Posted on 11/19/2010 4:07:33 PM PST by kristinn
The million-dollar question among Dancing with the Stars fans these days? How did Bristol Palin make it into the season 11 finals?
"She deserves it," DWTS executive producer Conrad Green tells PEOPLE. "And a significant portion of our viewing audience believes that, too."
Speculation has arisen about whether members of the Tea Party, many of whom strongly support Bristol's mom Sarah Palin, are involved in an organized effort to promote Bristol.
On one conservative Web site, Freerepublic.com, some of the site's 300,000 registered users have recently used discussion threads to encourage votes for Bristol. One asked users to "make liberal heads explode and vote for Bristol" on Nov. 8 to advance her to the semi-finals.
But Jim Robinson, who founded the site, says there is no larger plan at work. "An organized conspiracy? I sincerely doubt that," he told PEOPLE. "The Tea Party's not that organized!"
And Green agrees that there's no stuffing of the virtual ballot-box, saying that the entire process text votes, call-in votes and email votes "is all overseen by the Broadcast Standards team, independent of us and the network to make sure that everything is absolutely done scrupulously."

Many LURKERS also! (like me)
Love your quote Jim. *Anytime* Conservatives land in the pages of the propagandists, it makes liberal heads explode. We’re supposed to be second class citizens and remain quiet!
That People Magazine is lurking on FR, or
That People Magazine is printing quotes from FR threads, or
That People Magazine interviewed Jim about this, or
That People Magazine actually believes it's a TP conspiracy, or
That People Magazine just gave FR a buttload of free advertising, or
That liberal heads really ARE exploding
I know it's the most fun I've had on FR in a long time. Let's FReep the vote next week!
Well, now that you’ve laid it out like that I am LOL too.
Jim’s getting pinged to our DWTS thread on Monday, so the fun really starts then...lol.
This is ALL your fault, you know? :)
ah yes, love the sound of heads exploding in the morning, hmmm...sounds like a hundred yards of bubble paper......
Ok, I’m in on this too. What to I do? Watch and dial in a number? I don’t text, so how do I vote?
There are a lot of online resources to show what various Tea Parties are really doing. It’s very local, and some are more organized than others.
We thought we were in own little DWTS world. I posted the threads in CHAT, not NEWS...:)
Hey! They didn’t call us a “blog”!
Same here. Hardly ever watch the show.
You know, I think you’re right. I might vote ONCE. I doubt seriously that FRpers would waste their time voting several times for Bristol.
I admit, I did want her to survive the first round...but now? I don’t know. Clearly, she’s tired, she wants off, she expected to lose, she’s hanging in there with a popular dance partner.
I think it shows that Americans love an underdog.
But, if Jennifer does “The Time of My Life” I’ll probably vote for her.
Not easy someone her age to do what she’s done.
:)Next he’ll be at the finals with Sarah and Todd.
White Powder Sent To ‘Dancing With The Stars’
Is that Bristol’s number?
We are having too much fun:)
Absolutely plus she has very little fan base because she has been off the scene except for bad press.
I did it online. . I’m not sure when voting starts each week, I just do it when show is over: http://abc.go.com/shows/dancing-with-the-stars
White Powder Sent To Bristol Palin
I did! I got on DWTS Facebook page and said VOTE FOR BRANDY!! Then I put Bristol”s number beside it to call.....
and talk about the hate mail I got.... apparently they are mindless followers, b/c one person told me I owe her a vote....she fell for it....she wanted me to call Brandy’s number to even it out for me fooling her into voting for Bristol.... hahhahahaha I told her “sure thing” hehehhe
Typical liberals, change the rules mid-stream. Leave the voting hours open longer......grrrr!
I didn’t know FR was up to 300,000 members. That is quite impressive in itself.
Great free publicity!
I would have to think by this time, that Lib sites are asking people to vote against our girl in the final?
I would be surprised if this is not the case for the final.
Why thank you for this. Haven’t watched one episode of DWS, too busy on the ranch. Now that there’s a FR/TP conspiracy, I think I’ll start voting. Like someone else said, I’m using every freaking phone on the farm and voting till my fingertips bleed. By the way, where is a photo of Jim Robinson? I haven’t been weak in the knees for while...
Just look for the DWTS thread on Monday night, posted by Dr. Scarpetta I believe. The phone number is posted multiple times on this thread. Basically you just call the number, and if you get through, it registers your vote. I think each phone # can vote five times (which means 20 votes for me!).
You know that Palin is Vote for the Worst’s pick, don’t you? All those nutty VFTW airheads have been voting for her for weeks now?
I knew the fix was in when Margaret Chow was voted off.
People Magazine missed the boat by not publishing this picture of Jim with their article...
RE: “How many people here would really take time to vote on a celebrity dance contest?
On the DBM threads a fair number of us havnt owned a television in years.”
Certainly not me! I never watch that show and if I did, I would not be voting — just not something I do — I’ve watched American Idol a time or two but never voted.
Agree there are few on FR who would spend their time trying to vote for Bristol Palin — or anyone else — on this show — nothing wrong with it, but it’s not something most on FR would likely bother with, I’m sure.
Awesome picture! Jim Robinson rocks!
Can someone post how to vote for Bristol from a regular phone, what the number is and when the next night to vote for her will be.
I'm sure many others here want to know, also. Thanks in advance,
VOTING HOW IT WORKS:
During the live shows, judges will give a score based on several factors, including technical execution. But the judges scores alone do not decide a couples fate.
Phone lines, text votes (AT&T customers only) & online polls will open at the top of each performance show so that viewers can vote for their favorites. Phone & text lines will stay open for 30 minutes after the end of the show. Online voting will remain open until 11am (Eastern Time) the next day.

The ones that don’t vote at all are the largest conspiracy!
On different threads, several people have written about calling/emailing in many votes. Although it’s just a silly tv show/popularity contest, why does that make it okay to cheat or encourage cheating? How is this moral?
Making "the world's most interesting man" look boring since 19XX...

Here are the official voting rules posted at abc:
Maybe I’m missing something but I see no rule here that’s been violated by those who’ve cast lots of votes. On the contrary, abc seems to be actively encouraging individuals to cast many votes.
Bristol Palin & Mark Ballas - Waltz - Week 9
Bristol Palin and Mark Ballas Dancing with the Stars week 7 Viennese Waltz
I posted on one of the liberal sites “Oh fine NOW you are worried about voter fraud. Yet there were only crickets about Chicago, MN, and now AK.”
If Bristol wins this thing it will get very interesting. I know that there are many purists here on FR who sniff at the mere mention of even watching this show. But like it or not there are people who are learning to vote by watching these shows. Ignoring the block would be a mistake. obama clearly understood that.
