When my Aunt was dying of glioma, my Uncle booked her into one of these NY hospital VIP suites with the cash they had been saving up for a year-long round the world “cruise of a lifetime” they’d been planning to take the following year. They weren’t VIPs, but the extra comfort certainly improved their lives for a little bit.

Back in the late 70’s and early 80’s the Saudi royal family was routinely allowed this takeover privilege(which they paid for) by the Cleveland Clinic. I was told that as a phlebotomist there, I would not be permitted to wear my Crucifix necklace if I would be assigned to those floors.
