PHOENIX (AP) -- The U.S. Justice Department on Tuesday filed a lawsuit challenging the constitutionality of Arizona's new law targeting illegal immigrants, setting the stage for a clash between the federal government and the state over the nation's toughest immigration crackdown.
The lawsuit filed in U.S. District Court in Phoenix argues that Arizona's law requiring state and local police to question and possibly arrest illegal immigrants during the enforcement of other laws such as traffic violations usurps federal authority.

I am heartened to hear your arguments. They need to be forwarded up to the legal staff in the governor’s office who will be defending the law.
Outrageous.
Absolutely brilliant! :)
Need to have a tourist info station with free maps and bus schedules (maybe even free fare tolkens) as well ;)
(Matthew 18:8-9)
If your hand or your foot causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to enter life maimed or crippled than to have two hands or two feet and be thrown into eternal fire. And if your eye causes you to sin, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to enter life with one eye than to have two eyes and be thrown into the fire of hell.
The litany of secession:
If a state or states causes socialism, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for a Free Republic to go on maimed or crippled than to have all its states and together be thrown into the eternal fire of collectivism. And if the Federal Government causes you to sin; secede from it, peacefully hopefully but secede just the same.. It is better to govern as a sovereign state, smaller and diminished in power than to be thrown into the fire of centralized Federal usurpation
So what happens if the Fed wins the case?
"Undocumented workers are just doing jobs Americans won't do".....
What about the Chicago gun laws? When are the feds going to crack down on that?
Are those the ‘undocumented immigrants’ hard at work? Is the gentleman at the left showing an example of doing the work Americans won’t do?
And further on down, Hillary! And Biden...one helluva insurance policy.
I really wish succession was not totally out of the question .... honestly, the time has come once again for states to take back their rights to exist without the Feds having them up their @$$es at every turn.
These MFs can’t lift a hand to secure the border but got lots of time and resources to violate states’ rights.
The preceding posts are right .. Impeach this incompetent bas****
“The lawsuit filed in U.S. District Court in Phoenix argues that Arizona’s law requiring state and local police to question and possibly arrest illegal immigrants during the enforcement of other laws such as traffic violations usurps federal authority.”
I be confoost????? “Usurps Federal authority”, but if Federal Authorities aren’t doing the job they not only took an oath to do, but in fact whose very Federal existence is to do that job of securing the border amongst other things, then Arizona should be suing them instead.
Heck!!! Every State on the border especially should be suing the damned Federal Government for NOT doing their job.
I think if the federal government continues to refuse to do its constitutional duty to defend the citizens of any sovereign state against the hordes of invading foreign law breakers, ie, illegal aliens, then the governor of such state has the right to call out the local militia to defend itself. And if the federal government insists on interfering with said defense, then the state must also defend itself from the tyrannical federal government. And we the people should defend said sovereign state to the hilt!!
I’d say a counter suit is in order.
It is all over for us.
