Karl Rove Says Christine O'Donnell Needs to Explain Witchcraft 'Dabbling' to Voters

Karl Rove, political mastermind for former President Bush, said Sunday that Christine O'Donnell, the Tea Party insurgent who won an upset victory in Delaware for the GOP Senate nomination, "can't simply ignore" the controversy stirred over the disclosure that she "dabbled in witchcraft" and has to find a way to "explain it and put it in its most sympathetic light and move on." "In southern Delaware, where there are a lot of church-going people, they're probably going to want to know what was that all about," Rove said on Fox News Sunday. "And again, she said it on television when she went on the ... the Bill Maher show." Rove was referring to an October 1999 appearance O'Donnell made on Maher's "Politically Incorrect" show where she said," I dabbled into witchcraft -- I never joined a coven... One of my first dates with a witch was on a satanic altar, and I didn't know it." O'Donnell had been on Maher's show frequently in the 1990s, and Maher has said he is going to show an O'Donnell clip each week until she agrees to appear again.

A confession to Karl Rove: Many years ago, I went to see the Maya ruins in Central America. While there, I dabbled in the study of the Maya culture, including the common practice of human sacrifice. However, that was a youthful time so I can state truthfully that I currently have no desire to remove any human hearts using stone knives.

Remember the “light as a feather, stiff as a board”...and the ouiji board? Young peeps dabble into things they shouldn't. I'm sure NO ONE here has "dabbled" into something they shouldn't have as a youngster.

One of my first girlfriends had a Quija Board and we, along with our friends occasionally messed with it, and the only thing that happened was everyone accusing someone of using their own hands to move the planchette, no big deal.

Then the Exorcist came out. My girlfriend and I went to see it. It scared the living daylights out of both of us. I told her that very night "we are getting rid of that damn Quija Board" and she agreed. That was on a Saturday night.

Sunday morning, I picked her up, she had the Quija Board, box and all, and tossed it in the back seat. We stopped along the way to the local dump, and I purposely took the board out and stomped on it, breaking it in two. Put it back in the box, laid it flat on the back floorboard.

We pulled up at the local dump (which was closed being Sunday), and before either of us could get out of the car, we both heard the fragments of the Quija Board rattling in the box, as if it were literally trying to get out.

I pulled the box out, tossed it about 4 or 5 feet, and we watched the damn thing jumping around as if there were rats or some kind of pest inside the box. I ran the damn thing over as we left at high speed, and never looked back.

Never fooled with a Quija Board again either.
