Bushes name Mitt Romney as their 2012 favorite

Former President George H.W. Bush and former first lady Barbara Bush named Mitt Romney as their favorite Republican for the 2012 presidential nomination.

"If you asked me, who was the nominee be, I couldn't tell you. We like Mitt Romney. We know him well and like him very much," Bush said in an interview with CNN's Larry King.

The former president then joked about his support, saying: "Don't want to kill him off."

"He's a reasonable guy. A conservative fellow, which is good. But, no, I think he'd be a good president, a very good president," Bush said of the former Massachusetts governor.

The former first lady echoed Bush's words when she was asked her favorite.

"I'll go with George. Mitt Romney. I like a lot of them. But I like people who feel that you can respect other people's ideas. I like that a lot," Barbara Bush said.

The Bushes were asked if their son, former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, was thinking about a presidential run.

"I don't think he is. In fact, I know he's not. But, would he be a good president? Absolutely. Don't just take that from a father prejudice view. I mean, he's a good man. He performed as governor. He's well spoken. He is not an extremist. He's not a wild guy that attributes bad motives to those that disagree with him, and he's good. And people that know him and hear him say the same thing. So, I think the bottom line is he just doesn't want to try, doesn't want to do it," the former president said.

The interview aired Monday night on "Larry King Live." It got attention over the weekend when CNN previewed it, airing a clip that featured Barbara Bush saying she hoped former Gov. Sarah Palin stayed in Alaska.

"I sat next to her once, thought she was beautiful," the former first lady said. "And I think she's very happy in Alaska, and I hope she'll stay there."

When Sarah runs against them in the primary it will be like a 3rd party (Barracuda/Tea Party). When she wins all Dem/GOP elites will unite against her in the general election and she will prevail with the common people of the country.

“Why do the Bush’s think it is up to them?”

Well, unfortunately, they basically ran the show (at the national level, at least) from the time Ronaldus Magnus exited the stage.

You are right. Rove, for example, will openly campaign with Obama. He might even join with little chrissy matthews and openly provide Obama with oral pleasure.

Well another friend of the family is annointed. Yep that tells me all I need to know. If I ever in my wildest dreams thought of voting for Romney {which I haven’t} I sure would never vote for him now. No More Bush Politics. Either Poppy or W’s endorsement of someone for me is good reason to choose someone else.

Romney Calls Flat Tax Unfair

http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0407/3423.html

Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney said Wednesday that he would propose eliminating taxes on savings for middle-class Americans if he is elected president, but he would not overhaul the U.S. tax code.

“I’m probably not going to be recommending throwing out the code and starting over,” the Republican said during a meeting with Des Moines Register editors and reporters.

. . .

Romney also said he opposes implementing a flat income tax, calling the concept unfair. Former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani, who is also running for the 2008 GOP nomination, said last week that he was open to the idea of a flat tax.

Romney who? It’s disappointing that HW Bush would support the rino Romney. But then I don’t believe HW ever was a true conservative.

IMHO, Romney was finished when Obammycare passed - his Romneycare has been a disaster in the People’s Republic of Massachusetts. He seems to be hiding behind Sarah’s skirt.

Sarah Palin is a true conservative and the only person who gives the looney Dimwits conniption fits, as she goes toe-to-toe and smacks them with a smile on a daily basis.

God bless her - she would make a great President.

this is what really burns me, I have already told my leaders in Ky I do NOT want Romney but we have such a late primary it’s already over by the time we vote. This sucks. The elites in both parties don’t give a damn who we want to run for President, they also know we will vote for anyone rather than have Obama again for 4 more years. I think it’s time for a new party, a third party! Sick to death of both parties and the same old goats calling the shots.

Mitt will not get the nomination, but if he did the Dems would beat him.

He is not an acceptable candidate.

Skull and bones and Mormons, birds of a feather !

Did you know Rmoney's father was born into a polygamous family ? did you know that Joseph SMith and Brigham Young taught the CHRIST WAS MARRIED AND A POLYGAMIST ? These refernced quotes can be verified at the BYU Library website.

Apostle Orson Hyde:
“I discover that some of the Eastern papers represent me as a great blasphemer, because I said, in my lecture on Marriage, at our last Conference, that JESUS CHRIST WAS MARRIED at Cana of Galilee, THAT MARY, MARTHA, AND OTHERS WERE HIS WIVES, AND THAT HE BEGAT CHILDREN. (Journal of Discourses, Vol. 2, page 210)

Brigham Young, answering critics who claimed polygamy as a relic of barbarism:
“ Yes, one of the relics of Adam, of Enoch, of Noah, of Abraham, of Isaac, of Jacob, of Moses, David, Solomon, the Prophets, OF JESUS, AND HIS APOSTLES.” (Journal of Discourses, Vol. 11, page 328)

Brigham Young:
“The Scripture says that He, the LORD, came walking in the Temple, with HIS TRAIN; I do not now who they were, unless HIS WIVES AND CHILDREN;...” (Journal of Discourses, Vol. 13, page 309)

Bush Sr. probably sponsored him into the CFR which explains he & Barbara’s feelings expressed this week about Sarah Palin.
