A question for birthers: why Mombassa?
Vanity | Me

Posted on 05/12/2010 8:47:16 AM PDT by curiosity

The origin of modern myths and legends is a side interest of mine, the birther myths among them.

Now I understand why Obama being born in Kenya made it into your belief system, despite it being physically impluasible (requiring around 5 days and five flights, most on propeller planes) and financially impossible (it would have cost about a year of her parents' combined salaries) for Stanley Ann & Obama Sr. to travel there for her to give birth. After all, Obama's Father was from Kenya, so if you are going to make up a myth about Obama being born abroad, what better place than Kenya?

Implausibilty, and even impossiblilty doesn't deter the making of myths if there is a strong emotional reason to believe them, as in this case.

What I don't understand is, of all possible places in Kenya, why make Mombassa the birthplace in your myth? If you look at the map of Kenya, it's on the other end of the country from Obama Sr.'s village, 762 miles away, which would make it a minimum 2 day train ride. Probably longer, since Kenyan trains were very fast in 1961.

I suppose you could argue that there were no hospitals in Obama's village, so they had to travel to a major city. But Nairobi was closer, and more modern.

So why Mombassa? Not only is it completely implausible; I don't see the emotional appeal. Why Mombasssa rather than his father's village? Or why Mombassa rather than Nairobi?

Help me out here, birthers. Why do you reserve this special place for Mombassa in your belief system?

Thank you rolling stone

Seems everyone that is trying to debunk anything stated in this thread keeps rolling over legitimate concerns as if they don’t exist!

I’m at a point were it really doesn’t matter what they think or say since their only purpose is to stir the pot and also not provide any facts to back up their statements.

Interesting that the only school record we have ever seen names him as Barry Soetoro, calls him Indonesian and says his religion is Muslim. If I were him I would want some other ones out there.

The birther nonsense makes us look like nuts.

This is the last line on your FR AboutPage as of May 12, 2010.

Why do you repeat the mantra/obfuscation of the left? The eligibility issue is so simple and clear cut that even hardened left-wingers are able to understand it. They have all been asked for their birth-certificates at one time or another. Those that have passports all have all their expired passports and can put their hands on them in short order. My mother, who has Obama magnets on her refrigerator, looked down at her toes as she answered me when I asked her if she still had all of her old passports. Instead you think it would be a good idea to engage people like my mother on matters about what might happen in the future if more and more socialism is adopted. But she won't believe you. She's in her late 80s. She knows where her birth certificate is. And she probably could never imagine why anyone would hide anything on it except maybe their date of birth.

Who would foot the bill, the equivalent of one year's average Hawaiian's salary, to go back while they are STUDENTS? A furniture salesmen (Stanely's father)? A bank teller (her mother)? Barack's relatives, tribal Africans show live in grass huts?

How about the Kenyan Government that sent him there in the first place?

The state of Hawaii says he was born in Hawaii.

The state of Hawaii said nothing of the sort.

That's good enough for me, as well as any court and any Federal agency.

So then, nothing of the sort is good enough for you???

Let those in the Hawaiian government who have something to say, say it under oath in a court of law under penalty of perjury, corroborated by the full birth records from their vaults, and we will hear what song they sing then.

Why does it not satistfy you?

the same reason that crap sandwiches don't.

Why is his place of employment relevant? I brought up his daughters simply to show that women did choose to give birth at the facility.

So if Dr Nordyke worked at Queens iit would not be relevant that his wife gave birht at Kapi'olani? Good Lord what drugs are you on?

...And is it strange that Mrs. Nordyke doesn't recall Stanley Ann or little Obie the mixed baby while they supposedly were in the little clinic at the same time?...

LOL. I take it you've never coached a woman through labor. I have. Let me provide you with an insigh: it's pretty overwhelming and doesn't leave the woman or her husband with much time for socializing.

LOL you have no idea how close I have been to many women giving birth. As for socializing women usually didn't just check in, give birth and go home in 1961,(what was the average length of stay in hospital for new mothers?) and then their is the newborn nursery where the babies are out in open view of everyone.

As to mixed race babies, this is Hawaii we're talking about.

Yes and how many black babies were born in Hawaii in 1961 and how many black people lived in Hawaii?

Who foot the bill for 0bama’s trips to Pakistan while he was in college? His mother that was on welfare?

Get real.

Better yet. Where did he get the money for college? He had no student loans to repay, yet went to some very expensive schools.

I guess words from others suffice for you. Is it okay with you then if all the illegal aliens simply say "I was born in McAllen, TX? Is it okay when one applies for a job to put up a document on the web and say "there it is"? You don't think demanding proof, that the so called abstract, is genuine? They cannot be use for a passport except as the basis for the State Department to ask for more information and a birth certificate. That is what will happen when someone uses a COLB. The state department will say "we don't have enough information to comnplete your request for a passport".'

STEP 2: Submit Evidence of U.S. Citizenship

When applying for a U.S. passport in person, evidence of U.S. citizenship must be submitted with Form DS-11. All documentation submitted as citizenship evidence will be returned to you. These documents will be delivered with your newly issued U.S. passport or in a separate mailing.

Primary Evidence of U.S. Citizenship (One of the following):

Previously issued, undamaged U.S. Passport

Certified birth certificate issued by the city, county or state*

Consular Report of Birth Abroad or Certification of Birth
 Naturalization Certificate
 Certificate of Citizenship

*A certified birth certificate has a registrar's raised, embossed, impressed or multicolored seal, registrar's signature, and the date the certificate was filed with the registrar's office, which must be within 1 year of your birth. Please note, some short (abstract) versions of birth certificates may not be acceptable for passport purposes.

NOTE: If you do not have primary evidence of U.S. citizenship or your U.S. birth certificate does not meet the requirements, please see Secondary Evidence of U.S. Citizenship.

  1. Where in there do you find a way to submit an abstract known as a COLB and it would be sufficient on its own?
  2. Does it not make sense to you that Barry proferred a fraudulent document and he knows it, since he provided one for college, to obtain his original passport and then found one among his mother's belongings upon her death.
  3. Why would he not just slap up one of those?  Why?

For what it's worth:

Obama’s own wife recently referred to Kenya as his country of birth, his grandmother says so as well.

No. Obama's wife referred to Kenya as his "home country," plausibly meaning the "land of his ancestors." I have had a fellow American of Lithuanian ancestry call me a "landsman," so I don't find it hard to believe that's what she meant. And his grandmother, who was being asked leading questions through an interpreter, immediately corrected herself in the interview that idea was taken from.

Two hospitals in Hawaii orginally claimed that status, adding to the confusion.

No. That story got started because a newspaper reporter got the name of the hospital wrong. The hospitals themselves never made that mistake.

He’s spent over a million dollars covering up his background.

No. All we know is that he's paid a law firm over a million dollars for campaign and post-campaign expenses. There's no evidence that any of it went to cover up his background.

Regardless of the validity of the NBC question as a whole, I hate to see the same errors introduced into these discussions over and over. (Don't feel bad--someone else will repeat them in the next thread, I'm sure.)

Bwahahahaha, so any document issued by the territory is now null and void since the territory became a state? ... Your spin cycle is growing with every post. But then you want to believe anything it takes to continue your worship of the affirmative action liar-in-chief. Yeah, you’re really just conducting research for your ‘specialty’ ...

You got that wrong!

the country in which a person was born and usually raised, regardless of the present country of residence and citizenship

Stanley Ann AND her mother didn’t have a motive? Like illegals have no motive for crossing the border as illegals ... your spinning is growing to dizzying speeds, obamanoid!

Too funny when you see people like this. They can’t rebutt the information. It is irrefutable and they know it.

Most of us have the good sense to shut up, listen, and learn, when we're out of our depth. Occasionally, you run into those who are not.

Kapi’olani Hospital wasn’t built until the ‘70s and opened sometime in the mid ‘70s, while I was attending the UH at Manoa.

OUTSTANDING POST OF THE DAY!!!!!!!!! Thanks for that info - I had not seen that before!!
