The recent global day against the imminent stoning of Sakine Mohammadi-Ashtiani in Iran for adultery is an example of the outrage sparked by the brutality associated with sharia law's penal code.
What of its civil code though – which the Muslim Council of Britain's Shaykh Ibrahim Mogra describes as "small aspects" that concern "marriage, divorce, inheritance, custody of children"? According to human rights campaigner Gita Sahgal, "there is active support for sharia laws precisely because it is limited to denying women rights in the family. No hands are being cut off, so there can't be a problem …"
Now a report, Sharia Law in Britain: A Threat to One Law for All and Equal Rights, reveals the adverse effect of sharia courts on family law. Under sharia's civil code, a woman's testimony is worth half of a man's. A man can divorce his wife by repudiation, whereas a woman must give justifications, some of which are difficult to prove. Child custody reverts to the father at a preset age; women who remarry lose custody of their children even before then; and sons inherit twice the share of daughters.

Interesting that they focus on family law which is one of the areas that the feminists have totally distorted so that it is the most anti-father institution in western society. Also this is one of the reasons that a lot of white Brits are converting to Islam, so that when the wife decide to divorce he doesn’t get totally screwed in family court but actually comes out ahead in the Muslim court. Provides an interesting counter balance to the out of control family court behavior in my opinion. So not really a bad thing from my perspective and if I was a Brit and not a Christian I’d probably convert just for this benefit a lone.
Keep in mind with the councils women really have NO CHOICE but to agree. Otherwise they will be TOTALLY REJECTED by their families. It’s a slick move, saying they’re voluntary, but they are not.
Maybe the Left is beginning to realize its “solution” to fix its erroneously perceived “Christian problem” is not to embrace sharia.
I had an inkling the writer would be a Persian woman. The only ones who will stand up in the west against the shariah madness are the Persian women -- in Canada too they were the ones who stopped the government from adopting shariah council rulings as binding -- because they have been mugged the worst by its reality....They went from freedom and very progressive women's rights protections in their country before carter-khomeini to right back to the 13th Century.

It’s encouraging that the Brits actually noticed it long enough to do a government report on it...and an unfavorable one, at that. So perhaps they’ll take action now and really put an end to the acceptance of shariah as being equal to English courts and law. The author is correct: Everything is wrong with sharia.

The punative provisions for screwing the camel or donkey only apply to women. As for doing the dog I believe that’s the death penalty for either sex. You know how muslims think dogs are unclean! Ha! Pot calling the kettle black. I’d go for the dog over the muslim any day.
I just watched the movie The Stoning of Soraya M. Watch it, it gives a horrible vision of the disgusting justice thats served out in Sharia Law. Woman are nothing in Sharia law but property. If they are accused of a crime they have to prove there innocence if they accuse there husbands of a crime they have to prove there husbands guilt.
The Left is just realizing how horribly they would be treated under this provision of Sharia Law. And conceivably they would have trouble just for having relations with leftist women, who in their large majority resemble canines.The left even call them biatches!
