I was heartened to see the disgust with which people reacted to the news of this book being sold on Amazon, but this public outcry is too little, too late.
Boycotting Amazon for carrying this title not only has been tried before (and failed), but it ignores the root causes of the problem. On sites like Blogher the calls for Amazon to remove one of Greaves’ books are little more than demands that Amazon hide the reality of the well organized pro-pedophilia movement which has been empowered both by the rise of the Internet and our own inability to confront evil as a culture. This is not the first time it has been pointed out that Amazon is helping sell pro-pedophile propaganda, but it is the first time Americans – and the Right in particular – have expressed this level of outrage, which is part of the problem.
Where was the outrage when Amazon was found to be selling a book called Paedophilia: The Radical Case written by a convicted pedophile named Tom O’ Carroll? O’Carroll was a founding member of the leftist influenced Paedophile Information Exchange in the 70s and was publicly working toward normalizing child sexual exploitation for years, until he was arrested in 2006. Private sellers on Amazon still list the book in the marketplace.
Where were the calls for boycotting Amazon when it published the writings of a Canadian leftist and NAMBLA member who went by the name Viamund the Rake, and whose oeuvre included a book of awful poetry called Viamund the Boy-love Vampire Says…? His work has also appeared on the website Counterpunch under the handle Pariah.

Generally speaking I would consider that a sign that a show is of a lower quality, however, I’ve never watched even a single episode, so I really can’t say if that was the case here.
I was watching a movie this morning, kind of a dark comedy, that was released in 1971. There was no nudity or improper language. It was such a contrast to what is the standard today.
Shep Smith was just on with two attorneys arguing for & against Amazon’s liability.
Apparently the book was being listed as #1 in sales - when it was pulled.
One attorney commented that the perverts who purchased the book on line are now on a list!!!!

If you are going to advocate stooping PCism then I suggest you start by using the word that covers all this disease - QUEER - in discussions on the topic.
I might very well have made such a determination after having read the book, but I've not read it, and don't intend to.
I just won't conclude that's what he did, based solely on the title of his book and random internet flames.

That’s a strange standard. Surely you must take authors’ words about books sometimes, or you have read every book before you know whether you want to read it or not? You said you already don’t wan to read this book, but can’t make a “judgement” about it.

Would you think it’s okay for Amazon (or any other similar book selling establishment) to sell a book that is for sure a how-to manual for pedophiles? (Since for some reason you’re not sure if this how-to manual for pedophiles really is what it claims to be.)

Suppose Amazon was selling a book titled "Suicide, a How-To Book for Young Teens". Would you immediately jump to outrage? Would your opinion change if you found out it was written by National Lampoon?
I'm pretty sure that almost nobody in this kerfuffle has even seen, let alone read, a copy of this book.
Please reread my post. I did not use the term “gay.” I was replying to another poster that used said term. I generally refer to these creatures, as perverts, queers, deviants, homos, disease vectors and fecal-eaters. Thank you for the opportunity to clarify.

I figured my using gay to describe homosexuals would get some flack, but not this kind of idiocy. IANAL, but AIUI the general cutoff between protected speech and criminal incitement is specificity. Was the speaker or writer encouraging a specific criminal act. Writing a how-to book does not meet that standard.
Consider another topic. If someone writes a book that describes how to make explosives out of fertilizer and model airplane fuel, should we allow it to be published and sold? If someone reads that book, and then sets off a truck bomb outside of a federal building, should the author be legally liable?

There’s a huge difference between approving of something and thinking that it’s a good idea to give the government the power to ban something.

Mods, this guy is supporting the "How To Be a Pedophile" book and when I tried to get him to clarify his position, since at first he said he didn't think this was a "real" how-to-be-a-successful-pedophile manual, he didn't answer clearly.
But now he has. In his world view, pedophilia and gunsmithing are equivalent.
I hope that Free Republic is not going to tolerate this.
