Natural-Born American Citizen Cannot Keep Job
Department of Homeland Security ^ | 11/29/2010 | sef

Posted on 11/29/2010 12:58:59 PM PST by Conservative_Rob

I was "Born in the USA" over 50 years ago, and have been employed at my current location for over 11 years, but Homeland Security says that I can't keep my job without a Social Security card.

I got my SS card in 6th grade back in '66, and in big red letters on it, it said, NOT TO BE USED FOR IDENTIFICATION.  I memorized my number, and never carried it with me, so I have no idea where that card went to in the intervening 44 years.

I’ve been employed almost continuously since I was 15 years old, and worked in Michigan, Illinois, Iowa, West Virginia, Maryland, and Pennsylvania, and, according to the United States Department of Homeland Security, I can’t continue to work unless I can produce an SS card.

I know I can apply for a replacement card, but why should I have to.  I’m a native-born citizen of the United States of America, and, except for a few trips to Canada (before passports were necessary), have never been out of the USA.  Why should I be required to prove my citizenship?

Right now I'm at the point where they can come and git me.  If they want to waste resources arresting native-born citizens for not filling out their paperwork instead of keeping our borders secure, then our country is really lost.

Meanwhile an illegal alien kenyan sits in the white house.

You can always use a valid passport as proof of citizenship for the obligatory I-9 form.

Were both your parents U.S. citizens at the time of your birth? If not, then you are NOT a Natural Born citizen.

And if everyone decided that they didn't want to give a physical social security card to their employer but have the employer take their word that the #’s they memorized are correct, you would be OK with that?

What happens when “Pedro” fresh from over the Rio Grande wants the same treatment under the law that you want for yourself?

I was going to ask the same question. There is a huge difference. One is a subset of the other. Just as in previous eras where the ruling class had to be from a subset of a larger group. This is what the Founders intended. If not, then why did they set limits on who could be elected to President, Senate, Congress, etc...?

“You can always use a valid passport as proof of citizenship for the obligatory I-9 form”

...Or a drivers license and birth certificate.

You are missing the point. A social security card was explicitly created NOT to be a form of ID.

Why should I be required to prove my citizenship?

Why should Pedro Hernandez, or Abdullah Allah Ackbar have to prove their citizenship?

They're natural born USA citizens who memorized their Social Security Account Number 44 years ago.

Just ask them ... they'll tell you!

Why not just apply to the Social Security office for a duplicate card? Folks have to do that all the time, because they lose theirs.

It’s not used for identification in this case, it’s used to ensure that you will pay taxes.

How is his employer to know that it is paying Social Security "taxes" into the right "account"?

No, but it was created to be a form whereby your EMPLOYER could pay SOCIAL SECURITY payments, that are supposedly in your “name”, you name being a unique number designation.

Do you think an employer should take someones word for what their social security number is, or should there be a mechanism in place to ensure that they are not working FRAUDULENTLY under a number that is not their own?

Well?

Illegal immigrants are illegal because they fail to comply with the letter of the law and I expect them to be held responsible. Failure to comply with employment verification laws is failure to comply with the letter of the law. Why fault one and excuse the other?

What is your position on securing our borders and enforcing our immigration laws?

Good grief. Quit whining like a little girl. Apply for another SS card. Get someone to provide you with a fake one with your number on it. Show them your passport. You cannot win this. Just do what they want and get it over with, or they will fix it so you never get another job. There is no reason to take a stand over this. Do you refuse to show the police your drivers license when you are stopped? Do you refuse to give your password at the bank. Pull up your socks.

The title doesn’t jive with what this guy said below (he keeps referring to “native-born”, not “natural born”) - the whole thing doesn’t make sense especially considering he can get a duplicate card if there even was one issued in the first place.

Only The One is allowed to proceed without any documents. All others must prove it.
Perhaps if you were of the right shade of latte like The One, they would excuse the lack of documentation.
Go get a really deep dark tan, and try again.
Or get a turban, claim you are with CAIR and your rights are being violated.
Or claim you are very very happy(gay)and threaten a discrimination suit.
We must be creative with these socialists.

BTW, I am sorry the gov’t has once again proved what a worthless bunch of a-holes they are. And I am sorry they chose you to pick on this time.

How do you "know" the number you memorized 44 years ago is the number you remember now? Same thing happened to my mom. Somewhere along the line two numbers got transposed and she contributed for years to someone else's Social Security "lockbox." It took some effort to extract her earnings data credited to that account and add it to the correct account that held earning data from the 1940s.

So, wander down to your local Social Security office and apply for a replacement card.
