Kalifornia lost cause
None | None

Posted on 11/03/2010 6:13:01 AM PDT by kgrif_Salinas

While the country made a sharp turn to the right, giving the GOP the House in a landslide, CA has moved MORE to the LEFT, if thats possible. Jerry "Moonbeam" Brown as the next Gov, with a Dem Assembly, AND Prop 25 passed, which only requires a simple majority to pass a budget. CA is doomed, and will soon fall into the Pacific. I predict CA bankruptcy before 2012. Truly a land of fruits and nuts.

Conservatives in California are like Christians in Iraq.

There are many conservative Calif who see that their vote doesn’t count anymore. They still vote and campaign for a more conservative changes but they are simply to small a minority. They would like to move but they can’t because of employment and health insurance, etc.

At least have a little sympathy for them...

After all when Obama was swept in it didn’t make you stupid or an idiot because you lived in a country that elected him.

I agree with you, Californians should stay put. The last great movement screwed Washington and turned Colorado from red to blue.

Let's also not forget that whatever is being said about California also goes for Illinois, New York and most of the Northeast. The gravy train is over and anyone in the House or Senate who trys to bail them out is toast.

I left New York in 1977 and don't ever want to go back. If you think governor Moonbeam is bad, wait till Cuomo takes over in New York.

Ditto. Michigan finally elected a GOP governor after decades of economic decay. NJ went thru the same process due to extremely high property taxes. Only MA, CA amd NY refuse to change. Give them time as state pensions, high taxes and illegal immigrants will crush the state. One thing great about recessions/depressions, even liberal moderates will get it.

It is my understanding that provisional votes have to be verified before they are counted.

The envelope you put the ballot into only suggested that you write your license or social security number. It was not a requirement.

We are here for the same reason, my husband has a fantastic job and Santa Barbara is incredibly beautiful. I was born here and raised here, I have seen a decline that in unbelievable but having said that our particular situation is good - for the time being anyway.

Who was being pragmatic... that does not make sense... Primaries are what they are... they are for the people to choose. And a loss is not always a bad thing, ya can’t blame conservatives... “One good thing”... your last point is right on!

Some of the local races were tighter than normal (I’m talking state assembly races), but if we get a Dem governor, we are f-ed. That is still too close to call right now.

Dem state house and senate with a Dem Gov = Tax, tax, and more tax.

I’m with you, I never saw a cut I didn’t like. Some of my friends parrot they want cuts, but when it comes to their local property tax and school budgets it’s “Oh, not that. We can’t cut that” and up goes my mill rate.

Demography is destiny. CA is on its way to becoming a third world country.

Well, guess what? So is the rest of the country as a whole. At a slower pace, but going there nontheless. USA RIP. It was good while it had sense. Once it began buying into progressive tripe in the early 1900s, it sealed its fate.

Thank you for being clear on the fact that California LEFTIES are the ones responsible. I hate when people lump us all together. I didn’t vote for any of these turkeys.

Brown will guarantee four years of drama, fear, uncertainty and doubt.

Only Obama can save them now.

If you see a car with a CA plate, it’s not a liberal. It’s a REFUGEE from liberalism.

Good point. We will also see a lot more lefties move into California, so hey, they is some positive for you'all. Perhaps moonbeam can construct a Statue of Tyranny which would be the anti-thesis of the Statue of Liberty.

Here’s the thing — we are CA natives. Think often about moving to CO, where many family members have moved. However, we are ensconced in jobs and community affairs, so it might not happen. 50-50.

I do believe the tide is turning. The local TeaParty did a bang-up job of getting out the vote, and our conservative, new State Assemblyman WON. He was opposed tooth and nail by the SEIU goons. This is terrific.

This is the same battle, different front, that is being fought around the world. Look at the Catholic Church — the Pope is fighting to clean out the pockets of liberalism. They are not all gone — yet. The Germans are starting to understand that they cannot just spend, spend, spend, and they are returning to conservative values. The Tea Party is rising and thriving here in the US. The fog of the 60s is clearing and folks are starting to repudiate the excesses.

Will it happen overnight? No. Will there be set-backs? Yes. Does it mean we should give up? NO NEVER!! There were many battles lost in the American Revolution, and there were many times people could have given up. But they never did. Same for World War 2 — many battles lost in the first years. Same in the Civil War.

I just read Churchill’s quote, tho — ‘This is not the end. This is not even the beginning of the end. But it might just be the end of the beginning.’ And Pope JP2’s quote (on my desktop) is also right — “Do not abandon yourselves to despair. We are the Easter people, and Hallelujah is our song.”

I have already let my family in CA know the welcome mat is out in our ancestoral state of CT, or we all head far north to Alsaska.

You guys had better keep a sharp eye on your own state! This is moving your direction i.e. unfettered illegal and legal immigration from the Third Word. California is already bankrupt. Would the last productive Californian turn out the lights (permanently)? It may be me.....

We are so screwed here in CT. My family in CA might as well stay there, we are both in equal amounts of trouble.

You should read post #109 right below yours. It is the truth, and red areas to where Californians “escaped” have embraced a good portion of their pathology. The mayors of such “red” areas as big as Salt Lake City and as little as Coeur d’ Alene are indistinguishable from those in big West Coast cities. With the millions of illegals about to become citizens in the near future (and it WILL happen), the former red states are just as doomed as California.
