It’s a lot more than real estate prices. Some of them wash up hereabouts and there is little about California they miss other than the weather.
Taxes, illegals, regulations, etc etc. Who would want to stay?

Sounds fishy. The oldest boomers are now 64, and the youngest 46 (if you take it to 1964). Maybe it's because more whites of childbearing age are leaving California for various reasons.
You’re right thought, the only thing I miss is the weather, the beaches, the occassional night in the liberal stronghold of SF, and the scenery....but I am glad I’m out and don’t miss much more than that.
If that were the case wouldn't they be remaining or even returning as the RE values plummeted? Truth is the white flight is the result of a desire to escape the mexican invasion, the onerous tax and anti business policies and the financial meltdown of the state.
Actually, it might not be “white flight”...it may be that anyone who can afford it is flying...and according to liberals, minorities are always poor and therefore they may be unable to flee the democrat controlled and dying state of CA.
A lot of these Cali’s see AZ as an attractive alternative. It’s a state going in the right direction. Kinda ironic with these folks heading to AZ and passing all the illegals heading to CA from there.

You're lucky. Twenty years ago, Seattle was the destination of oodles of Californians who moved in for the quality of life and affordable (by their standards) housing. Back then locals lamented that the region was being "Californicated".
For though these new arrivals professed to be escaping the troubles of Southern California, they brought their Southern California attitudes with them: knee-jerk liberalism, elitism, political correctness, and social justice to name a few. The result now is that the state of Washington is controlled politically by the Seattle population, and looks like California did about 20 years ago. And we're headed down the same path to ruin.
As liberal flee the cesspools that they breed, they take their lazy, greedy, socialist ideologies with them and inflict them on the well run conservative communities where they land, then proceed to vote and change into CA.
The might as well stay, live endure the swamps they create.
I hope to be among those white flighters. Never thought I would leave my beloved California, but the crime, traffic, illegals, and ridiculous cost of living have me desperate to get out.
