Merkel to honor Mohammed cartoonist at press award
reuters.com ^ | Sep 8, 2010 | Stephen Brown and Knut Engelmann
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/2585383/posts?

“German Chancellor Angela Merkel risked angering Muslims by speaking at an awards ceremony on Wednesday for a Dane whose cartoons of the Prophet Mohammed provoked sometimes violent protests by Muslims five years ago. The 75-year-old cartoonist Kurt Westergaard, whose drawings of Mohammed that offended Muslims worldwide first appeared in Danish paper Jyllands-Posten in 2005, was due to receive a prize on Wednesday evening at a conference on freedom of the press...”

The Muzlims are lucky we aren’t burning them.

The Vatican giving credibility to Pagan Islam as a religion seems a dangerous stand given the Bibles clear discription of how God views Pagan religion, practices, books, images etc.

Of course, the idiot didn’t notice that they’re trying to kill our troops already. I sometimes wish we could resurrect Patton and a couple other actual generals. And Black Jack Pershing.

I think this support for this burning is a manifestation of hatred that everyone is feeling towards Muslims. People are fed up and I daresay that the Muzzies are going to end up getting upset about more than a Koran burning. A lot of poeple are no openly saying what they wouldn’t dream of saying before. Muslims have been stupid to excuse courtesy for acceptance of their lifestyle.

If they do keep pushing, more burnings will happen and perhaps people will start attacking Muslims in the street. I am sure such things have happened and that the press simply hasn’t covered it. I have no more ‘tolerance’ for anything and frankly I wonder if I might do such a thing, for therapy. I really don’t care anymore and neither really do most people I know. Many support this and rightly.

Each time the Muzzies complain, they anger more and more people. They are beginning to realize that they are on the losing end and will likely experience a backlash. And it won’t be nice. If the government told us more about the attacks that they have tried, there will be blood in the streets. Every so often civilized society has to vomit up the bile that has infected the body.

>>It is because of my conservative, and my Christian, Scripture-based principles, that I oppose the burning of any book<<

Deuteronomy 7:5 But thus shall ye deal with them; ye shall destroy their altars, and break down their images, and cut down their groves, and burn their graven images with fire.

“Many of them also which used curious arts brought their books together and burned them before all men and they counted the price of them and found it fifty thousand pieces of silver. So mightily grew the word of God and prevailed.” Acts 19:19-20.

>>I agree with the Pope. “Outrageous.” “Grave.” NOT the way Christians behave.<<

Didn’t used to be that way. Catholic ways must have changed over time.

Since the Church and Christian states viewed the Talmud as a book hateful and insulting toward Christ and gentiles, subsequent popes were also known to organize public burnings of Jewish books. The most well known of them were Innocent IV (1243–1254), Clement IV (1256–1268), John XXII (1316–1334), Paul IV (1555–1559), Pius V (1566–1572) and Clement VIII (1592–1605).

The burnings of Hebrew books was initiated by Pope Gregory IX, who persuaded French King Louis IX to undertake it.

While that is biblical, we still find the Constitution (man’s law) to be the law we have to live under (or leave the nation or change the law). “Render unto Caesar...”

There are Islamist governments around the world that hold true to the violent and restrictive (on religious freedom) passages of the Koran. Since we see evidence in the modern world (including present day slavery and calls for violent jihad), we have a right to express caution when foreign governments fund the expansion of Islam in America through the construction of mosques and the importation of educational materials for childrens’ radical indoctrination.

Not every muslim belongs to a radical mosque or listens to a radical Imam but they all seem angry at the suggestion that any muslims in this nation are beholden to a foreign allegiance or sedition towards this nation. They can’t simply fall back on the excuse “well that’s not real Islam then”. They need to do more to rid their communities of those who “pervert” the teachings.

I have no qualms about denouncing so called Christians as Jeremiah Wright and Fred Phelps. You can lump plenty of televangelists in there as well.

First I am not a libtard or liberal period. Second I will fear no evil. I received a copy of the koran in the mail yesterday and plan on soaking it in bacon grease and burning it on Saturday. I am showing no more disrespect than islam does for our flag and Bible. To hell with them all!

There will be backlash not only for our military but for Americans and especially Christians worldwide. All this so some “pastor” can have his 15 minutes.

***************************************************

Backlash? Muslims routinely slaughter Christians in places like Egypt, Iraq, Kenya, Somalia, Ethiopia, Indonesia. Malaysia, Afghanistan and Pakistan...every damn day!!! It’s about time someone stood up to them!

Some pastor of a small church in FL wants to burn some books and his critics call him barbaric, outrageous, etc because muslims will riot and kill people as a result. And the pastor’s actions are the only ones being called outrageous????

As a matter of self defense the practice of islam should be outlawed in The West. It’s not a religion it is a political, judicial and cultural cod e of life that is violent, anti-modern and antithetical to the values and morals of The West. Mosques are recruiting centers for terrorism and should be closed. All of them!

>>They need to do more to rid their communities of those who “pervert” the teachings.<<

The problem is, they can’t do that because the very book they use as a base of their so called religion tells them what to do.

Fight the disbelievers! Allah is on your side; he will give you victory. 9:12-14

The “Religion of Truth” (Islam) must prevail, by force if necessary, over all other religions. 9:33

Fight the disbelievers and hypocrites. Be harsh with them. They are all going to hell anyway. 9:73

If you refuse to fight for Allah, he will punish you with a painful doom. 48:16

This is what ALL Muslims believe. At least if they believe in what the Koran says. Are any of those quotes moderate?

We are also in a position that such acts may be denounced as apostates from the Vatican. Are you willing to risk a chance to be called the enemy of church and the Vatican, and maybe beyond?
*********************************************************

I’ve been a faithful Catholic all my life but if the Church is going to consider me an enemy because I denounce the false religion of islam and support the burning of their evil book then I’ve made a new enemy.

I understand that, but that seems to assume there is none now. There is non stop violence against our troops as it stands - otherwise the WOT would be won.

I understand ALL of that. Of course, it isn’t the beginning of violence by Muslims but it will increase the violence. And alot of public opinion will be sympathetic to the Muslims (ridiculous I know). This pastor is not standing up to anyone. He is in it for his 15 minutes.

I don’t think the pastor is barbaric. I think he is an attention seeking idiot.

No they are wrong for the reason I posted. Both Old and New Testaments teach God has a begotten Son, the Koran emphatically rejects Allah having a son. False beliefs menat to confuse and misinterpretations create the error

If he can’t get the fire permit (the city is looking to deny him), then can he hold a rally to beat it with his shoe?

IOW, if someone was TRULY taking a stand against Islam like you are talking about (outlawing it), then I can see the increase in violence worldwide as a price we must pay for doing the right thing. I hate to see an increase in violence so some idiot can get famous. Does that make it clearer?

"...and get one trillion virgins that look like this.."

FWIW, although the virgins might look like her, because Helen is a widow she herself would not qualify :)
