House Votes to Repeal Military Gay Ban
Fox News ^ | 5/27/2010

The House has voted to repeal the 1993 law known as "don't ask, don't tell" and allow gays to serve openly in the military.

The House vote Thursday came several hours after the Senate Armed Services Committee took the same course and approved a measure repealing the policy that prohibits service by gays who openly acknowledge their sexual orientation.

The committee voted 16-12 to repeal the 1993 law known as "don't ask, don't tell." Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine, was the only Republican to vote in favor of repeal while Sen. Jim Webb, D-Va., was the only Democrat to vote against the initiative that was attached to a $760 billion defense spending bill.

The House was a victory for President Barack Obama, who has pushed for a change in military policy, and for gay rights group who have made an end to "don't ask, don't tell" their top legislative priority.

Republicans voted overwhelmingly against lifting the ban, saying Congress should wait until the Pentagon completes a review of the impact of a repeal on military life and readiness.

Thanks pissant, the author wrote it both ways. On purpose no doubt.

Concur, you have a bunch of fudge packing carpet licking liberals who want to change the military into what they believe society should be, they are wrong on both parts.

The whole lesbo, queer thing is a chosen lifestyle and these people are sick & demented.

I’m hoping 2012 comes soon and we can change these asinine ideas to American reality.

The Senate is going to be a tougher hurdle and I think it just might be stopped. So far only one Republican in the Senate has signed on and there are several Democrats who will not vote to Repeal. Webb and Pryor are definite nays. So we will have enough to filibuster this bill and McCain has promised to. I was impressed and disappointed. Ron Paul voted for this repeal. Djou I knew where he stood but I figured he’d show at least the respect for the top military brass. There was no reason for him to vote for this now and Cao is a continued disappointment. This is the kind of vote that loses these guys more than it gains. Even Mark Kirk and Mary Bono understood that. There is no reason to shove this through now. The homosexual vote isn’t going to win any races. All I can say is I tried and where were our wonderful cowardly talk radio show hosts? Talking about the same old oil spill and the Sestack kickback. If we don’t have voices to oppose the irrational ugly homosexual agenda then what in the hell are they doing for us? If we can’t defeat a bunch of screw balls who pick up dates in bathroom stalls and are responsible for a disproportionate number of sexual assaults then how in the hell are we going to defeat the Democrats and liberals on anything?

The military will survive but it will be forever changed and these activists will push even harder. They’ll use phony anti-discrimination policy as a way to suppress and elevate themselves in the ranks and the media will support them. This is almost as bad as prop 8, California got prop 8 but then the legislature passed legislation disregarding it and forced pro-homosexual programs into schools throughout the state. Really we have to re-evaluate our tactics because we can’t wait till we’ve lost ground. We need something like the homosexuals version of the HRC with dedicated staff to consistently raise money to combat sexual liberalism of all forms.

I heard a retired general discuss this, and if it goes through, we’re in for a world of troubles. First off, it is considered a basic human right, even in the military, that you cannot be forced to live with, or shower or share facilities with the opposite sex. The reason is, of course, no one wants to be vulnerable to persons who see you as sexually desirable.

Therefore, when/if homosexuals are allowed to openly serve, they will have to be given special quarters—as the rest of the men or women will not want to be sleeping or showering with them.

Certainly a few bad apples will show up too, and homosexual rape and other nastiness will now become commonplace. No one will be able to be discharged for perverse sexual practices....as perversity will now be defined as “normal.”

I can tell you the USA is fast becoming a place I really do not want my children to fight and die for...

I think that’s one of the biggest dangers too. Conservatives of all stripes contribute more recruits to the military than any other group. If it becomes an unfriendly place for conservatives....as it increasingly seems to be....and the USA becomes increasingly unconstitutional, conservatives will cease sending our young people to military service. Where will we find people for our military then? San Francisco???

Exactly, the US Military was powerful enough that the Euros turned their military into social clubs and also lost the will to fight.

Ditto the IDF, now the Obamao wishes to have the US join into their fool heartiness..and of course the pliant Congress agrees.

If I were in the service, I would DEMAND a discharge NOW (and not the kind my “fellow” soldiers are thinking of). Dishonorable? Fine. It would be far more dishonorable to me to serve in an openly gay Military. My pride is gone and that’s exactly Obama’s intent. To kill pride and nationalism (what was left of it) and he’s succeeding.

The whole idea of open promotion of homosexual desires in the military sounds like a disaster to me.

Tell some of these feminists they must shower and sleep with men and yet not misbehave. Idiotic.

What really bothers me is polls that show the younger public approves of this

Well, well, Ron Paul voted in FAVOR.

He stinks at military-related votes.

Am I reading this right? My new representative, Critz, the murtha clone, voted no?

I am shocked and surprised.

Aside from that this decision, if passed, will be a disaster. I see very dark days ahead for America.

I don't know if I'd call it a "basic human right" but it certainly ranks up there with proper decorum and modesty.

I'm sure just about everyone who has served has known, or known of, at least one homosexual in their unit. "Don't ask, don't tell", and the blanket forbidden policy before it, actually worked well because the nightmare scenario of all of this will be barracks assignments. Which wasn't really worried about before as you really didn't know who was gay. Well, officially at least :)

You can't really have a male, female and queer in separate barracks but then if you don't that means bunking gays and lesbians with straights. And THAT will never work out.

Plus, if they want to bunk queers and straights together then they must also bunk straight men and women together. And let's see how well THAT works out.

Duty . . Honor . . Country. Obama a week ago was the speaker this year’s graduating class at West Point.

Today he and his political party moved, with minimum of public notice, to do an end-run around, and even cancel out, an agreed-on study by the U. S. military on if and how DADT should be changed.

This is an extraordinary denigration of the U. S. military.

What this means is that now you’ll have gays running around base participating in activity that would get any hetersexual kicked out - and there’s nothing that anyone can do about it, because they’re a protected group.

It makes me shudder to think of queers pulling Alerts 60 feet underground in the Minuteman capsules.

Some fag assaults another Officer down there and not only can he NOT leave due to the Two-Officer Policy but he is locked behind an eight ton blast door.

With political correctness the fag would win in a Courts Martial and if the fag was the Crew Commander the poor assaulted Deputy would get time in the Brig.

The myth of the gay and woman ban in the military.

MARK MY WORDS: this is about banning men, heterosexuals, birth, life and a strong military, this is about our national security getting trashed.

Too bad America, you have been had and you are stupid to let your real estate be taken over.

While we are at it, why not build all over the 911 site a mosque with a minaret in the shape of a penis through an a$$ hole, and that of Obama’s.
