring on millions og green jobs. What Morons.
Bush also, don't forget this is all George W Bush's fault.
But always a great 5 year plan. We will soon be camping at grocery stores awaiting the next shipment of food.
I didn’t say everyone on unemployment wasn’t actively looking for work. But there’s no doubt that many who are would be at least somewhat less inclined to aggressively seek work.
And not ONE person has called her on that!!!
So typical, yet GWB is still getting called on the Mission Accomplished quote. BTW, I personally took the quote to mean that those on the ship accomplished their mission, not the whole military.
Well, excuse me! I unexptedly farted on the elevator and it was unexpectedly smelly! I expected to get off of the elevator on the next floor, but it unexpectedly stopped! As expected, everyone’s eyes were watering and the unexpected coughing attacks, startled me!
This is all creating a climate of fundamental distrust. I don't think a society can function like that. Again, the USSR is a classic example.
Going even further, for those of us who see civil unrest coming to this country, there is the classic question: Will the US military fire on US citizens? Again, we have the issue of mistrust -- will soldiers follow orders? Will politicians trust soldiers will follow orders? And does the president need a private army to ensure that his orders are carried out?
These are deep and disturbing questions to even ask. We are a broken country.
How could I have forgotten Bush. They were laid off because the economy has a Bush hangover.
I agree. That banner was the ship's banner. I forget which carrier it was (the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower, I think), but it had been out to see for many months. The sailors and marines on board HAD completed their mission. It was clear that the war had a long way to go. The left-wing media spun that whole thing into something that it was never intended to be.
DRINK!
(not reading the article...read it a hundred times before, including the assurance that the "recovery" is "well underway".)
Figure that any action won't be taken by Brock O'Bama himself, or the Fed as an entity. It'll be the FBI agent at the satellite office in your local county seat that gets the orders to come and look you up. And, he may not follow the orders. Or the orders may not percolate down to his level. Or if they do, he may find "other things" to pursue.
I may be a Pollyanna here, but I think that - in general, with some exceptions - the agent that tackles Child Molesters or Drug Trafficers with a completely clean conscience....might have more of a problem arresting his next-door neighbor for "crimes" like not purchasing health insurance or exercising the very same rights that the agent agrees with.
No, what worries me is if BO brings in others for enforcement. Think Chinese. (Currently) Illegals. "Disadvantaged Inner City youth" from cities on the other side of the continent. Etc.
People who don't know you, don't need to live in your neighborhood, who have no ties there. No vested interest in standing with you.
*That* is what worries me. Lots of tinfoil hat stuff here on FR, but the drumbeat is getting louder. I'm currently hoping for the best and preparing for the worst.
/rant off. Thanks for listening.
