It's going to cost vacationers more to visit with Mickey Mouse starting Thursday, when Disney parks in California and Florida will raise ticket prices. Disney posted an announcement about the price hikes Tuesday on its Disney Parks blog. At Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida, the base price for one-day, one-park passes will rise from $79 to $82 for ages 10 and up. Tickets for children ages 3 to 9 will go from $68 to $74. The additional fee for park-hopper tickets will jump by $2 for one-day access, to $54.

I’ve been there once in the last 5 years. Too rich for my blood.

But I’ve always thought the high price is a crowd control measure. Can you imagine what the crowds would be if it were $40 to get in? There wouldn’t be enough room in that whole area if prices went lower.

Disney/ABC News was joyous and thrilled about the new mosque at the 9/11 site accord to ABC radio and their web sites.

Cancel cable and sat TV.

To be fair Disney didn’t suggest or promote the Gay Day there. I have a friend who was head of new construction in Orlando and he explained to me that anyone can declare any day to be whatever day they want at Disney.

If you wanted to declare and advertise “Free Republic Day” at Disney World and we all showed up then it means nothing to Disney, they would not advertise it but if we wanted to we could.

For the most part the workers there absolutely hate when the fags show up, there is always more complaints and problems with families on that day, the security forces run ragged trying to settle down the complaints and enraged strait guests.

I believe if Disney had a choice they would tell the queers to stick it, but never do so publicly because of their diversity image they want to portray.

“The Disney Age”? What would that be? I’m going in November and can’t wait.

This is why I don’t go to Disneyland, to rock concerts, to professional sporting events...these prices are highway robbery.

I went to Disneyland the first time when I was about 8. This was in the late 50s. Since then I’ve been about 30 times, mostly through the 70s. Then I moved to Utah. During that time the park expanded and changed, but there were quiet areas where an adult could sit and not be bothered. My how that changed. I took the kids in 1997 and discovered that there was not one place you could sit in the park without having some sort of promotion or venue banging at your personal space. All the quiet places that had been there for 40 years were gone. Concession prices were astronomical instead of just expensive. An 8oz bottle of water was $2.49 and they added tax! I’ve never been back. I can accept being overcharged as a tourist, but not being raped. F*** Disneyland

I went on Saturday July 3rd of this year. The park was EMPTY. I couldn't believe how empty. Short lines all day.

Now July 17th was crowded (55th anniversary) and July 24th was crowded because Tony Hawk was there - he broke a bone doing a skateboard demo for Quicksilver.

I have an annual pass and go once a week for 3 - 6 hours on Saturdays.

Rainy days are the best if you don't like crowds.

yah, at first glance, this price at Disney is exhorbitant, but then you have to look at prices for other things these days:

A lift ticket at Aspen, Vail, or Whistler will run in the 80’s range this season

A round of golf at a good course costs around 75 to 90

A movie is around 10 per person

A ticket for a good seat to a MLB game runs 40-50, and for an NFL game is around 100, and that’s only for a 3 hour game! Plus concert tickets are in the same range.

So, the Disney ticket is actually a relatively fair deal, when you consider you can come at opening at 9 am and stay until midnight. Now, of course, you have to take in the cost of parking, expensive food, souvenirs, etc, but then you have to buy 9 dollar beers at baseball games too....

20 times??? Holy cow!

Not meant to be a snarky question, but why?? I know several adults who can't get enough of Disney World, but I don't get the attraction.

And its only a matter of time before the Religion of peace “pops one off” in the middle of that place.

Avoid like the plague.

Man O man, I agree

Its not like families are trooping to the parks on vacation- even last summer was as bad as we’ve ever seen for low attendance (but good if you don’t like crowds)

Buy multiple days and the price per day drops significantly. 10 days are currently less than $25 a day. Still less than $50 per day with no expiration. $79 or $82 per day are for the stupid who do no advance planning.

That includes skiing as well.”

Instead of our usual annual outing to Colorado we went to the Snow Bowl in Flagstaff two years ago - they had tons of snow and limit the number of people. Hardly any line at the lifts. Not all the glitz and glamour of Lionshead or Beaver but in a weeks time we saved several thousand dollars and had a great time.

"The recession has really kept the crowds down this year."

We went to Knotts last year for spring break. The place was deserted. There was not more than 4 or 5 other folks in line on any ride. It was fantastic.

We asked about it and were told their spring break was the week before and it was packed. But still.

I personally view this as positive news. Given the economic circumstances Disney feels its brand is strong enough to command higher prices. I think they are doing this now on the assumption of future inflation.
