A sudden new twist in the ongoing rhetorical and legal struggle over Arizona's tough new law to round up illegal immigrants.

Late Friday night as the Memorial Day weekend began, Arizona's Republican Gov. Jan Brewer, in effect, suspended the state's Democratic attorney general from defending the new law in upcoming legal challenges.

Because, with notable exceptions, the planted leftist rinos are more likely to be men because the progressives are sexist. They only raise up easily influenced, malleable women.

He hasn’t got a prayer, I know, but his TV ads are keeping Brewer honest. He’s throwing his $$$ away if he thinks he can beat her, but he’d have a fighting chance if Brewer hadn’t signed the laws we wanted.

I’d say Martin but even has skeletons. Martin while state senator voted in favor of three of Napolitano’s budgets all the while saying that Brewer is spending too much money.

Martin has a personal story that’s hard to beat. Loss of his wife during childbirth and subsequent loss of the baby is tragic. But it’s not enough to be Governor.

Buz Mills’ TV buys are impressive, even though he hasn’t a prayer. We should all go and buy gun classes from him when this is over.

I was surprised Martin gave up another term as Treas to run. Martin could have had another term and then run for Gov.

Did you know there are five on the Rep side running for Gov?

Yes. There are a lot, which should tell you a lot about her vulnerability. THAT’S why she’s being really good right now. I fear for what happens after August.

She’s a politician first, and would throw us under the bus in a nanosecond if she thought she could get away with it.

Instead of jacking your jaws why don't you post some examples?

I should add, that’s one of two reasons I heaved a great sigh of relief when the legislative session closed when it did. The other is, July 29 is when I can start carrying concealed. That date was pegged to 90 days from the close of the session.

There aren’t any, other than my personal beliefs after having met with her. I said that from the start, but I can’t hold you to actually reading every post on this thread....

I assume the dem lawyer was going to defend it in a weak way so they would lose on purpose. Nice move to remove the dem!

Darned if I know where it is, but in a recent article (within the last 3-4 days) our AG, Terry Goddard, said that he would not defend the law. In reality, I believed at the the time that he was saying he could not in good conscience defend it.

Sounds like Goddard betrayed the trust of his client, the State of Arizona!

He’s been doing that for years.

Check out the article at the link - I particularly like what the Governor said about where the Administration’s efforts ought to be focused...

Stupid question here. Wasn’t Goddard required to step down in order to run for Gov.? Why would he have to be suspended from defending AZ’s immigration laws when he shouldn’t be representing us on anything?

No surprise this story is taking a bit of time to get out.

Locally, I’ve seen stories bylined “intern.”

This story won’t really break until Tuesday, after the holiday weekend. Newsrooms are running canned filler and skeleton staffs for the next couple days.

Friday eventing is traditionally a time when breaking news just disappears and/or goes unreported - holidays are worse.

To second-guess her motivations is a bit petty.

Yours is exactly the kind of attitude sleazebags incumbents count on. Take McCain for example. Right now he's out there screaming for border enforcement. While that is a good thing, do you really believe he would be doing that if he didn't feel he was being forced to by a tight primary race? Like that old song, if you believe that I have some oceanfront property in Arizona for you.

In Brewer's case yes, what she is doing is excellent. But that doesn't mean that there isn't a possibility she wouldn't have acted if she didn't feel primary pressure.

Excellent move on Governor Brewer’s part!

MS Governor Haley Barbour took the lawsuit against obamacare out of the democrat AG Jim Hood’s hands for the very same reason.

The story says that he was vocal in his criticism of the law. Stupid move on his part.
