there was NO memorial service- there was however a pep rally, and reelection campaign as the o team handed out t’shirts with his new campaign slogan plastered on the front

There were just a hand full of Rebublicans there. They HAD to let in Jan Brewer. And then they booed her at the college. I am so sick of how he uses people.

That’s my take on this. We don’t want Westboro Baptist picketing funerals because regardless of politics or anything else, families deserve to have a right to grieve without having politics shoved in their faces.

The AZ legislature unanimously passed legislation and Gov Brewer signed it into law, forbidding picketing at funerals - because they had enough respect for the families and what they’re going through to want those families to have space and to be free of the politicking.

And then Obama and his cohorts proceeded to do exactly that on national TV - after watching the media do it for the previous 4 days.

The whole subject is just sad.

And never mind the way the stories regarding who found what evidence and when is continuously shifting. That’s too substantial to ever be covered earnestly.

The little girl and Judge Roll were both Catholic, I believe. Somebody said the little girl’s family had a private religious gathering instead of going to the circus. Did Judge Roll’s family do the same?

I wish Gabby’s husband could have spent that time at the hospital instead. I guess it’s his option but there was probably a lot of pressure for him to attend this thing.

With Obama and Biden both out of town, it would be appropriate for him to remain in Washington. These idiots do not understand anything. Reminds me of a schoolgirl slapfight.

NYT reported that Brewer was bood...I don’t blame him for not going.

How utterly tacky, crass, shameful, etc....but then, I'm not surprised.

Thank you, beat me to it. Evidently, even Obama does not understand ‘continuation of government’. He’s out of town, Biden is overseas...and he offers Boehner a seat on AF One????

Why should he have gone there and gotten booed like Gov Brewer did?

Memorial service? Oh. Sounded more like a campaign event. And Republicans don’t normally attend Democrat campaign events.

For one second there I thought that Boehner had failed to show up at the Arizona Memorial, the one at Pearl Harbor, that is.

Dang, I thought, it’s not even December 7th and all the Dems want to remember those who perished on that day, amazing!

But he did the right thing, they’d have savaged him like the poor Republicans who showed up at the Wellstone memorial, who came thinking they were there to mourn a lost colleague. Yeah, right.

“Aides said he did so to attend a prayer service in Washington in remembrance of the six killed”

Hmmmmmm what should I do?

Go to the Prayer service where real Clergy will lead us into prayer to the one and only Living God who understands the hurt this nation is going through and the pain of the families involved?

OR should I

go watch a dope-smoking college professor bless the worms in the ground, the fish in the sea, and the winged creatures in the air.

I know what I would do.

I don’t understand Holder’s reason but Napolitano is the former governor of AZ and has a working relationship with Giffords.

If Giffords has been killed, Boehner probably would’ve attended.

I don’t mean to hijack the thread, but can you point me to more information regarding this? I must have missed something major!

a senior congressional aide said. “Hell, as speaker, he could have taken a delegation to Arizona on military air.”

Hell, you could have put your name ON THE RECORD but you didn't mr/mrs congressional aide. So much for civility too.

Maybe he knew it was going to be a campaign event and didn't want to get booed.
