More accusations made in close Senate race (Miller V Murkowski)

SENATE RACE: Miller's camp says GOP group is preparing for legal battle.

There were more allegations by the Joe Miller campaign of ballot-counting monkey business on Saturday as the absentees continue to pour into the Alaska Division of Elections. State elections officials now say there are 23,472 ballots to process, with more coming, and the first count set for Tuesday.

Miller currently leads Alaska Sen. Lisa Murkowski by 1,668 votes in the Republican primary.

Miller campaign spokesman Randy DeSoto said in an e-mail Saturday that there are many calls going out to Alaskans who voted absentee ballots, asking them who they voted for in the primary.

DeSoto said his basis for making that assertion is that a woman contacted the Miller campaign about getting a call, that such a call was brought up in the comment section of a story on the Daily News website, and that several people had called an Anchorage talk radio show to say they've received such calls.

"I believe, and time will prove it, (the calls) are being done for nefarious purposes," DeSoto said in the e-mail. "It is definitely not being done by the Joe Miller campaign. It is being done, I believe, by the National Republican Senatorial Committee or someone they contracted with as the beginning of a legal battle to throw out ballots."

Reality is not defined by a court of law, especially when the court system is overrun by corruption (meaning liberals and rinos).

Your approach would define corruption as established by a court ruling, after some political hack prosecutor has been able to force his own corruption on the people via a sympathetic judge. Way to go rinos and liberals, you slimy piles of garbage.

Why let yourself be motivated by lies and corruption? Why let yourself be fooled?

“The absentee ballots had to be postmarked no later than August 24, 2010.

I think that’s the problem with some of them.
Mass mailing once Murkowski saw she was losing..... on election night.”

Onyx, I doubt that. The ballots have to be ordered by the individual voter. There is no way to do a mass mailing on election night when Murk saw she was behind. She would have had to collect the unused ballots and forge the names of the voters on them and get them mailed, all by midnight. Not really possible.

If I have a concern, it is not so much the absentee votes as the questioned ballots. There are 9000 of them but no one knows how many of these are dem or GOP. If 6500 are GOP and half belong to Murkowski, she would have to get 1668 more counted than Miller. Not really possible. It is likely the questioned ballots will split evenly. I could even see them favoring Miller.

Keep this in mind. Van Flein and the Lt. Governor are watching this, and they are very good. The GOP lawyers are incompetents and the “top lawyer” Cairncross left Alaska yesterday.

If the Alaska GOP had had an early voting operation and an absentee ballot operation like Begich in 2008, things might be different. But they did not.

Elections can be stolen. I don’t deny that for one minute. In order to steal them, though, you must have at least two things:

First, the election must be razor close. (2% is not razor close). I know of no election day lead of 2% that has ever been overcome by post-election day statewide counts. Stevens’ lead over Begich was about 1%.

Second, the plan to steal the election must be hatched, and extensive preparations made, BEFORE election day. Neither situation obtains here. Begich certainly did this and that is how he won.

A case in point as well is the Louisiana election of 1996. Conservative stalwart Woody Jenkins was ahead of Mary Landrieu by 51-49 on election night about 10 p.m., with the heavily Democrat ninth Ward Precincts in New Orleans yet to report. Jenkins was ahead by over 35,000 votes, but the New Orleans precincts held back. No one believed there were enough votes in the Ninth Ward to swing erase such a lead. Well, the Ninth Ward came in with a margin of over 40,000 for Landrieu and she won by 5500 votes out of 1.7 million cast. Later, Jenkins proved that there were at least 7700 “phantom votes”, which were votes over the number of registered votes at a precinct. He challenged the results, but could not overcome them and the margin was .3 of one percent, not two percent. (frankly, Jenkins made a serous mistake in failing to have poll watchers in teh Ninth Ward on election day. his campaign in New Orleans was run by a novice, not unlike Bitney).

My point is that Landrieu, Begich, and Franken knew they would be in close races. They “prepared” for those races, by methods fair and (perhaps)foul. And they prevailed.

Lisa read the WAPO and the Anchorage Daily Worker, as well as the Dittman and Berkowitz polls, and believed she was going to rout Miller. She made no preparations in advance, as evidenced by her inept campaign manager, John Bitney. Now she is scrambling to overcome a pretty solid lead by Miller. I don’t see it. Not under the circumstances that I know.

I don’t think Sarah Palin sees it either and that was the reason for her confident prediction yesterday.

I put the question to each of you Palinistas: How often is this woman wrong?

“what court of law brought charges against her?”

Is that the standard? Whether she has been indicted That is a pretty low bar.

You asked for ethical charges and I gave them to you. Her post hoc filings, amending her tax returns and disclosure statements, are an acknowledgment that the charges were meritorious.

You seem to be carrying water for her. Why don’t you admit the obvious?

Can you tell me about Seattle, Bruce?
NOt kidding here.
I’ve been to the liberal bastion of Portland but only in the Seattle airport.
Is it as liberal as I hear?
I know it is a beautiful place.

Alaska is a small state with only one member in the house. Alaska only has one road to legislation and that is via the Senate. Therefor the Senators from Alaska are very important with respect to other large states. Why do think Lisa does not support the soul of our nation? Why do not clean up your own state before being hyper critical of your neighbor?

I think you are probably right. I’ll be glad when it is resolved.I posted a link above, PPP has been doing a poll. Miller leads against the dem and also wins a 3 way with an indy Lisa.
They tried to marginalize Rubio like they are doing Miller. My left lib/dem sister told me the other day she is voting for Rubio. Too much change to quick, nobody trusts Bambi. Latest poll Rubio up by 10%, and it is only going to grow.

Bush and his “comassionate conservative” b.s.?
Bothered me him allowing Kennedy to write his education bill
and him NOT ever vetoing any of the outragous spending bills.

ADN has a story on the phonecalls. This is for those that like to throw out the “Liar” moniker.

I honestly think political campaigns, especially close ones, bear more than a passing resemblance to military ones. I think when the epitaph of Murkowski’s campaign is written, there will be many reasons for her (near certain) defeat. The following quote from General Douglas MacArthur might sum it up better than any other:

“The history of failure in war can almost be summed up in two words, too late. Too late in comprehending the deadly purpose of a potential enemy. Too late in realizing mortal danger. Too late in preparedness. Too late in uniting all possible forces for resistance. Too late in standing with one’s friends.”

Lisa was too late all the way around. To late in “embracing” conservatism (ie-standing with one’s friends); too late in taking Joe Miller seriously; and too late in preparing for a close election. She wound up flunking the “MacArthur” test, all the way around, and it is ironic indeed that she was flummoxed by one of MacArthur’s boys, West Pointer Joe Miller!

In just two words, “too late” sums up Murkowski’s failed bid for reelection in 2010.

You’re saying keep pro-obama rinos in power so they can get more legislation passed?

Are really you as confused as you sound?

Bush lied and deceived a lot of Conservatives into voting for him with his Compassionate Conservative nonsense.
Bush did two things right:
(a) Lowered taxes
(b) Did a pretty good job of prosecuting the war on Terror.
Otherwise a monumental failure.
If he truly had been a Conservative out of the Reagan mold with a Republican Congress then they could have really practiced what they preached. Controlling spending and trying to shrink National Government.
WHAT DID THEY DO; THE EXACT OPPOSITE.
If Bush had been a Democrat, he would have been the greatest since FDR.
The dramatic increase in Spending, the New Entitlement Programs that are bankrupting us along with Obama’s.
Bush in his first 7 years never vetoed a spending bill.
Well I could go on and on.
Bush was just like his Father and Grandfather, Elitist Eastern Liberal RINO’S. Never again will I ever vote for another Bush running for National Office!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Look if you want to support Lisa and the Status Quo then do so. Does that Committee spot mean that much in scheme of things?
There seems to be a Flood building against any and all Politicians right now and for better or worse that flood is going to happen.
So you either go with the flow or sink with the Debris, your call.

This isn’t about whether or not Murky wins, this is about the Republican establishment retaining power in the GOP. If Murky loses, the establishment still has to keep the walls from crumbling down around them.

Lisa fully supports natural resource extraction and will be in a very powerful position to make that happen.

Window dressing to get elected.  She's crooked like her dear ol' dad.

We're here on the Upper Yukon. Received that phone call about primary election on Thurs evening. Our son had sent in his absentee ballot. Wife told the lady he was out at the moment. Lady said she'd call back, never did. This has never happened before to our family and we have used absentee ballots for a couple years. It really pissed me off, I even called the Ak Repub Party and complained. Got even more upset when the news broke Friday afternoon. This sort of thing shouldn't go on to the repubs or dems, plain old corruption like we saw with the repubs back in late 90's and 2002; just ain't right.

I'm getting to the point that I don't even believe my own Repub Party and I know I don't believe a word ADN has to say.

Wife and I were offered teaching slots down Yakutat about a dozen years back. I flew down signed contract, fished the Situk 2 days; saw more wild steelies than I had ever seen. Wife wouldn't go, she didn't like having to take several plane rides to get anywheres. So I got out of the contract; but have always thought what if? So now we are up on the Yukon where it gets minus 65 every January, but I have all the stinkin salmon a man could ever wont of. halibut dreams nitely though.
