Perry: Take TSA patters and put them on border security detail By Bridget Johnson - 11/20/10 09:49 AM ET
The incoming chairman of the Republican Governors Association suggested Friday that TSA screeners would be more help securing the nation's border with Mexico.
Texas Gov. Rick Perry said Friday on Fox Business Network that states need to "push Washington back into that box that we call the United States constitution," but said the federal government needs to follow through on its responsibility of securing the U.S. border.
"Just in the last two weeks, I've had five of my citizens who've lost their lives on that border with Mexico, and that is an irresponsible lack of focus by our federal government," Perry said, calling the federal security an "abject failure."
When asked if, in the wake of the TSA invasive pat-down controversy, he'd replace TSA screeners as states are allowed under federal law, Perry had an idea.
"How about we take all those TSA agents and put them on the border with Mexico where they can do some security there?" Perry said. "That's where we need security substantially more than in our airports and what we're seeing out of this bunch."
Perry cautioned that the incoming lawmakers in the 112th Congress "better be dreaming about" cutting the size of government and embracing fiscal conservatism when they go to sleep at night and focus on it every waking day.
"That's the type of individual that will be rewarded by the voters with a re-election," he said.
The possible presidential contender said that will also be the hallmark of a successful nominee.
"I'd like to find somebody with the characteristics will stand up and run for the presidency in 2012 and say, I want to go to Washington, D.C. and help you make Washington as inconsequential in your life as I can make it," he said.
Perry didn't say whether he was that person, but said he had "the best job" as governor of the Lone Star State. "I want to be back in the state being a governor and making things happen," he said.
He sees the handwriting on the wall-—he’s moving right!

Well that remark should light up the conservative switch board! TSA to the border! Perfect. He wins the soundbite samba this week.
I don’t know what to think of Perry but I like this proposal.

What did Presidents Hoover, Truman, and Eisenhower have in common?
This is something that should be of great interest for you to pass around. I didn’t know of this until it was pointed out to me.
Back during the great depression, Herbert Hoover ordered the deportation of ALL illegal aliens in order to make jobs available to American citizens that desperately needed work.
Harry Truman deported over two million illegal aliens after WWII to create jobs for returning veterans.
In 1954 Dwight Eisenhower deported 13 million Mexicans. The program was called Operation Wetback. It was done so WWII and Korean veterans would have a better chance at jobs. It took two years, but they deported them!
Now if they could deport the illegal aliens back then, they could sure do it today. If you have doubts about the veracity of this information, enter Operation Wetback into your favorite search engine and confirm it for yourself.
Why you might ask can’t they do this today? Actually the answer is quite simple. Hoover , Truman, and Eisenhower were men of honor, not untrustworthy politicians looking for votes!

Rick Perry is to Border Security like Obama is to Capitallism.
I keep hearing what a RHINO Rick Perry is but it almost seems like he has had a sincere change of heart. He has gone to the trouble to write that new book “Fed Up” and he is definitely talking the talk. If he can walk the walk I would take a serious look at him in 2012. You have to admit he looks like a President. Its been a long time since we had that in the Oval Office.

In the Sonoran desert in Arizona, it's considered bad form to be in the back country unarmed. Carrying lots of water goes without saying, no matter where you are.
Same goes for New Mexico, where I spent some time, too.

Finally...oh he use to be a dem and switched when he saw the writing on the wall in the State of Texas...no dems elected to high office.
Yep, that and stop all SNAP, WIC and other ‘entitlements” for illegals. See how fast that sends ‘em packing. Let our entitlement programs be mainly for vets and American elderly, disabled and widows.
Perry was a legislator who was asked to switch parties to run against very lefwing TX Commissioner of Agriculture, Jim Hightower, in 1990. He ran and ended Hightower's political career. I'm grateful that Hightower never got to run for senator or governor!
