Conservatives denounce GOP 'Pledge' as sellout, inside job
The Daily Caller ^ | 9/25/10 | Jon Ward

House Republicans have been relatively successful this week at presenting a united front around their “Pledge to America,” but only through a strategic outreach campaign to lawmakers, media and outside groups, that has managed to keep deep dissatisfaction over several key issues largely under wraps.

Still, interviews with Republican aides reveal that many in the GOP caucus are unhappy that there was no earmark ban and no promise to pass a balanced budget amendment in the proposal, which was unveiled Thursday by House Minority Leader John Boehner. The inclusion of a health insurance provision considered to be mandate angered many conservative lawmakers.

RE :”Amnesty is still on the table. The GOP appears ready to destroy America along with the Democrats.

It's not called amnesty, we call it ‘registration’. Registration is better because it doesn't reward lawbreakers or put them at the front of the line. What is the registration for ?? They have to pass the bill first so we can find out what's in it(find out what the registration is for: 'psssst , amnesty') .

Hey think back to this whole period from the dems taking back the congress, obama getting elected, the stimulus slush fund, and the health care plan.
The dems got TONS of traction on saying the money melt down was actually DONE by Bush and the Republicans.
The dems got tons of media and retained supporters by saying health care plan will save the VA, medicare medicaid, social security, and gut the deficit! Many still believe them and support them.
It just goes on and on and the whole thing done by the Republicans was not very smoothly executed.
If I need to go on with all the permutations and scenarios then all I can think is those questioning my post really have not paid any attention to politics or current events for the last 20 years

You forgot Gingrich, Specter and Rove.

Indeed, not to forget most of both houses of Congress.

Do we really want them to come out before the election and promise to phase out the Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid programs? Wouldn't it be better to first get elected and then explain to the public why it is necessary to dismantle the welfare state?

Do you actually believe the GOP would ever do that?

Why do they need a “pledge” of some enumerated talking points to buy votes? I thought conservatism already contained all of these, and more.

Unless, of course, they’re not really conservatives.

Like the rest of the Hate-the-GOP-Always 3rd party-bots here on Freeper, you would hate what ever the GOP did.

Then you can condemn the vast majority of posters here on FR, the conservative worldview is what Jim Robinson espouses - if you don't agree, get lost. The DUmp might be more appropriate.

No one here "hates" (gosh, if ever that is a meaningless mantra of the left) the GOP; we hate how it has been hijacked by impostors.

The fact that they dropped many of the non-negotiable conservative issues - what many would ingenuously call “social” issues - shows that RINO’s are still the mouthpiece of the party.

A question for you:

Who do you think will be more effective at getting a vehicle out of a ditch: Someone on the outside constantly applying leverage, or someone in the back seat cheering for the driver that put the vehicle in the ditch in the first place as he spins the wheels?

The problem for any majority is inside the beltway D.C.business as usual—that is what is being protected. If you base your politics on The GOP cheerleaders Beck,Limbaugh,Hannity who have never set foot on the Hillyou are lost. You have been lied to if you believe everything by Obama will be repealed-industry wants some things that have passed. Even
if repealed do you think the Conservative dream would automatically de facto come back?

Why do you think the GOP leadership will fulfill all of its promises when it did not do it before?

The dem attack on this is that it doesn't have specifics. Well, it's not supposed to have specifics...it's like a mission statement, not a battle strategy white paper.

The dems just want details so they can use them to attack...it's harder to attack concepts, which is why the dems are whining.

Oh please, give it a frigging break, I did not "accuse" you of any such thing... you obviously have a problem reading written words, so you might want to slink back to the GOP hangout and take some reading lessons... everyone here can clearly see your true allegiance... and that would be to a political party.

If you can't debate your beliefs, then I'm sure facebook has some people you can try to belittle without being challenged...

Dismantle Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid. Heck, I don't expect them to dismantle Obamacare. They're tap-dancing like crazy on that.

Where does anybody say that we believe the "GOP leadership will fulfill all of its promises"

Why do you think FReepers are curious about your very first thread being a turd in the punchbowl?

DUavenger(33rd iteration) is back!

“hijacked by impostors”; got that right! But more importantly, not only has it been hijacked by imposters; it’s been ruined by the wealthy elite turncoat RHINO’s who pay lip service to Conservative values and then vote aagainst them when no one is looking.

Well, geez, the way I see it, the GOP leadership is standing firm, shoulder to shoulder, champing at the bit and hoping to guess so with regard to each one of those job-killing programs. With that kind of enthusiasm in the air, I think just about nothing could happen, and sooner rather than later. So, speaking for myself, I’m preparing.
